George Karl criticizes Sixers’ Joel Embiid for having bad body language

Former NBA coach George Karl criticizes Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid for having bad body language.

At this stage of the season, Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid has vaulted himself into the favorite role to win his first MVP award after finishing as the runner-up to Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic for two consecutive seasons.

Embiid has scored 30-plus points in nine straight games, a Sixers franchise record, and he is leading the league in scoring at 33.5 points while shooting an efficient 54.6% from the floor. He has been absolutely phenomenal on both ends of the floor.

However, not everybody sees him as such. Former NBA coach George Karl hopped on Sirius XM Radio and had this to say about Embiid:

I don’t want to bad mouth Embiid because I think he’s really, really good. A lot of my assistant coaches were in Philadelphia when he was a young player, they kept telling me that he was going to be the best guy to ever play the game. I see him moving in that direction, but he takes too many possessions off. He has lazy, body language. He gets angry at things that we don’t understand why. I just don’t know if he’s that NBA pro that we all love because he’s a competitive SOB. From what I know in Philadelphia, everybody says he’s playing great. In games I’ve seen, he played really really well. He’s played great in the fourth quarters, came up with a lot of comeback wins. I can only like one big guy, and I take Jokic over Embiid.

Embiid has been absolutely terrific since the All-Star break as he has been terrific on both ends of the floor. He has been dominant offensively and he has taken his defensive intensity to another level. Does he take some plays off here and there? Sure, but there shouldn’t be any questions about his dominance out on the floor.

Ex-Nuggets coach George Karl calls for Broncos to fire Nathaniel Hackett

Ex-Nuggets coach George Karl said it’s time for Broncos GM George Paton to “make the move.”

Denver Broncos fans are unhappy with coach Nathaniel Hackett, and they’re not alone.

Former Denver Nuggets coach George Karl took to Twitter after the Broncos’ 17-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and called for Hackett to be fired.

“Make the move, Paton. It’s unfortunately time,” the ex-NBA coach tweeted.

Karl, of course, was referencing Denver general manager George Paton, who has hiring and firing power for the team’s coaching staff.

Hackett’s first season in charge has not gone well as the Broncos have started with a 3-6 record, putting them well outside the playoff picture.

Karl had a six-year career as a player in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs from 1973-1978 before transitioning to coaching. He coached the Nuggets from 2005-2013, reaching the playoffs in all nine seasons, including a conference finals run in the 2008-2009 season.

Karl won NBA Coach of the Year honors in 2013 and later spent two seasons coaching the Sacramento Kings before being fired in 2016. His coaching career ended with a win-loss record of 1,175-824 and eight first-place division finishes.

George Karl says Nuggets should trade for LeBron James

Former NBA coach George Karl thinks his old team should make a play for the Lakers’ franchise player.

With an 0-5 record, the Los Angeles Lakers are already teetering on the brink of disaster in the early going of the NBA season, at least in the minds of some fans and observers.

A portion of this contingent thinks the Lakers have failed to put enough support around LeBron James, and that they should blow it up and start over again.

Yes, that means these people think the Lakers should trade LeBron James. Never mind that he recently signed an extension to remain with the team through at least the 2023-24 season, and that owner Jeanie Buss would never even think about getting rid of a box-office superstar who always fills seats at Crypto.com Arena.

After the Denver Nuggets beat L.A. on Wednesday, George Karl, their former coach, went on Twitter to make a radical suggestion to his old team.

The Nuggets are considered by most to be contenders. They possess two-time reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and star guard Jamal Murray, who is back from an injured ACL. Yet, there is a feeling they lack something needed to go all the way.

In theory, James could be that something, and then some. But there is no chance in hell he or the Lakers would ever consider something like this, at least not anytime soon.

It is also a fair question as to whether the Nuggets would even be interested, given James’ advanced age and humongous contract.

27-year coaching veteran George Karl …

27-year coaching veteran George Karl recently spoke out in frustration over the 2020 Bubble being regarded in the same tier as any other NBA postseason. What specifically about the bubble he’s referring to or what triggered his question in the first place remains unclear. “Can we please stop talking about the ‘20 Bubble like it was the same event as all other NBA playoffs??” While not directly shading the Lakers, most fans took it as a logical assumption to see it as a slight to LA’s title. That elicited various responses calling George Karl out. Some fans argued that if anything, the bubble offered a greater challenge in its title chase that the NBA has never seen before and likely (hopefully) never will again.
