James Cook for six — extends Georgia’s lead over Missouri

Georgia football now leads 42-14 after a James Cook run in the UGA vs Missouri game.

Georgia’s offense is grooving right now.

Leading 35-14 thanks to a 43 yard Zamir White touchdown, Georgia got the ball again and drove right down the field.

Three straight throws to true freshman Darnell Washington helped get the Dawgs into scoring position before James Cook took a handoff for 10 yards to give UGA a first and goal.

On that next play, offensive coordinator Todd Monken went to Cook again, who took the end-around 9 yards for a score.

That’s Cook’s second touchdown of the game. He has six carries for 41 yards and 1 catch for 37 yards.

Georgia vs Mizzou: Zamir White takes it to the house; having a huge game

Georgia football RB Zamir White took a run 43 yards to the house to give UGA a 35-14 lead over Missouri.

Leading 28-14 in the third quarter, Georgia was driving again, using the ground game to chew clock and wear down the Tigers.

The drive was capped off by a 43 yard touchdown run by Georgia running back Zamir White, who extended the Dawgs lead 35-14 over No. 9 ranked Missouri.

White has 12 carries for 126 yards and now a touchdown.

George Pickens again! Georgia football extends lead on 3rd down TD

Georgia football scores on yet another third down after JT Daniels hit George Pickens for a 32 yard score.

George Pickens did it again.

On third down and 10 from the Missouri 32 yard line, JT Daniels looked for his favorite target, Pickens, on a slant route.

A perfect throw that hit Pickens in stride allowed the sophomore receiver to do the rest.

Georgia leads 28-14.

Pickens now has a score from 36 and 32 yards. He currently has 103 yards and 2 touchdowns. Daniels has 198 yards and three touchdowns. Still very early in the second half.

JT Daniels bombs it to George Pickens for a Georgia touchdown

Georgia football took back the lead against Missouri on a 36 yard touchdown grab from George Pickens.

Tied at 14 with under a minute to go, Georgia needed points to swing the momentum back into the Dawgs’ favor.

From the 36 yard line, JT Daniels saw Mizzou jump offside and tossed a bomb to George Pickens, who fought through a pass interference for a touchdown.

Georgia takes back the lead.

21-14, Dawgs.

Why Georgia Will Win

And there’s the running game.

South Carolina might be on fumes, but it was still an impressive performance by Georgia last week as it ripped through with its ground attack or a season-high 332 yards in the 45-16 win.

QB JT Daniels got the passing game going against Mississippi State the week before – there wasn’t any need to run it, but the eight yards against the Bulldogs were alarming – and then came last week’s dominance.

Missouri’s defense has been a rock for most of the year, but it also hasn’t faced a whole lot of teams that want to run the ball regularly – and efficiently.

The Tigers were hit from all sides in the 50-48 win over Arkansas last week – allowing 566 yards – and now comes the Georgia balance.

Week 15 College Schedule

Why Missouri Will Win

The Georgia secondary has been a problem.

The defense overall has been great – it’s the second-best in the SEC – and it doesn’t allow a whole slew of big plays, but teams are able to dink and dunk way too consistently.

Florida and Alabama each bombed away for over 400 yards, and Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi State all pushed past 200 yards.

Missouri QB Connor Bazelak keeps getting better and better, following up his 318-yard day against Vanderbilt with 380 against Arkansas. He’s not throwing a ton of touchdown passes – just five so far with four of those coming against LSU – but he’s also not throwing picks.

What’s Going To Happen

The Missouri defense will get back to form.

Georgia won’t run the ball like it did against South Carolina, Mizzou will control the clock and the tempo, and the offense will convert on every opportunity.

The Bulldogs will win – the defense will rise up when it has to – but the Tigers are 5-1 at home, and that one loss was a decent fight against Alabama to kick things off.

Georgia football game vs Missouri has been postponed

The Georgia football game vs Missouri has been postponed due to COVID.

[jwplayer FLmgCOt1]

The Georgia vs Missouri football game, which was scheduled for this weekend in Columbia, Missouri, has been postponed, the SEC announced.

The reason being positive COVID tests and contact tracing within the Tigers’ football program.

The No. 12 ranked Bulldogs were set to take on Missouri Saturday at noon in a game that was to be televised on the SEC Network.

The SEC released a statement:

The Georgia at Missouri football game of November 14 has been postponed due to combination of positive tests, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within the Missouri football program, consistent with Southeastern Conference COVID-19 management requirements.

Because Missouri has a game tentatively scheduled for December 12, the opportunity to reschedule the Georgia at Missouri game will need to be evaluated. The rescheduling of games on the remaining SEC football schedule may include December 19 as a playing date.

With Missouri already playing Vanderbilt on December 12, the date the conference set aside for make-up games, this game may be forced to be played on December 19, the date of the SEC Championship, per the SEC’s release.

Alabama at LSU and Texas A&M at Tennessee, both scheduled for this weekend, have also been postponed for the same reasons.

Georgia plays at home against Mississippi State the following weekend.

Assuming this goes on and doesn’t get thrown on the pile of postponed SEC games …

Why Georgia Will Win

Missouri doesn’t force enough mistakes to help its cause.

The defense has a whole lot of issues, giving up 35 points or more in four of the five games, and with just four takeaways with just one interception. Considering turnovers have been a big issue for the Bulldogs, here’s their break.

Why can’t Mizzou force big plays? Part of the reason is the lack of pressure – it’s just not getting anyone in the backfield often enough. On the other side, the offensive is having too many issue with good defensive fronts, and Georgia – even with the issue against Alabama and Florida – has the best pass rush in the SEC and the best run defense by far. However …

Why Missouri Will Win

Part of the reason Georgia’s run defense is so statistically good is because everyone throws on this secondary. It wasn’t miserable early on, but it allowed 200 yards or more in two of the three games. Alabama? 417 yards. Florida? Kyle Trask went off for 474 yards.

Connor Bazelak has grown into the Missouri quarterback job, throwing for 200 yards or more in each of the last four games with no picks in the last three.

With two weeks off, this is a rested and ready team, and …

What’s Going To Happen

Georgia is beaten up. That was a BRUTAL game against Florida, with a slew of big injuries, a whole lot of big hits, and worst of all, a loss that reasonably ended any SEC and College Football Playoff championship hopes.

Bulldog QB Stetson Bennett hurt his shoulder and is iffy at best, but there are plenty of options to throw into the mix to get everything moving. Star WR George Pickens is back, and the defense should be able to hold down the Mizzou running game.

The Tigers are 0-3 when they don’t run for 180 yards. They won’t run for 180 yards.
