Eagles have favorable spotlight games this season

They may not be America’s Team (debatable) but the Philadelphia Eagles have a share of FOX Sports America’s Game of the Week this season.

They may not be America’s Team (debatable) but the Philadelphia Eagles have a share of FOX Sports America’s Game of the Week this season with at least three featured games.

FOX Sports weekly features their “America’s Game of the Week” for games that might be interesting to watch. Week 1 features the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. The NFC North matchup will be interesting to watch after Aaron Rodgers left Green Bay.

The defending NFC Champions will be in the spotlight this season as they attempt a repeat Super Bowl appearance – something very difficult for the losing Super Bowl team in recent years. They share the spotlight with five primetime games and will be in the featured games of the week three times.

Their first game of the week comes in Week 6 against the New York Jets. It will be interesting to watch a future Hall of Fame quarterback in Rodgers compete against the young Jalen Hurts. It’ll also be great practice for some of the younger guys competing against each other in both teams getting at each others’ veteran players.

The second game comes in Week 9 against their division rival, Dallas Cowboys. It seems like this game is a given considering the Eagles-Cowboys rivalry is featured every year. Besides this game of the week, the two teams will face off again in primetime.

At this point, it might potentially be the Eagles and Cowboys competing for the division so these two games will garner a lot of attention.

The final “America’s Game of the Week” feature comes in Week 13 in the NFC Championship rematch with the San Francisco 49ers. It’s a little surprising that this game isn’t a primetime game considering the rivalry between fans and teams, but it will still garner attention anyway.

Both teams improving from last season, it will be interesting to see who’s able to come out on top again.

This would be a game that each team keeps circled because the conference may come down to both of those teams and makes the difference of who is first and second in the conference.

You could argue that another interesting game that could be flexed is the return of former defensive coordinator-turned-head coach Jonathan Gannon and the Arizona Cardinals against the Eagles on New Year’s Eve – but that might put Philadelphia in an uproar on a holiday.

No matter what, the Eagles are going to get a lot of attention and be hyper-analyzed this season. The team is going to continue doing them and focusing on these featured and primetime games.

Broadcast team set for week one vs Green Bay

The Vikings scored FOX’s number one team for week one

The Vikings have had their fair share of different broadcast teams over the years. One of the games that has relative consistently is when they play the Green Bay Packers.

More often than not, the game is a featured one on either Fox or a primetime matchup on ESPN’s Monday Night Football or NBC’s Sunday Night Football.

Opening up the season on September 11th, the Vikings host the Packers in Fox’s Game of the Week, drawing their number one broadcast crew.

Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen step in for Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. They had held the top spot for Fox since 2002 when they replaced Pat Summerall and John Madden.

Not only is it a big game for the Vikings, but it will be a national audience at 3:25 central time.

247Sports deems Red River Shootout best game of Week 6

The 2021 Red River Shootout is viewed by 247Sports as the best matchup of Week 6. Why wouldn’t it be?

Arguably the best rivalry in college football, the Red River Showdown, will have huge implications for both Texas and Oklahoma’s postseason aspirations. The Sooners have won this matchup three times in a row, but by very close margins.

After two years of Oklahoma blowouts in 2011 and 2012, the games since 2013 have been decided by an average of 6.5 points. This year’s matchup could be the most important meeting between the teams, on national terms, since the Mack Brown era.

In a season that Oklahoma has a much more experienced quarterback, Spencer Rattler, who tore up the Big 12 and what was left of Florida last year, the Sooners have a playoff appearance on their mind.

On the other hand, the Longhorns have a new era of Texas football on the horizon under Steve Sarkisian, and they do not want a grace period we have grown accustomed to when there is a new coach. The program and fan base alike are aware of the talent Texas has on its roster. The Longhorns have the potential to be a consistent contender in the Big 12.

It would be an utter disservice to this rivalry game if any other game was ranked ahead of it that particular week. Recently, 247Sports pinpointed each must-see matchup of the week. To no surprise, the Red River Showdown was the choice for Week 6.

Here are the matchups that 247Sports views as the game of the week for the 2021 season.

It’s worth noting Oklahoma and Iowa State’s Week 12 matchup is also on the list likely due to the implications it will have not only their seasons, but Texas’ as well.

If Texas or TCU beat either Oklahoma or Iowa State and have a chance to make the conference title, assuming they beat everyone else, the Week 12 matchup between the Sooners and Cyclones will likely determine which of those two teams make the Big 12 Championship. On the other hand, if history repeats itself, the Week 12 matchup can serve as a preview for the conference championship.

All of the Week 12 speculation between Oklahoma and Iowa State can be thrown out the window if the Longhorns find a way to avenge their quadruple overtime loss in last year’s matchup with the Sooners.

Florida vs Ole Miss is ESPN’s Game of the Week this Saturday

With less than a week before game time, ESPN has declared Florida vs. Ole Miss its Game of the Week for Week 4 of college football play.

Florida Gators football is set to kick off this Saturday, Sept. 26, in Oxford, Miss., against the Ole Miss Rebels at 12 p.m. EDT in one of a pair of matchups to start the Southeastern Conference’s 2020 season. With less than a week before game time, ESPN has declared the game its Game of the Week for Week 4 of college football play.

The Gators enter the weekend ranked No. 6 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY and No. 5 in the Associated Press Poll while the Rebels are unranked on both ballots. Florida is expected to vie for at least a New Years Six Bowl this year — and possibly a College Football Playoff berth — and is one of a handful of SEC teams at the top of both polls.

Ole Miss hold the edge in the all-time series between the two schools, with a record of 12-11-1. The two teams first met in 1926 when the Rebels hunted down the Gators on their own turf, 12-7. UF won its most recent matchup in 2015 with a 38-10 blowout victory at The Swamp.
