Getting chilly? Adidas’ new COLD.RDY line keeps golfers warm but not restricted

As temperatures begin to drop this season, most hope their scores on the course continue to as well.

It is a difficult task to find golf apparel that not only keeps you warm, but allows you to swing freely throughout the entirety of your golf swing. Adidas Golf has just released a new line called COLD.RDY. Adidas’ main goal with this collection was to provide the warmth that golfers need while allowing them to stay loose throughout their round.

This collection does exactly that. The pieces are designed for layering and offer lightweight warmth. While keeping in the warmth, COLD.RDY designs have a protective layer of a water-repellent fabric that aids in keeping wind and water out during your round. The fabric is breathable and comfortable. The collection’s innovative yarns allow sweat to be absorbed and evaporated instantly keeping you dry from all conditions.

“How a player feels over a shot – that confidence and focus – shouldn’t change if it’s a hot summer day or there’s a sudden wind chill,” said Shaun Madigan, global director of apparel for adidas Golf.

The collection primarily focuses on jackets and vests for both men and women, but the COLD.RDY also has some more unique pieces. For women, the line features leggings made with flattering body-contoured seams. For men, Adidas has designed a hoodie with a jersey-lined hood with a drawcord along with a slight drop tail hem for a sleek and modern finish. All COLD.RDY products have UV 50+ sun protection for those sneaky, sunny days.

The new COLD.RDY apparel is available on adidas.com, the adidas app, and at select retailers as of October 16.

Adidas offers limited-edition Summer of Golf Codechaos golf shoes

Adidas said the tie-dye Codechaos shoes pay tribute to the game in trying times, as golfers celebrate the sport during coronavirus

Adidas Golf said that to celebrate golf this summer – both as a rally cry for the game as well as to “represent how golf has offered thousands of people some solace in recent weeks” – the company plans to offer a limited-edition version of its Codechaos shoes.

Dubbed the Codechaos Summer of Golf edition, the mostly white shoe features a multi-colored, tie-dye pattern. The sole also features a multi-colored pattern. The words Summer of Golf are emblazoned on the tongues of the shoes.

The shoes will be made available June 20 at adidas.com and select retailers. The price will be $170.

Adidas said the tie-dye is in keeping with the original intent of the shoes, which was inspired by the 1967 “Summer of Love” in San Francisco, site of this year’s PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park. The PGA Championship has been pushed back from May 14-17 to August 6-9 because of coronavirus concerns.

“When we designed this shoe roughly 18 months ago, we clearly had no idea there would be a global pandemic that would impact all sports including our own,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director for Adidas Golf. “We knew that adding those three words on the tongue would make this shoe special, but those three words mean so much more now that we are actually able to get outdoors and play the game we love.”

Codechaos shoes feature a spikeless sole made from rubber and thermoplastic polyurethane that is covered with traction elements. While some of the traction elements are positioned in waves, the pattern is broken up by several pieces that appear to be scattered in a random pattern in the forefoot.

After studying the way golfers swing and where they put stress on their feet, Adidas designers developed the chaotic-looking system. Called Twistgrip, it provides forefoot traction in every angle by pointing the edges of the traction elements in every direction.

Puma releases limited-edition 2020 Masters-themed apparel and footwear

The 2020 Masters has been postponed until November, but Puma Golf has released the gear Rickie Fowler was going to wear this week at Augusta

When the Augusta National Golf Club announced that it was postponing the 2020 Masters because of the coronavirus pandemic, it not only disappointed the players and golf fans around the world, it put many golf manufacturers in an awkward position.

Several companies annually create limited-edition merchandise like golf bags, shoes and apparel that is themed around symbols of the season’s first major. Those products had already been created by the time it was announced that the Masters would not be played in April.

With the tournament now pushed back until the week of November 9, should they make the merchandise available to golf lovers anyway, or hold on to it and try selling it later?

Puma Golf has decided that starting Monday, which would have been the first day of Masters week, it is forging ahead. The company is making the Experience Collection available, including four new polos, hats, shoes and a special bag co-designed by Vessel.

The Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen and Tournament polo shirts ($75 each) are made from Puma’s proprietary Fusionyard Flex fabric that allows for freedom of movement and should help to keep golfers dry and comfortable. The number-named shirts each have a floral print that matches the plant name of that hole at Augusta National, with Eleven have white dogwood blooms, Twelve featuring golden bells flowers and Thirteen covered in azaleas. Those holes comprise Amen Corner, and the Tournament polo’s print features a blend of all three plants.

Puma is also including a limited-edition version of the Poweradapt Caged ($170) and Ignite shoes ($220) in the Tournament print.

Rickie Fowler had planned to wear those shirts and shoes around Augusta National this week, and carry his clubs in this limited-edition Vessel stand bag that was co-created with Cobra Golf ($599). Like the apparel and shoes, it has been given the Tournament print that features white dogwoods, golden bells and azaleas.

Linksoul donating money from ‘Flatten The Curve’ shirts to charity

The California apparel maker has created a cool new T-shirt and pledged to give the proceeds to charities helping first responders.

Forty dollars might seem like a little much for a T-shirt, but when all the proceeds from it go to a great charity, it can be money well spent.

Linksoul, the maker of golf and casual apparel with a California vibe, is not taking pre-orders for a new T-shirt that features a great design and a powerful message – flatten the curve. Here is a close-up of the design.

The money raised from the sale of the limited-edition shirts, which should be shipped in late April is going to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP). The organization has a COVID-19 direct relief fund that specifically helps the most vulnerable populations affected by this crisis, including hourly wage workers, the elderly, and people with disabilities. The CDP also connects with non-government organizations to provide desperately supplies to hospitals.
