Incarnate Word QB Lindsey Scott Jr. threw unbelievable TD while being sacked

How did he do that?!?

Incarnate Word quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr. made what will likely be the play of his young career against Furman in the second round of the FCS championship tournament on Saturday.

With pressure mounting from Furman on a play early in the first quarter, Scott had to make a quick decision as he was about to get hit.

Rather than just throw the ball away, take the sack and start over, the quarterback made an unbelievable throw to the red zone as he was falling down.

He amazingly found a wide-open wideout Darion Chafin, who shuffled in for the touchdown. It’s a play you must see to believe.

The 11-1 Cardinals held on to defeat Furman 41-38 on Saturday, with Scott’s heroic play the touchdown that started the momentum.

In the end, Incarnate Word moved on quarterfinals with a heck of a highlight in its back pocket.

Gallery: Clemson vs. Furman

Here are some of the best photos from Clemson’s home opener win against Furman.

Clemson opened had their first home game of the 2022 season Saturday as the Tigers defeated Furman 35-12 in Death Valley.

There were some good and some bad in the performance, but in Week 2, where there were upsets all across the college football landscape, it was nice to see the Tigers walk away with a win.

On offense, DJ Uiagalelei had a good showing as the quarterback completed 21-of-27 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns with a career-high passer efficiency rating of 166.7. He completed 77.8% of his passes.

Here’s a look at some of the best pictures from Clemson’s home win against the Furman Paladins:

Social media reacts to Clemson’s shaky win over Furman

A look at how social media reacted to Clemson’s underwhelming performance against Furman.

Clemson came away with a 35-12 win over Furman in their first home game of the season, and it was not the type of performance Tigers fans were looking for out of their team.

The first half showed some signs of life for the Clemson offense as starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei was producing for his offense. That life faded quickly in the second half as Uiagalelei and the offense scored only seven points.

On the other side of the ball, the Clemson defense was substandard and underwhelming in a way few, if any, would expect. Allowing 356 yards to an FCS opponent is not a good sign for a defense that is supposed to be one of the best in the country.

Swinney and the Tigers need to learn from this game if they have hopes to make the college football playoff.

Clemson wins their home opener against Furman

Clemson was underwhelming but won their home opener against Furman.

Clemson started the game with a strong start but struggled in the second half as the Tigers defeated Furman 35-12 in their first home game of the 2022 season.

Underwhelming is the main takeaway I’m walking away from this game with, as the No.5 Clemson defense did not perform near the standard you’d expect out of them. There were some promising signs in the offense’s first half, but the group stalled as they scored just seven points in the second half.

Starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei looked solid, even if the offense stalled in the second half. He completed 21-27 passes for 231 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. The interception wasn’t his fault, as a dropped pass led to the pick.

The running game was good but not great, as the team averaged 5.3 yards per carry, totaling 147 yards. Will Shipley took ten carries for 68 yards and two touchdowns.

Though 12-points allowed isn’t a lot, the defense’s performance was somewhat concerning. The group did not look the part of a defense that has been riding off some insane hype heading into the season.

The defense allowed Furman to pick up 256 passing yards and 95 rushing yards, for a total of 351 yards. The starting offense and defense played much more minutes than I would have expected.

Clemson’s next game will be a home matchup against LA Tech on September 17th at 8:00 p.m.

Uiagalelei throws second TD of the day for 35-9 lead

Uiagalelei is 17-for-20 for 229 yards and two touchdowns into the third quarter.

After Barrett Carter’s clutch interception early on in the third quarter, quarterback DJ Uiagalelei put together yet another impressive drive for the Tigers, resulting in his second touchdown pass of the day, this time to wide receiver Beaux Collins.

In the first three plays of the drive, running back Will Shipley ran the ball for a combined 41 yards. Just two plays later Uiagalelei connected with Collins for a 9-yard trip to the end zone.

Following his second passing touchdown of the day, Uiagalelei is 17-for-20 for 229 yards so far. The Tigers put together five plays for 52 yards in 2:21 en route to the Uiagalelei-Collins connection in the third quarter.

Social media reacts to the first half of Clemson-Furman

A look at how Twitter reacted to the first have of Clemson’s matchup with Furman.

The first half of Clemson’s first home game of the season is in the books as the Tigers hold a 28-9 lead over Furman heading into halftime.

The Clemson offense led by starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei had a strong showing to open the game as the junior quarterback looked comfortable under center. He was efficient to start, completing 15-18 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown while adding 33-yards on the ground on four carries.

DJ led the Tigers downfield on a nine-play, 75-yard drive with a Kobe Pace one-yard touchdown run to finish the half off. The drive took Uiagalelei and the offense just 87 seconds.

The Tigers’ defense, however, did not fair nearly as well, as the group performed well below expectation in the first half. Allowing 149 passing yards and 65 rushing yards for a total of 214 yards is not suitable for this defense. The group left a lot to be desired heading into the locker room.

Here’s a look at how Twitter reacted to the first half of the Clemson-Furman game:

Shipley’s second touchdown puts the Tigers up 21-3

Will Shipley puts the Tigers up 21-3.

The Clemson offense is clicking as the Tigers just took a three-score lead over Furman in the second quarter.

Starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has continued to perform at a high level so far today, keeping the Tigers’ drive alive, picking up a first down on a 3-yard run on fourth and one on the Furman 31. It was a six-play, 69-yard drive for the Clemson offense that ended with starting running back Will Shipley picking up his second rushing touchdown of the game.

Shipley was patient as the offensive line set up their blocks, leading to a 17-yard touchdown run. The Tigers now lead the Paladins 21-3 in the second quarter.

Briningstool extends Clemson’s lead to 14-3

Clemson now leads 14-3 into the second quarter.

After Will Shipleys one-yard rushing touchdown early in the first quarter, Clemson struck yet again this time thanks to tight end Jake Briningstool who caught a two-yard touchdown pass from DJ Uiagalelei.

Through two drives, Uiagalelei has completed 8-of-9 with 114 yards and one touchdown.

The Tigers now lead 14-3 entering the second quarter of play. Clemson scored its second touchdown of the day in 11 plays, 75 yards and 5:23 minutes.

Uiagalelei starts strong as Clemson leads Furman

Uiagalelei’s strong start sets up a Clemson touchdown.

Clemson scored on their first drive Saturday against Furman in a much needed strong start for the Tigers.

Starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei looked very comfortable under center to start the game, marching the Tigers downfield on a seven-play, 75-yard drive with Will Shipley capping off the drive with a one-yard touchdown run.

The junior quarterback was 3-3 on the drive with 67-yards connecting on a deep ball to wide receiver Beaux Collins for a 40-yard play on his second pass of the game. Moments after, he found wide receiver Joseph Ngata for a 26-yard pitch and catch that set up the Shipley score.

The Tigers lead the Paladins 7-0 with 11:46 left in the first quarter.
