Georgia at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 72, Georgia 53

Moneyline

AVOID.

Even with Tennessee (-1700) expected to win easily, taking it straight up at the current odds isn’t worth a wager.

Against the spread

The Volunteers look like one of the best teams in the nation right now, so TENNESSEE -16.5 (-115) is the lean. It’s a massive spread to cover, but the Volunteers are 8-2 ATS when favored by 10 or more points.

Tennessee is also 5-2 ATS in its last 7 home games against a team with a losing road record and the home team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these teams.

Over/Under

Both of these teams are stingy defensive squads, making UNDER 134.5 (-105) an enticing wager in this SEC matchup. The Volunteers allow the 2nd-fewest points per game (54.4) in the nation, while the Bulldogs surrender a modest 66.1 points per game.

Georgia at Tennessee odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Georgia Bulldogs at Tennessee Volunteers odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs (9-0, 7-0 SEC) visit the Tennessee Volunteers (5-4, 3-3) Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Georgia vs. Tennessee odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The top-ranked Bulldogs continue to take on and dominate all challengers. Georgia spanked Missouri 43-6 last Saturday, cashing the Under for the fifth consecutive outing. UGA has allowed just 59 total points through nine outings.

The Volunteers inched closer to bowl eligibility with a 45-42 win at Kentucky last Saturday, snapping a two-game losing and non-cover skid. Tennessee is 3-2 SU/2-3 ATS in five home games.

Georgia at Tennessee odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Georgia 37, Tennessee 13

Money line

Georgia (-1100) should be able to keep steaming through Tennessee, but you can’t risk 11 times your possible return.

PASS and look to the number instead.

Against the spread

GEORGIA -20.5 (-105) is the play, mainly because the defense just doesn’t give anything up. The Dawgs have allowed just 6.6 points per game (PPG), tops in the nation, while ranking second in total yards allowed (232.4), passing yards allowed (151.1) and rushing yards allowed (81.3) per game.

Tennessee will be the biggest challenge for Georgia’s defense as the Vols rank 15th overall with 28.2 PPG. But even the Vols won’t be able to derail the UGA train.

Over/Under

The UNDER 56.5 (-112) is the play as Georgia’s defense has been absolutely amazing. Betting Overs and the Bulldogs just do not mix.

The Under is 5-0 in the past five games overall for Georgia, 4-1 in the past five on the road and 4-0 in the past four against teams with a winning record.

For Tennessee, while the Over is 4-1 in the previous five outings, the Under is 10-3 in its past 13 games at Neyland.

Georgia at Tennessee: Three things to know

  1. The Bulldogs are coming off a 73-70 win over visiting Vanderbilt Saturday. The victory — logged in part by the strength of a 58.7% shooting performance — marked UGA’s third in a row. The Bulldogs are 5-2 since dropping four straight from Dec. 30-Jan. 13.
  2. The Volunteers are coming off a hard-fought 82-71 win over Kentucky Saturday. Tennessee rallied from being down 10 with 12 minutes to play in that contest. Freshman G Keon Johnson scored a season-high 27 points to lead the Vols.
  3. Tennessee is playing in Knoxville for the first time since Jan. 30. Over their last seven games on home hardwood, UT is just 5-2 straight up and 2-5 against the spread.

Georgia at Tennessee: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 74, Georgia 63

Money line (ML)

Georgia has played a weak schedule, so it’s hard to find applicable comps for the type of challenge presented by a top-15 squad like the Vols.

The gulf between these ML figures is too wide. Georgia is the lean in closest proximity, but no value can be found south of +715.

PASS.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The 2-5 ATS Tennessee trend at home and the two-touchdown spread make Georgia the lean in this one.

UT’s shooting numbers have gotten iffy over the last month. Georgia’s quick-tempo, turnover-transition game cuts into a weakness for UT; the Vols logged ATS losses to comparable Alabama, Arkansas, and Florida in that department.

TAKE THE BULLDOGS +12.5 (-110) on just a moderate lean.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS on a well-made number between the rabbit-pace Bulldogs and turtle-tempo Vols.
