Bears place OL Germain Ifedi on reserve/COVID-19 list

The revolving door that has been the Bears and the reserve/COVID-19 list continues as Germain Ifedi has landed on the list.

The revolving door that has been the Chicago Bears and the reserve/COVID-19 list continues.

After the Bears activated outside linebacker Robert Quinn and right tackle Elijah Wilkinson from the reserve/COVID-19 list, they placed right tackle Germain Ifedi on the list.

Granted, Ifedi has been on injured reserve as he nurses a knee injury suffered back in Week 4. So it won’t impact his status for Sunday’s game. But the COVID outbreak at Halas Hall continues to be an issue.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, and he’s been away from Halas Hall this week. If he isn’t cleared before Sunday’s game, it’ll be special teams coordinator Chris Tabor serving as the acting head coach.

Tight end Jimmy Graham and wide receivers coach Mike Furrey also remain sidelined.

Breaking down Bears’ roster moves ahead of matchup vs. Packers

The Bears made several roster moves Wednesday, including placing Germain Ifedi and Jeremiah Attaochu on injured reserve.

The Chicago Bears (3-2) are gearing up for a divisional showdown against the Green Bay Packers (4-1), where the winner will lead the NFC North.

Ahead of Sunday’s game at Soldier Field, the Bears have been dealing with some injuries, which the team addressed Wednesday. While quarterback Justin Fields’ hyperextended knee is fine, and he’ll be good to go Sunday, the same can’t be said for a couple of others.

Here’s a look at the seven roster moves the Bears made on Wednesday, including players placed on injured reserve and players signed to the active roster or practice squad.

Latest Bears injury updates on Justin Fields, Germain Ifedi and more

While Matt Nagy didn’t provide any Bears injury updates on Monday, here’s the latest about Justin Fields, Germain Ifedi and others.

The Chicago Bears pulled off an impressive 20-9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, where all three phases played a key role in the upset to bring the Bears to 3-2 on the season.

But Chicago didn’t escape without some injuries, including rookie quarterback Justin Fields, whose toughness was on display throughout the entire game.

While Matt Nagy didn’t provide any injury updates on Monday, which has been consistent this season, here’s the latest about injuries to several Bears players from Sunday’s win against the Raiders.

Bears RT Germain Ifedi questionable to return with knee injury

Germain Ifedi suffered a knee injury in the second quarter and is questionable to return.

The Chicago Bears have had some injury scares in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, including quarterback Justin Fields, who took a shot to the ribs and appeared to have hyperextended his knee.

While Fields has remained in the game, the Bears weren’t so lucky with right tackle Germain Ifedi, who suffered a knee injury near the end of the second quarter. Ifedi left the game and is questionable to return.

With Ifedi out, Elijah Wilkinson has stepped in at right tackle.

The Bears lead the Raiders 14-3 at halftime.

5 takeaways from Bears’ jarring 26-6 loss to the Browns

The Bears had the worst offensive performance we’ve seen since the turn of the century. But that’s just the start. Here are our takeaways.

The Justin Fields era began with a massive thud on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Hype and excitement quickly turned to anger and pain faster than it took Myles Garrett to bulldoze through Jason Peters. The Bears netted just 47 yards of offense in a brutal 26-6 loss against the Browns to drop them to 1-2 on the season.

To sum it up nice and quick, the offense was nonexistent, the defense held on for as long as they could, and the coaching staff failed to properly give Fields a fighting chance to succeed.

All in all, it was arguably the worst offensive performance we’ve seen since the turn of the century. But that’s just the start. Here are my takeaways from Sunday’s loss in Cleveland.

Studs and duds from Bears’ blowout loss to Browns

The Bears played a football game on Sunday. That’s as nicely as we can put it. Here are a few studs and many duds from their Week 3 loss.

The Chicago Bears physically showed up to Cleveland and played a football game on Sunday. That’s about as nicely as I can put it after watching arguably the worst offensive performance this millennium in the Bears’ 26-6 loss against the Browns.

Offensively, it was a disgraceful effort from nearly everyone involved as they failed to properly plan and execute the gameplan against a very good Browns defense. On the other side of the ball, the Bears did their best on defense to contain the Browns offense while getting no support. But being on the field too long, they eventually broke, allowing the Browns to move the ball with ease.

There weren’t a lot of standout individual performances in this one, but we managed to find some. Here are the few studs and many duds from this week’s debacle.

Bears Report Card: How we graded Chicago’s offense in Week 2 win vs. Bengals

Here’s how we graded the Bears’ offense in Week 2’s win over the Bengals.

The Chicago Bears recorded their first win of the season with a 20-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, where it was more of the same with struggles on offense.

While rookie quarterback Justin Fields did make his debut, it was an overall rough outing by everyone on offense, except for Andy Dalton, who was impressive before exiting the game with a knee injury.

There were certainly some surprises on offense, including wide receiver Allen Robinson’s outing and Matt Nagy’s usage of his tight ends. But the Bears got the win. Now, the offense needs to find some rhythm, and it looks like it’ll be with Fields as the starter.

As we wrap up Week 2, here’s how we graded each position group on offense in Chicago’s win against Cincinnati:

4 key matchups to watch as Bears face Rams in Week 1

From A-Rob vs. Ramsey to Bears front seven vs. Rams O-line, here are four matchups to watch as the Bears battle the Rams in Week 1.

The Chicago Bears are gearing up for their Week 1 opener against the Los Angeles Rams in prime-time, where there are a slew of matchups that will go a long way in determining whether the Bears can pull off an upset of the heavily-favored Rams on Sunday Night Football.

While there are questions on the offensive side of the ball, there are some pretty important matchups that will dictate just how long of a night it’ll be for quarterback Andy Dalton. The Bears defense really needs to step up against this Rams offense now sporting quarterback Matthew Stafford, a familiar foe for this defense.

Here are four matchups to watch as the Bears head into their Week 1 game against the Rams.

Biggest question marks for Bears entering 2021 season

Ahead of their Week 1 game, we’re taking a look at the biggest question marks as the Bears enter the 2021 NFL season.

The Chicago Bears are gearing up for the start of the 2021 season, where they’ll face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football. But despite the prime-time spotlight, there are plenty of questions surrounding this team heading into the new year.

Whether it’s positions of need or questions about when rookie quarterback Justin Fields will see his first NFL regular-season action, there’s plenty to watch for this season.

Ahead of their Week 1 game, we’re taking a look at the biggest question marks facing the Bears.

It sounds like Bears RT Germain Ifedi is returning to practice on Monday

It’s been doom and gloom for the Bears O-line, but there’s finally some good news as RT Germain Ifedi is expected to return to practice.

There’s been a lot of doom and gloom surrounding the Bears when it comes to the offensive line, especially on the injury front. But Chicago finally got some good news as all signs are pointing to starting right tackle Germain Ifedi returning to practice on Monday.

Ifedi, who has been on the Physically Unable to Perform list with a hip flexor, will practice for the first time in training camp.

According to NBC Sports Chicago’s Adam Hoge, Ifedi is scheduled to meet with the media today, which indicates he’ll be at practice.

With the return of Ifedi — and the addition of Jason Peters, who is the likely starting left tackle — the Bears will likely have their starting offensive line for the 2021 season in tact for the first time in training camp.

The Bears later confirmed the move:

This news comes on the heels of second-round rookie Teven Jenkins undergoing back surgery, which will hold him out indefinitely. Chicago signed Peters to compete for the starting left tackle job, where he’ll be competing with fifth-round rookie Larry Borom, who held up nicely at left tackle with the second-team offense last Saturday against the Bills.

The tackle position has been a huge area of concern for the Bears throughout training camp, so getting a veteran like Ifedi back in the mix is good news when it feel like there’s been nothing but bad news on the offensive line front.
