Appalachian State is 2-2 after shocking then-No. 6 Texas A&M 17-14 on the road Sept. 10. The Mountaineers followed that with a 32-28 thrilling victory over visiting Troy but then lost at home to James Madison 32-28 Sept. 24. As if it couldn’t get any worse, it did.
