Grand Theft Auto 5 is free on Xbox Game Pass in July again

GTA 5 is on Xbox Game Pass once again, joining the console’s lineup of free July games and DLC for Hi-Fi Rush, Forza Horizon 5, and more

GTA 5 is on Xbox Game Pass once again, joining the console’s lineup of free July games and DLC. GTA V on Game Pass includes the Xbox One and Series X|S versions, though it’s only available for console and cloud players. PC Game Pass subscribers will have to pay for the game.

If you’ve managed to avoid GTA 5 over the past 10 years, here’s what the open-world game is all about:

At the opposite end of the spectrum is Sword and Fairy: Together Forever, a stylized action-RPG where you pull together a team of demons, humans, and gods to save a world on the brink of ruin. This one is on console, cloud, and PC.

GTA 5 PS5 and Xbox Series X|S graphical improvements finally revealed

Rockstar’s open-world phenomenon will look better than ever.

GTA 5 will arrive on new-generation consoles soon, with several new graphical bells and whistles to boot.

On Friday, Rockstar shared details on how GTA 5 will take advantage of the extra horsepower of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Both versions will have high-end PC options like 4K resolutions, 60 frame rate caps, HDR options, and ray tracing support. Fans can also swap between three new graphical settings.

GTA 5 graphics options on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

  • Fidelity Mode: Targets 30 FPS with the best visuals possible
  • Performance Mode: Targets 60 FPS and dials back some visual elements
  • Performance RT mode: A balance of the other two, pretty graphics targeting 60 FPS

Since the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S have lightning-fast SSDs, load times will be dramatically lower than last-generation predecessors. Both consoles will also see more population and traffic variety, increased vegetation density, better lighting, and more.

The PS5 version will also utilize the Dualsense controller’s adaptive trigger and haptic feedback. Rockstar notes that particular weather effects, directional damage, rough road surfaces, and more will feel better while playing on the Dualsense.

GTA 5 comes out on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 15, 2022.

GTA 6 development is “well underway”, according to Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto 6 (or VI?) is well into development, according to Rockstar Games’ latest GTA Online blog post.

Grand Theft Auto 6 development is “well underway” according to Rockstar Games in a new GTA Online community update, with “official details” coming to the Rockstar Newswire in the future.

Grand Theft Auto 6 has been speculated on endlessly for years, and with Grand Theft Auto V‘s next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series update delayed, fans assumed it’d be a while longer before anyone gets the chance to play Rockstar’s next big open world adventure.

This new information comes shortly after Red Dead Online fans were dismayed with how little content had been added to the game since launch, with very little being added even after Red Dead Online was released as a standalone digital game.

Rockstar hasn’t had it easy lately, as it was only mere weeks ago that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition remastered the PS2 trio of GTA games, and it was met with a mostly negative response thanks to issues relating to visuals, bugs, and performance.

The confirmation that GTA 6 is in development, with the promise of more information coming soon, will have fans feeling relieved and hopeful for the first time since GTA Online‘s The Contract heist was launched, which saw Dr. Dre making an appearance in the game, complete with new music featuring Eminem.

Elsewhere Rockstar’s blog post confirms that the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of GTA Online will be coming this year with new features alongside a standalone GTA Online digital launch. That standalone version will be free for three months for PS+ subscribers on PS5. Game Pass subscribers can hope for a similar deal coming their way.

There’s still plenty of time to speculate on what Grand Theft Auto 6 could be, but for now Rockstar has given fans a reason to be patient, and get excited for the future of Grand Theft Auto.

‘Grand Theft Auto’ has the same staying power as ‘James Bond’ according to Take-Two’s CEO

Strauss Zelnick believes Red Dead Redemption is in the same boat.

Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two interactive, believes Grand Theft Auto  is on par with James Bond  in terms of lasting appeal.

During the Jefferies Virtual Global Interactive Entertainment Conference on Thursday, Zelnick spoke about whether or not Take-Two’s franchises can maintain popularity for years to come. He believes that if a franchise is consistently excellent, like 007, then they’ll likely endure.

“I don’t know if you saw [No Time To Die], I just saw the new Bond film,” Zelnick said via VGC. That was great. And you would like every franchise to be James Bond. There are precious few entertainment franchises of any sort that fall into that category, but they do exist. And I think GTA  is one of them, I think [Red Dead Redemption] is one of them.”

Zelnick went on to say that the NBA 2K  series is in the same boat, especially since the sport of basketball itself is so popular. He also had some interesting thoughts on annual releases.

“I’ve always said that annualizing non-sports titles runs the risk of burning out intellectual property even if it’s good,” Zelnick said via VGC. “So we take the time to make something that we think is incredibly phenomenal and we also rest titles intentionally so that there’s pent-up demand for that title so that it’s a special event.”

That kind of explains why Grand Theft Auto  games only come out once every several years, eh? Take-Two probably  should have delayed the GTA Trilogy  since people are already used to waiting ages for these, then. At least the bugs are hilarious.

We had a chance to  speak with Rockstar about the GTA Trilogy  recently too.
