Georgia football injury report for Week 3 matchup vs Tennessee

Georgia football full injury report ahead of Week 3 matchup vs Tennessee.

We are just moments away from kicking off week three of the college football season in between the hedges.  Today’s matchup features the No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers (2-0, 2-0) taking on the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs (2-0, 2-0).

Georgia will try and end the Vols eight game win streak dating back to last season while Tennessee looks to knock off the Dawgs’ and their stellar defense.

Here is a look at Georgia’s injuries going into today’s matchup.

Stetson Bennett has a jammed finger that shouldn’t be much of an issue at all.  He participated in practice this week with no limitations and will play Saturday.  Bennett currently has the 2nd overall QBR in all of college football at 94.4.

Warren McClendon played well last week against Auburn, getting his first start against the Tigers.  McClendon has been dealing with some cramping but is expected to play against Tennessee.

Florida State tight end transfer Tre’ McKitty left the field this preseason with a minor knee injury. McKitty underwent arthroscopic knee surgery and is expected to be back very soon. Redshirt sophomore John FitzPatrick and  freshman Darnell Washington have been filling in on first-team reps since McKitty’s injury.  McKitty cold very well make his debut for the Bulldogs today.

Wide receiver Tommy Bush is dealing with an unknown injury that has forced him to miss a good chunk of the preseason. Bush is a very talented receiver that can’t seem to catch a break with injuries. He was sidelined for the majority of last season dealing with a sports hernia. Bush is listed as questionable against Tennessee.

Webb has not played yet this season due to an ankle injury. Justin Shaffer and Ben Cleveland got the start last week at the guard positions. Warren Ericson and Trey Hill rotated with them last week, but the Dawgs are hoping to get some more reinforcements after losing three offensive linemen to the NFL this offseason.

James Cook suffered a shoulder injury during the Auburn game that has limited him this week in practice.  Kirby Smart said he probably could’ve gone back in but they want to keep him healthy.  Cook is listed as questionable against Tennessee.

Goede suffered an ACL tear during his senior year of high school and has battled numerous other injuries since healing. Goede didn’t travel to Arkansas and didn’t play against Auburn but thankfully the Dawgs are deep at the tight end position.  Georgia could get Tre’ McKitty back this week and have John FitzPatrick, Darnell Washington and Brett Seither ready to go.

USC transfer quarterback J.T. Daniels has been cleared for contact following the recovery of an ACL injury he suffered with the Trojans last year.  The former 5-star recruit is ready to go but it is expected that Stetson Bennett will get the start as he has been at the top of his game.

Arian Smith is still recovering from his second knee surgery since arriving in Athens in 2019.  Smith could potentially make a return after the Dawgs bye week on October 31st as Todd Monken and Kirby Smart are eager to get him in the mix offensively.

Wide receiver Dominick Blaylock went down with an ACL tear during preseason camp. Blaylock injured the same knee he hurt in the 2019 SEC Championship game against LSU. The sophomore was just getting back to full health when he devastatingly injured it again. This is a huge hit to the Bulldogs pass game for 2020.

The No. 1 cornerback in the 2020 recruiting class, Kelee Ringo, underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum before preseason camp. The injury will force him to miss all of 2020, a tough loss for the Bulldogs. Georgia luckily has lots of depth at the position and will be alright defending the pass game without him.

The No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers (2-0, 2-0) travel to Athens this week to face off against the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs (2-0, 2-0).

Tennessee has been red hot under third-year head coach Jeremy Pruitt.  The Vols have won eight consecutive games dating back to last season.  They are coming off an impressive 35-12 win over the Missouri Tigers.

Georgia looked playoff ready last week against Auburn, beating them by a score of 27-6.  The Dawgs defense was absolutely lockdown against Auburn quarterback Bo Nix and crew, allowing only two field goals the entire game out of the Tigers.
