Georgia Bulldogs tight end Mitchell Werntz walked on to the team in 2018 and took a redshirt. Werntz participated in spring drills in both 2018 and 2019, but hasn’t seen any game action.

Werntz played both football and baseball at Marist High School. He played through a torn UCL as a senior in high school. He’s intending to major in Biological Engineering.

Werntz was a member of the class of 2017 coming out of high school. He played defensive end and tight end for Marist. Check out his highlights:

Height: 6-5

Weight: 228 pounds

Hometown: Clearwater, Florida

High School: Clearwater Central Catholic

Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brett Seither redshirted during the 2019 season as a freshman. Seither appeared in both the Arkansas State and Murray State games.

Seither game to Athens, Georgia as a three-star prospect in the class of 2019 out of Clearwater Central Catholic High School. Seither committed to UGA over Alabama.

Seither will compete for playing time among returning tight ends behind John Fitzpatrick. Georgia additionally added Florida State transfer Tre’ McKitty and 2020 five-star TE Darnell Washington this offseason.

McKitty racked up 520 yards over the last two seasons at FSU.

Will Seither be able to earn playing time this season? One of his best skills is his ability to win the jump ball:

He’ll face a battle to make the field, but will provide quality depth this season. Fans should remember his name in the coming years.
