Rutgers football is doing A-OK with N’Kye Wynn after an offer this week: ‘Couldn’t stop smiling’

N’Kye Wynn talks about his recent Rutgers football offer.

N’Kye Wynn was offered by Rutgers football this week and already, the Big Ten program is doing well with the offensive lineman from Michigan.

Michigan has increasingly become a focal point for Rutgers football recruiting in recent years. In the 2024 cycle, Rutgers landed three-star linebacker [autotag]Montele Johnson[/autotag] and three-star tight end [autotag]Monte Keener[/autotag].

In addition, four-star running back [autotag]Gabriel Winowich[/autotag] transferred from Detroit Country Day School (Beverly Hills, Michigan) to New Jersey for his senior season.

Now, back to Wynn.

His offer from Rutgers came during a video call with head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag].

“I got on a call with coach Schiano. We talked a little bit about my life and what I do on and off the field. But he gave me chills because of how passionate he is about family, character and football,” Wynn told Rutgers Wire this week.

“Then once we got to know each other, he offered me. I was very excited and happy, I was smiling from ear-to-ear and couldn’t stop smiling. I don’t have a visit with those guys set yet but me on the lookout.”

It has been a process for Wynn to get to know Rutgers, but the relationship is one that seems to be developing.

Per 247Sports, Wynn is a 6-foot-5, 250-pound interior offensive lineman is a three-star as well as the No. 17 player in Michigan. He holds offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky and Pittsburgh among others.

“I started talking to Rutgers back during the season with coach Ruiz (director of recruiting Ramon Ruiz),” Wynn said

“They wanted to get me there for a gameday visit. I think Rutgers has an amazing program. They are a top 25 school for academics – that’s big for me, very important.

“I’ve been talking with coach Hux (quality control assistant Jordan Huxtable) a lot, that’s my guy. We talk a lot about the family and culture that Rutgers has,

“They go by FTC (Faith, Trust, CHOP) which is very inspirational once you know the meaning but it’s also a way of life.”

Rutgers football offers ’27 Anthony Cartwright

Anthony Cartwright gets offered by Rutgers football.

Rutgers football became the latest program to officially get involved in with sophomore tight end Anthony Cartwright from Michigan. The Big Ten program offered Cartwright on Thursday.

He is a class of 2027 recruit from Detroit Country Day School (Beverly Hills, Michigan). The offer from Rutgers is the latest in a recruitment that is certainly blowing up.

Cartwright’s offer list is already impressive and makes him a national recruit. The 6-foot-4, 198-pound tight end has been extended by Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan and Michigan State among others.

He also plays basketball for Detroit Country Day.

On Thursday evening, Cartwright posted about the offer from Rutgers, tagging head coach Greg Schiano and tight ends coach Scott Vallone:

Vallone was recently promoted to tight ends coach after serving Rutgers as the offensive line assistant the past two years.

[lawrence-related id=36671,36683]

A multi-year starter at Rutgers, Vallone went on and played in the NFL for three teams before transitioning into coaching.

Rutgers has had success in recruiting Detroit Country Day in recent years. [autotag]Gabriel Winowich[/autotag], a four-star running back and part of the 2024 recruiting class for Rutgers, played his first three seasons of high school football at Detroit Country Day.

At the time of his commitment last year, Winowich was matriculated in the school. He transferred over the summer to play his senior season at Notre Dame Prep (Lawrenceville, New Jersey).

Cartwright’s most recent offer came on March 15 from Tulane.

What members of the ’24 Rutgers football recruiting class are four-star recruits?

Rutgers football’s 2024 recruiting class includes six players ranked as a four-star.

Rutgers football pieced together a very strong recruiting class, one that is balanced and talented.

And in what is an encouraging uptick in recruiting, the class features a significant number of blue-chip recruits.

A total of six committed (and signed) players are ranked as four-star recruits by the big four recruiting services (On3, 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals). While there is no single Rutgers player who is a consensus four-star, three of the six players ranked have been given four-star status by multiple media outlets.

Below are the six players who have been ranked a four-star in the 2024 Rutgers football recruiting class. Their On3 Industry Ranking (which averages the four major recruiting sites) is used to order the rankings:

How many top 10 players in New Jersey’s 2024 class committed to Rutgers football?

How did Rutgers football do in New Jersey’s top 10?

Rutgers football did a very solid job of retaining New Jersey’s top talent during this recruiting cycle. In fact, this might have been the best job of keeping players in-state that has been done by head coach Greg Schiano and his staff since his return to Rutgers four years ago.

A look at recruiting in New Jersey is especially significant given a recent report that had the Garden State growing among the most NFL players per capita. In a recent study, New Jersey ranked twelfth in the nation in sending players to the NFL.

If Rutgers can keep New Jersey’s top talent in-state, then it will have the chance to compete with the best in the Big Ten as well as being consistently ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation.

Rutgers was one of two teams to land multiple top-five players in the class of 2024 from New Jersey, according to 247Sports. They were the only program to register three players from the state’s top 10.

Georgia swept the state’s top two players (No. 1 Jordan Thomas and No. 2 Nyier Daniels) but then Rutgers registered next with No. 3 Chase Winowich and No. 4 A.J. Surace.

Both Winowich (a running back) and Surace (a quarterback) attended Notre Dame Prep in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Winowich, a four-star, is the highest-ranked commit in this class for Rutgers.

He is also a four-star according to ESPN.

Rutgers also pulled in [autotag]Kaj Sanders[/autotag], an athlete from Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, New Jersey). Sanders is No. 9 in 247Sports’ rankings for New Jersey.

[lawrence-related id=35228,35211,35176]

Those are three strong pulls for Rutgers in what was a bit of a down year for recruits in New Jersey.

The 2025 recruiting class for Rutgers has two current commits, with one coming from New Jersey.

Last week, [autotag]Talibi Kaba[/autotag] gave his verbal to Rutgers. The athlete from Hillside (Hillside, New Jersey) chose Rutgers over offers from Boston College, Duke and Iowa State among others.

He said the pursuit from Rutgers made him feel like a priority. That’s good news for the Scarlet Knights as they got quite the player.

[lawrence-related id=35196,35152]

He is a three-star and the No. 13 recruit in New Jersey according to 247Sports. With a strong senior season, Kaba could well finish the year top-10 in New Jersey.

Rutgers football: A pair of four-star commits visit for game against Temple

Rutgers football hosted several prominent recruits on Saturday night.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — There was a healthy turnout of recruits for Saturday night’s game against Temple, this despite massive and violent thunderstorms that struck the area two hours before the game.

Rutgers football currently has the No. 34 recruiting class in the nation. It features several four-star recruits, including defensive back Kaj Sanders and tight end K.J. Duff.

Sanders and Duff were in attendance on Saturday night.

[autotag]Gabriel Winowich[/autotag]

Last week, a huge contingent of players were at SHI Stadium for Rutgers to see the win over Northwestern. Miss the list last week? Here it is.

Interesting that Duff, Sanders, Surace and Winowich have been att both games this year.

Exclusive: Yasin Willis narrows down to three schools, set to announce commitment

New Jersey running back Yasin Willis is down to three schools.

Yasin Willis will announce his college commitment, and it is down to three schools for the New Jersey running back. Willis, who is done with his official visits, took one in June to Rutgers football.

He is a four-star recruit according to Rivals where he is also ranked the top player in New Jersey and the No. 187 recruit in the nation.

A source close to the situation tells Rutgers Wire that Alabama, Pittsburgh and Rutgers will be in the final three for Willis. Nicknamed ‘Train,’ Willis had a strong 2022 for St. Joseph’s Regional (Montvale)..

Last season in 11 games, Willis had 1,133 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. He topped 100 rushing yards in seven games.

He is a strongly built running back at 6-feet and 200 pounds. He has good speed for his size.

The recruitment of Willis was a national one in many ways. Other programs that were in the mix for Willis included Georgia and Michigan.

Willis will be making his announcement on Saturday afternoon.

Alabama does not currently have a running back in their 2024 recruiting class. Juelz Goff, a three-star recruit, committed to Pittsburgh in January.

In January, Rutgers landed four-star running back [autotag]Gabriel Winowich[/autotag]. They are also in the mix for Jason Patterson, a four-star running back from Florida who will announce on August 1.

Patterson recently said that Rutgers is recruiting him the hardest.

Four-star Gabriel Winowich sees Rutgers football trending up

Rutgers football commit Gabriel Winowich likes the direction of the 2024 recruiting class.

Gabriel Winowich is excited to see the growth of the Rutgers football recruiting class, especially

As the first four-star recruit to commit to this class (and second overall verbal), Winowich has watched this class grow. A running back from Michigan, he has been present on social media, trying to help recruit other top prospects to the program.

He will be helped by the fact that he is transferring this fall to Notre Dame Prep (Lawrenceville, N.J.) where he will be a teammate of fellow Rutgers commit, quarterback A.J. Surace. 247Sports was the first to report of Winowich’s transfer.

The Rutgers class currently stands at three commits ranked as a four-star recruit. Winowich committed in January and then tight end.wide receiver K.J Duff and Kaj Sanders have committed the past two weeks.

In talking about the pair of new four-stars in this 2024 recruiting class, Winowich echoed the sentiments of his future head coach, Greg Schiano. Set to enter his fourth year back at Rutgers, Schiano has consistently referred to his program as a developmental one.

He won’t chase stars, Schiano has said. Instead, he will recruit based off culture and fit and then develop the players.

“At the end of the day, it really doesn’t mean much on the field, but it is really just a tribute to coach Schiano and the rest of the staff on what an amazing job they’ve done,” Winowich told Rutgers Wire.

“I think you’re going to see a tumble effect with the 25’ class and so forth. coach Schiano is really building something great.”

Winowich is a four-star according to 247Sports and ESPN.

[lawrence-related id=28325]

The addition of Sanders is big for Rutgers on the field – Sanders is a big-time player who projects to see legitimate playing time as a true freshman. But his commitment also sends a message to other top recruits that Rutgers can attract top players.

Rutgers football’s four-stars react to Kaj Sanders committing

Two of the four-star commits to Rutgers football react to the addition of Kaj Sanders.

On Saturday afternoon, Rutgers football received a bigtime commitment from Kaj Sanders. The four-star safety is one of New Jersey’s top players and his announcement for Rutgers is huge for the program’s rebuild.

What the addition of Sanders does is bolster a class that already was very solid. Rutgers now has four players ranked as a four-star by one of the major recruiting services (Rivals, 247Sports, ESPN and On3).

Bringing in Sanders was greeted by one of those four-star commits, Isaiah Crumpler. A wide receiver out of North Carolina, Crumpler is a four-star according to On3.

“I love seeing Kaj Sanders commit to Rutgers, especially with all the talent we got already,” Crumpler said.

“It makes it even more exciting for the upcoming season for the 2024 class for Rutgers.

“It should let all colleges know that Rutgers is coming for every team. We are going to be back where we started, Kings of the Jungle.”

In January, Rutgers received a commitment from Gabriel Winowich. The four-star running back from Michigan was the second player to commit to the class.

[lawrence-related id=28272]

He is a four-star according to 247Sports and ESPN.

He too was excited about seeing Sanders, a top five player in New Jersey, join this Rutgers class.

“Well it’s obviously a huge get and any time you’re getting a stud like Kaj it’s a huge boost. Kaj is the type of player that is going to be a difference maker on Day 1 on the field but also the locker room,” Winowich said.

“And I know how fired up I am to be able to play alongside him for years to come not to mention the rest of this 24’ group.”

In late June, Rutgers landed a verbal from four-star tight end/wide receiver K.J. Duff. The Long Island prospect is ranked the top player in New York according to Rivals.

[lawrence-related id=28283,28265]

What do you mean Rutgers football doesn’t have any four-star commits in this class? (and who might be next to join these three verbals)

Rutgers football has a solid recruiting class that features three athletes ranked as four star recruits.

On Thursday night, Rutgers football landed K.J. Duff, a four-star tight end/wide receiver from Long Island. This now puts this current Rutgers class at three recruits who are ranked as four-stars.

And there could be more in the mix.

Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano has been adamant about not looking at the star ratings but trying to find talented players who are the right fit. But Schiano has done a solid job of landing some top-tier talent this year as his 2024 recruiting class currently stands at top 30 in the nation according to Rivals and 247Sports.

Scroll down and check what three commits are currently ranked as four-stars (spoiler alert, Duff is a four-star but that was already mentioned in this story!) and what other four-star recruits Rutgers is currently in the mix to land in the 2024 recruiting class!

Film Analysis: Gabriel Winowich is an off-the-charts verbal for Rutgers football

2024 recruit Gabriel Winowich committed to Rutgers football in January (01/15/23). Did Rutgers land a high-caliber running back in Winowich?

Gabriel Winowich committed to Rutgers football in January, giving the Big Ten program a versatile and talented athlete with strong measurables. It was a big recruiting win for Rutgers to land a highly-talented running back such as Winowich.

It was also a nice recruiting win for running backs coach Damiere Shaw.

The four-star running back from Detroit Country Day School (Beverly Hills, MI) had an excellent junior season for the Yellowjackets. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Winowich ran for 887 yards (9.3 yards per carry) with 12 touchdowns in six games last season. The class of 2024 recruit has received offers from Marshall and Maryland, turning them down to play for Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano and the Scarlet Knights.

[lawrence-related id=26565]

According to 247Sports, Winowich is the No. 192 recruit in the nation and the No. 4 in Michigan.

4.48 Seconds 3.98 Seconds 38 inches 345 Ibs. 40 Reps 505 Ibs. 476 Ibs. 315 Ibs.

Winowich is a high-talented running back that has explosiveness out of the backfield. He is a good size running back, weighing in at 220 pounds. The 2024 prospect can run defenders over or outrun them with his blazing speed. He is shifty when running the football and offers a nice stiff arm when breaking tackles. Winowich can play in multiple offensive schemes, like zone running or the Power I. In the passing game, Winowich is deadly in the screen game.

[affiliatewidget_smgtolocal]

As Winowich progresses to the next level, pass protection will be an area of development for the young prospect. Winowich remains the top-ranked commit to Rutgers football’s 2024 recruiting class as the Scarlet Knights continue to develop their program.
