The Golden State Warriors championship-winning core is entering the final stages of their careers. Klay Thompson has left the Bay Area to join the Dallas Mavericks. As such, the front office has re-tooled the roster with some fresh veteran talent, providing a boost to a franchise that hasn’t undergone much turnover in recent years.
Due to the new additions and Curry’s age-defying exploits, there’s still a chance that another championship could be won in the Bay Area. However, Steve Kerr would have to stumble upon the perfect rotation pattern for that level of success to occur in the upcoming season.
In a recent YouTube video by “Swish Culture,” the host explores whether the Warriors are still a championship-level team and whether they have a new superstar waiting to emerge from the younger contingent of talent on the roster.

How long can the Golden State Warriors championship window remain open?
The Golden State Warriors won their last championship in 2022. Outside of Klay Thompson, who left the team in free agency this summer, the entire core of that roster is still in the Bay Area. Over the first few weeks of the offseason, the Warriors have acquired multiple veteran talents with the aim of bouncing back after a difficult 2023-24 campaign.
According to Joe Lacob, who was speaking on a recent episode of Tim Kawakami’s “The TK Show” podcast, the Warriors championship window is likely to be open longer than what most people expect, despite the fact Steph Curry and Draymond Green are both in the final stages of their career.
“I do view that our window is a little longer than people think,” Lacob told Kawakami. “If there’s such a thing as a window. But with respect to Steph, let’s just say … I think the window’s probably longer than people give it credit for. He’s in remarkable shape. I do not see some big slowdown from Steph here. In fact, I would argue he’s one of the best players on the Olympic team.”
Golden State has been straddling two timelines in recent years. The young core of Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, Trayce Jackson-Daivs and Moses Moody have all shown promise of developing into high-level players. The quicker they can take steps in their development, the more likely it is that Curry and Green can continue contending at the highest level.
Whether the Warriors’ window can stay open long enough for the franchise to get Curry and Green another ring will remain to be seen. However, it does appear that the front office is bullish on the franchise’s chances.

Buddy Hield discussed his excitment at joining the Golden State Warriors roster in a recent video.
Buddy Hield is one of the latest additions to the Golden State Warriors roster. He was acquired as part of the six-team sign-and-trade deal that sent Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks. Hield is one of the best volume 3-point shooters in the NBA and should slot right into Steve Kerr’s offensive system next season.
“I’d just known for years that the Warriors was a team I always wanted to play for,” Hield said. “The way they move the ball, they’re always in championship-caliber mode. And just to learn from guys like Steph (Curry,) and Draymond (Green,) and Steve (Kerr), and Andrew (Wiggins,) because I admire the way they approach the game. I just want to be a part of that, and see what it’s like to be on this side.”
Hield’s perimeter scoring ability will ensure he gets more than enough playing time in the Warriors’ new-look rotation. He’s a career 40% shooter from the perimeter and hit 38.6% of his threes last season. His presence will ensure Steph Curry has ample spacing, which should allow him to continue thriving as the Warriors’ primary offensive option.
Kerr has multiple new faces to integrate into the rotation next season as the Warriors attempt to bounce back from a difficult 2023-24 campaign that saw the franchise miss out on making the playoffs.
Kerr shouldn’t feel obligated to give him that nod as long as Team USA stays winning, though.
Let’s take a step back: Tatum is obviously one of the best players in the world and he proven as much over and over again. But on this particular roster and scheme, he averaged just 0.72 points per possession in a set offense during the USA Basketball Showcase exhibition games.
That was the lowest on the team of anyone who had at least 10 opportunities, per Synergy, except for just Tyrese Haliburton. Neither he or Haliburton logged a minute during the game against Team Serbia.
Perhaps one reason for his struggles was a role adjustment. For example, when playing for the Celtics last season, the All-Star forward finished the majority of his offensive possessions as either the ball handler in pick-and-roll sets or one-on-on in isolation.
But on Team USA, his scoring opportunities playing for Steve Kerr mostly came off-ball on spot-up possessions or cutting to the basket. That requires a different mentality and it may take some time for Tatum to find that groove.
He may find it when he gets a chance on the court against South Sudan, but if he does not, then Kerr should continue to play those players who he feels will give him the best chance of winning.
Tatum is elite playing on or off the ball and there is plenty he can do beyond just scoring. He will likely find a role that makes sense on this team, even if it takes a bit longer than other players.

In Steph Curry and Draymond Green, Steve Kerr has two elite veterans who know how to win and what it takes to be a consistent contender. The Warriors also have some elite young talent with All-Star upside. Brandin Podziemski and Jonathan Kuminga are the two jewels of the younger core.
“It seems more likely that the Warriors are making the same mistake twice: They’re going for two timelines — the present and the future,” Kurtenbach wrote when lamenting the team’s dilly-dallying over a Lauri Markkanen trade. “And in that effort, they’ll ensure they have no timelines. Let me tell you, two in hand is better than two in the bush.”
While having two timelines is the ideal scenario for any team, it appears that it’s limiting Golden State from reaching a championship ceiling while also holding back the development of some young players, such as Moses Moody.
If the Warriors want to continue giving Curry and Green opportunities to add to their impressive trophy haul, the front office may need to accept that it will mean going all-in on the veteran core and dealing with an inevitable rebuild when the time arises.

The Golden State Warriors are in the midst of a re-tool. After losing Klay Thompson in free agency, the front office has pivoted to add high-level depth at multiple positions. However, the Warriors still lack size in the middle of the floor, which is something they appear eager to fix with their well-documented pursuit of Lauri Markkanen.
At 36 years old, Steph Curry is firmly in the final stage of his career. The superstar guard has competed at the highest levels for most of his tenure in the NBA. He has helped the franchise to win four championships. During a recent interview with Marc J. Spears of Andescape, Curry admitted that his desire is to continue fighting for and winning championships.
“I want to win,” Curry said. “Let’s put it this way, it’s a longwinded way of saying that if it is a situation where you’re a bottom feeder and it’s just because you want to stay there, I’d have a hard time with that. But I don’t think that’s going to be the reality.”
The Warriors have a strong mixture of veteran talent and young players with high-level potential. They also have an elite coach in Steve Kerr, who knows how to win at the pinnacle of the NBA. As such, there’s very little reason to doubt Golden State’s chances of embarking on more deep playoff runs in the coming years.
Nevertheless, Curry’s comments should serve as a warning to the front office. He wants to win and continue cementing his legacy within the league. Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Joe Lacob must do everything in their power to ensure they give him the best chance possible of achieving that goal.

As such, Curry’s best shot at winning another ring and continuing to compete at the highest level may lie away from the Bay Area. The veteran guard has been vocal about his desire to retire with Golden State but has also been open about his desire to continue contending at the highest level.

Did ESPN snub any current of former Golden State Warriors players in their lastest “Top-25 of the 21st Century” rankings?
ESPN recently released its “Top-25 Players of the 21st Century” list. Steph Curry was positioned third, and Draymond Green came in 22nd. Klay Thompson was not included despite his importance to the Golden State Warriors’ dominance over the past decade. Kevin Durant and Chris Paul were also named to the list, but their tenures in the Bay Area were fleeting.
Of course, there are other members of the Warriors roster that were overlooked. Andre Iguodala springs to mind as an impactful rotation player that played a key role in the team’s early dominance.
Due to ESPN’s rankings covering players from the last 24 years, there were undoubtedly some difficult decisions when choosing which players to omit and who to include.
