Washington Week 10 injury designations: LT Geron Christian ruled OUT

The Detroit Lions Week 10 opponent, the Washington Football Team, has released their injury designations ahead of Sunday’s game.

The Detroit Lions Week 10 opponent, the Washington Football Team, has released their injury designations ahead of Sunday’s game and they will be without their starting left tackle for the second week in a row.

Here’s a look at Washington’s full injury designations list.

Ruled OUT/Questionable

Player Position Injury Designation
Kyle Allen QB (starter) Ankle OUT
Geron Christian LT (starter) Knee OUT
Dontrelle Inman WR (starter) Hamstring OUT
Jeff Badet WR Hamstring Questionable
Jared Norris LB Hamstring OUT
Dustin Hopkins K Groin Questionable

Allen suffered a pretty significant ankle injury in Week 9 and while he escaped a season-ending designation (for now) there was no way he was going to play this week. Washington will turn to Alex Smith — who himself is coming off a devastating injury — over 2019 first-round pick Dwayne Haskins.

Christian will miss his second game in a row and Washington will lean on former Lion Cornelius Lucas at left tackle. He will be one of three former Lions to see the field on offense for Washington, with Logan Thomas starting at tight end and J.D. McKissic contributing at running back.

Inman hasn’t played in two weeks and has been replaced by Cam Sims in the starting lineup, but they did get some good news last week, returning starting slot receiver Steven Sims.

Hopkins looks like a game-time decision, so Washington took extra precautions this week, protecting practice squad kicker Kaare Vedvik. He could see a Saturday roster elevation as insurance for Hopkins. His one-year NFL resume consists of a missed field goal, a missed extra point, and three kickoffs, all touchbacks.

No Injury Designation

Player Position Injury Designation
Antonio Gibson RB (starter) Shoulder No injury designation
Thoams Davis LB Non-injury No injury designation

Gibson missed Wednesday’s practice with a shoulder injury but has been a full participant ever since. The impressive rookie should lead the backfield in touches, but McKissic will be in the mix quite a bit as well.

Injury Report: Antonio Gibson returns to full work, Thomas Davis DNP

Gibson continues to work with a shoulder injury that held him out of practice on Wednesday, while Inman goes through individual work.

We got a little bit of good news from rookie RB Antonio Gibson on Thursday, with the young back going through full work while dealing with a shoulder injury that held him out of practice on Wednesday. This is obviously something that we will keep an eye on throughout the rest of the week, as Gibson stands as one of the bigger parts of Washington’s offensive scheme. WR Dontrelle Inman also participated in individual drills on Thursday.

Elsewhere, LT Geron Christian remained sidelined, while Cornelius Lucas continued to take the first-team reps where he has excelled recently. Veteran linebacker Thomas Davis also was held out of practice, which raises a few questions. Davis has underperformed a bit this year, considering that expectations were for him to play a part in the defense, and a cryptic tweet from his wife earlier in the week might show some frustration from the player.

Rivera explained that Davis was held out of practice on Wednesday to maintain the veteran’s health, but his inactivity again on Thursday might raise some eyebrows.

Washington Inactives: Dontrelle Inman listed as out, Steven Sims to be eased back in

Washington is relatively healthy heading into this game against the Giants, with only Dontrelle Inman and Geron Christian listed as inactive.

Washington has the benefit of a shortened inactives list ahead of their Week 9 rematch against the New York Giants this weekend, with only Dontrelle Inman and Geron Christian missing the game. Both players were listed on the injury report this week leading up to the game, and it was expected that they could miss the NFC East rematch.

On a positive note, WR Steven Sims as been activated from the injured reserve, and he will likely get a fair share of the workload on Sunday and be eased back into the offense after missing several weeks with a toe injury.

Here is the full inactive list for Washington:

  • WR Dontrelle Inman (hamstring)
  • OT Geron Christian Sr. (knee)
  • QB Dwayne Haskins
  • WR Tony Brown
  • WR Robert Foster
  • OLB Thomas Davis
  • DE Casey Toohill

As for the Giants, they will be without RB Devonta Freeman, who is out with an ankle injury, as well as WR Golden Tate, who did not travel with the team this weekend due to performance issues.

Here is the full inactive list for New York:

  • RB Devonta Freeman (ankle)
  • WR Golden Tate
  • OT Jackson Barton
  • G Kenny Wiggins
  • TE Eric Tomlinson
  • DE RJ McIntosh
  • CB Brandon Williams

Final Injury Report: Geron Christian out, Dontrelle Inman listed as doubtful vs. Giants

The injury report in Washington is short this week following the bye, with Geron Christian listed as out, and Dontrelle Inman doubtful.

It’s never good to see players listed as out or doubtful for a game, but Washington fans have to be pretty pleased with an injury report that lists only two players ahead of a pivotal game against the NFC East rival New York Giants on Sunday.

In this rematch, Washington will be without LT Geron Christian, and Cornelius Lucas will take his place. Christian has started at that spot all season, but Lucas was productive when filling in at that spot of him ahead of the bye week.

At the WR position, losing Inman would hurt a bit for Washington, but the fact that Steven Sims could potentially be activated from the injured reserve before Sunday, and newly-signed Robert Woods will be active is a massive bonus.

Injury Report: LT Geron Christian DNP, Montez Sweat back after concussion

Cornelius Lucas will likely start at LT this weekend with Christian remaining out, while Steven Sims continues to come back from toe injury.

We are continuing to get some good news out of Washington’s practice following the second injury report of the week, with players like Montez Sweat and Steven Sims Jr. remaining on the field during the portion that was open to media members. Sweat has been dealing with a concussion, and while he hasn’t yet been cleared from the protocol, his presence is encouraging.

As for Sims, it is also good to see him back on the field for the second day in a row after dealing with a toe injury that landed him on the IR for a few weeks. Sims is now eligible to return to the active roster, and his presence on Thursday hints at the possibility of seeing that this weekend.

On the offensive line, we didn’t see Geron Christian yet again, with Cornelius Lucas taking the snaps at the starting LT spot.

Week 7 Inactives and Captains: CeeDee Lamb gets Cowboys’ C on his chest

The Dallas Cowboys have named their Week 7 captains and for the first time in his career, WR CeeDee Lamb will sport the honored C on his jersey. Head coach Mike McCarthy has switched things up, naming a different offense, defense and special teams captain each week and the spectacular rookie wideout gets the nod against the Washington Football Team. DL Everson Griffen and WR Noah Brown get the defense and ST nods, respectively.

Also announced are the guys not suiting up for the game. With the activation of Randy Gregory, rookie Bradlee Anae gets his first inactive of the year. RG Zack Martin is the most notable name, still out with concussion symptoms from Monday night. For Washington, starting LT Geron Christian is out. 2019 first-round pick Dwayne Haskins is now QB3 and is inactive for this game as well.

Inactives list: LT Geron Christian out, WR depth depleted in Washington

LT Geron Christian will miss Sunday’s game with a knee injury, while WRs Isaiah Wright and Antonio Gandy-Golden remain out.

We got the news early on Sunday morning that Washington starting LT Geron Christian would be inactive for this Week 7 game against the Dallas Cowboys after being hampered by a knee injury suffered this past week in practice. In his place, LT Cornelius Lucas will get the start.

Washington’s wide receiver position has also been hit hard by the injury bug, with Antonio Gandy-Golden being sent to the IR, and Isaiah Wright missing this game with a shoulder injury. Washington signed Robert Foster this past week to get him in the mix, but he will miss this game due to the COVID-protocols in the NFL.

Report: LT Geron Christian to miss game vs. Cowboys

A report shows that Christian will miss this game vs. Dallas with a knee injury, leaving Cornelius Lucas to start.

Washington’s starting left tackle Geron Christian will reportedly miss Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, after being listed as questionable to play on Friday.

Christian has been dealing with some knee soreness that first popped up this past week in practice, causing him to miss both Thursday and Friday practices. In his place will step Cornelius Lucas, who was signed by Washington this offseason.

The left side of the line will be a bit make-shift for Washington, with LG Wes Schweitzer starting for an injured LG Saahdiq Charles as well. Schweitzer played well at RG in place of Brandon Scherff, so there is hope that he can hold up on the left side just as well.

Final Injury Report: Geron Christian listed as questionable for game vs. Cowboys

The left side of Washington’s offensive line will be in doubt on Sunday, with Christian now questionable to play.

We were told on Thursday that LT Geron Christian missed practice due to some soreness in his knee, but coach Ron Rivera expected him to be fine on Friday and set to play this weekend. Well, on Friday, Christian missed practice yet again, which puts his status for Sunday in serious doubt, with the next guy up being LT Cornelius Lucas.

Christian is listed as questionable on the final injury report of the week, but it’s fair to assume that he won’t play vs. the Cowboys, which will leave the left side of Washington’s line once again in a tough position, after LG Saahdiq Charles went down with an injury last week as well.

Elsewhere on the injury report, it’s not a shock to see WRs Antonio Gandy-Golden and Isaiah Wright listed as out for the game, as the injuries that they suffered last weekend were expected to hold them out for a couple of weeks, with hopes that they can come back after the bye week.

Injury Report: Geron Christian gets Vet’s day off; Chase Young back to full reps

A tough injury week for Washington has taken yet another downturn, with starting LT Geron Christian taking limited reps and looking hobbled.

Another concerning development for Washington took place on Thursday, when it became clear in practice that starting LT Geron Christian was hobbled, only taking limited reps on the field. Eventually Christian made his way to the exercise bike, where he spent the rest of the practice time that was open to the media. Head coach Ron Rivera said after practice that Christian was sore from yesterday, and received a veteran’s day off. He is expected to play this weekend.

In other news, Chase Young returned to his usual workload after being limited with his groin injury on Wednesday, which appears now to be more a case of a precaution than anything serious.
