SIGNED: 3-star offensive lineman Gernorris Wilson is officially a Duck

Oregon went across the country jn order to find and sign offensive lineman Gernorris Wilson from Lakeland, Flor.

Lakeland, Flor. has been known as the Spring Training home of the Detroit Tigers as they have been in that town seemingly forever.

Big Gernorris Wilson is going to try and change that.

Oregon went way across the country in order to find and eventually sign this massive offensive lineman. At 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds, Wilson is still a work in progress. But once he gets to Eugene and is in Oregon’s scientific weight room and all of the other gadgets they have, Wilson should turn into a beast in a short time.

Most recruiting services have Wilson as a 3-star recruit and the Ducks managed to beat out Auburn for his services.

Ducks get commitment from 3-star OL Gernorris Wilson

The Ducks picked up another OL in the 2023 class on Wednesday, with 3-star Gernorris Wilson giving his verbal commitment.

The Oregon Ducks got another big body up front in the 2023 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon, with a verbal commitment from 3-star OT Gernorris Wilson, a 6-foot-5, 285-pounder from Lakeland, Florida.

Wilson is rated by 247Sports as the No. 86 OL and No. 987 overall player in the 2023 class.

Wilson was originally committed to the Auburn Tigers, but he opened up his recruitment after the coaching change saw Bryan Harsin fired. This allowed Oregon OL coach Adrian Klemm to step in and convince Wilson to come on up to Eugene to play for the Ducks.

Wilson plans to take his official visit to Oregon in December.

Auburn’s 2023 recruiting class has suffered its first decommitment since the Tigers fired [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag].

[autotag]Gernorris Wilson[/autotag], a three-star offensive lineman, announced that he would be backing off his pledge Monday on Twitter.

“Due to the current circumstances I’ve decided to decommit from Auburn University. My recruitment is 1000% back open,” Wilson tweeted.

The Lakeland, Florida, native committed to Auburn on Sept. 19. He was being recruited as someone who could play either tackle or guard at Auburn.

He is ranked as the No. 981 overall player and No. 73 interior offensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite ranking.

He was Auburn’s lowest-ranked commitment because of his position and Auburn’s need along the offensive line he was one of their more important commits and is a blow to the class.

His commitment leaves Auburn with 10 commitments and just two offensive linemen. The class now ranks 14th in the SEC and 55th in the country according to the 247Sports team recruiting ranking.

3-star offensive lineman Gernorris Wilson commits to Auburn

Three-star offensive lineman Gernorris Wilson is Auburn’s second commit in two days and their second along the offensive line.

Auburn is starting to pick up momentum on the recruiting trail.

After landing a commitment from three-star defensive linrman [autotag]Jamarrion Harkless[/autotag] on Sunday, the Tigers landed three-star offensive lineman [autotag]Gernorris Wilson[/autotag] on Monday.

Wilson helps address Auburn’s major need along the offensive line and the staff believes he could play tackle or guard. This makes his commitment even bigger since Auburn needs help at both spots and could mean earlier playing time for the 6-foot-5, 285-pound Wilson.

The Lakeland, Florida native is ranked as the No. 1,145 overall player and No. 86 interior offensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 162 player from Florida

He is the 10th member of Auburn’s recruiting class and second along the offensive line, joining four-star center Bradyn Joiner. He is the third member of Auburn’s recruiting class from Florida, four-star wide receiver Daquayvious Sorey and four-star edge Wilky Denaud are also from the Sunshine State.

Auburn surging for key offensive tackle target

Auburn is in a great place to land three-star offensive tackle Gernorris Wilson.

Auburn has identified [autotag]Gernorris Wilson[/autotag] as one of their top targets at offensive tackle and they are in a great place to land him.

Wilson is a three-star recruit and the No. 1,134 overall player in the 247Sports composite but Auburn’s coaching staff is much higher on him and has made him a priority.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder was on campus for the Big Cat Weekend and is scheduled to be back for an official visit for the Penn State game. In fact, he told Keith Niebuhr of Auburn Live he nearly committed to Auburn during Big Cat and his mother was a major reason why.

“That was her first time to Auburn,” Wilson said. “She wanted me to commit right then and there. It was definitely hard to say ‘no.’ I’m not lying, it was really hard.”

It may just be a matter of time before he pulls the trigger on his commitment, Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover cast a Crystal Ball for Auburn to land Wilson on Tuesday.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine agrees, giving the Tigers a 99.5% chance of landing the Lakeland, Florida native.

When discussing what stands out about Auburn Wilson told Niebuhr it is the family environment.

“The family environment is one thing,” Wilson said. “They’re really friendly and real family based there. I really like that.”

Auburn extends offer to 2023 OL from Florida

Auburn extended an offer to 2023 IOL Gernorris Wilson.

The Auburn coaching staff extended an offer to 2023 interior offensive lineman Gernorris Wilson on Tuesday. The native of Lakeland, Florida posted that the Tigers had offered him on Thursday afternoon via Twitter.

Wilson is regarded as a three-star by 247Sports’ recruiting rankings. He is listed at 6-foot-4.5 and 280 pounds. The Tigers aren’t the only SEC school that has offered Wilson. Both Kentucky and Missouri have also offered the Florida native. Other programs like Cincinnati, Oregon, and Pittsburgh have offered as well.

The product of Lake Gibson High School played primarily at left tackle last season for the Braves. Along with that, he also wrestles. His size signals that he would be an interior presence on the Tigers’ offensive line. After this season, it is a possibility that every starter could be leaving. If that happens, Wilson would have an early opportunity to see the field. We will have to wait and see how the coaching staff decides to pursue him. He would be a nice addition to the ’23 recruiting class.
