WATCH: Colts’ Gardner Minshew runs for 17-yard TD vs. Browns

Gardner Minshew was moving on this 17-yard touchdown run.

Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson may be done for the season, but he’s already rubbing off on Gardner Minshew.

To cap off a six-play, 57-yard drive, Minshew shook his way to a 17-yard touchdown run to give the Colts a 14-7 lead near the end of the first quarter.

Gardner Minshew is taking the Browns’ NFL-best defense to school

Gardner Minshew and the Colts are demolishing the Browns’ NFL-best defense, because of course they are.

There’s a reason that “Any given Sunday” is a cliche — because it’s true. One thing you would NOT expect is for the Indianapolis Colts with backup quarterback Gardner Minshew to be taking it to the Cleveland Browns’ NFL-best defense. But that’s exactly what’s happened early on.

First with 11:38 left in the first quarter, there was this 59-yard touchdown pass to Josh Downs in which the Browns were offside, Minshew had a free play, and he perfectly exploited Cleveland’s coverage for the big play on a post/wheel concept.

Then, with 4:28 left in the first quarter, Minshew took off himself, took advantage of a bad angle by safety Grant Delpit (who’s usually awesome), and trucked in for a 17-yard touchdown run.

Not a bad early result as the Colts have lost Anthony Richardson for the rest of the season with a Grade 3 AC joint sprain in his right (throwing) shoulder.

Browns, Colts trade big-play touchdowns early

Jerome Ford and Josh Downs were probably not on many fantasy football players’ cards

The Browns are minus Nick Chubb for the season. That doesn’t mean their running game is dormant.

Early in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts, Jerome Ford showed he has some pretty good wheels. Get it? Ford has some good wheels.

The 69-yard run on Sunday put the visiting Browns on top of the Colts, 7-0.

The lead didn’t last as Gardner Minshew, playing for Anthony Richardson, who is done for 2023, hit Josh Downs for a TD pass that was good for 59 yards.

Colts vs. Browns: 5 things to watch in Week 7

Here are five things to watch in the Week 7 matchup.

The Indianapolis Colts are heading into Week 7 coming off a rough divisional loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. They will be hosting the Cleveland Browns, a franchise they haven’t faced since 2020.

Indy is 8-2 against Cleveland since 2002 and the last time the Browns won in Lucas Oil Stadium came in 2011. This contest could end up having playoff implications in a crowded AFC playoff picture come the end of the year.

Here are five things to watch for when the two teams hit the field on Sunday afternoon:

The Browns have had their highs this season, but they have also had a couple of lows as well. Can they stack back-to-back wins for the first time in 2023 this weekend as they travel to Indianapolis?

That is the end goal. However, there is news to catch up on before we get to Sunday. Here is all of the Browns news you might have missed from yesterday. Enjoy!

Fantasy Football: Quarterback starts and sits for Week 7

Starts and sits is here to help fantasy managers make those all important last minute lineup decisions .While we won’t tell you about obvious starts such as Christian McCaffrey or Tyreek Hill, we will find players you may be waffling about and help you make a decision.

Let’s look at quarterbacks for Week 7.

Colts rookie QB Anthony Richardson’s season could be over

The Colts might have to finish the season without Anthony Richardson.

According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, the rookie season of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Jr. might be over. Richardson suffered a shoulder injury and the Colts placed him on IR but now he could end up having season-ending surgery.

Richardson was off to a strong start in 2023. His raw athleticism is off the charts and his arm talent is elite. Richardson was playing with a ton of confidence but it was clear he opened himself up to far much contact with his style of play.

With Richardson out, the Colts have turned to Gardner Minshew to handle the offense. The Colts selected Richardson with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft.

Studs and duds from Colts’ 37-20 loss to Jaguars

Checking out the studs and duds from the Colts’ 37-20 loss to the Jaguars.

The Indianapolis Colts (3-3) lost their second game against the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2) on Sunday down at TIAA Bank Field by a 37-20 score.

Here are the studs and duds from the Colts’ loss in Week 6:

5 takeaways from Colts’ 37-20 loss to Jaguars

Here are five takeaways from the Colts’ 37-20 loss to the Jaguars.

Death, taxes, and the Indianapolis Colts losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Duval County.

This marks the ninth straight loss for the Colts in Jacksonville and it is the first time that the Jags swept the season series since 2017. The offense started the game off on a good note with a field goal drive to start the game but it was all downhill after that. Gardner Minshew had his worst performance as a Colt.

He was shaky all afternoon. Minshew was responsible for the four turnovers by the Colts and could have had some more if the Jaguars defenders didn’t drop interception opportunities. The Indy defense had a slow start but started to play better as the game went on but got no help from the offense until it was too late.

There are not many positives to take from Indianapolis in this dreadful loss but here are five takeaways from the matchup:
