NCAA upholds postseason ban for Mizzou football

The Tigers (5-6, 2-5 SEC) still have a chance to finish with an even .500 record this fall, but the team won’t be playing for a bowl game the day after Thanksgiving after the NCAA Tuesday upheld its postseason ban for the program.

WATCH: Tom Brady says he’s ‘getting extra treatment’ on throwing elbow this week

Tom Brady says that he is receiving “extra treatment” on his right elbow as the Patriots prepare to visit the Texans on Sunday night.

Tom Brady says that he is receiving “extra treatment,” on his right elbow as the Patriots (10-1) prepare to visit the Texans (7-4) Sunday, Dec. 1.

The 42-year-old quarterback was listed as questionable heading into the Week 12 win versus the Cowboys (6-5) and did not complete practice Friday leading into the home game, according to PatriotsWire via NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

On his weekly call with Westwood One radio Monday night, Brady explained his treatment process with personal trainer Alex Guerrero.

“I think sometimes it’s smart to try to get ahead of injuries,” Brady said to host Jim Gray during his 15-minute conversation to start Week 13. “I spent a lot of time with (Guerrero) getting extra treatment and did so after the game (Sunday) night, did so (Monday). I’ll be feeling good this week and be ready to go.”

The 20-year veteran NFL quarterback said that he has “gotten a little bit smarter about how to take care of (him)self,” over the course of his two-decade career and is being precautionary. Brady acknowledged that earlier in his career he would have been more likely to work and play through the injury.

Brady completed a mere 45.9% of his pass attempts Sunday (finishing 17 for 37) as the Pats beat the Cowboys 13-9. The six-time Super Bowl champ threw one touchdown and was sacked twice. The four-time Super Bowl MVP has his lowest season completion percentage since 2013 this year.

WATCH: Jets set unique scoring record with third straight win

The Jets (4-7) are the first team in the Super Bowl era to score 34 points in three straight games, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

A 1-7 start to the season for the Jets included starting three different quarterbacks in three weeks. In Week 12, New York (4-7) set a unique offensive record following its third consecutive win.

The Jets (4-7) are the first team in the Super Bowl era to score 34 points in three straight games, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Quarterback Sam Darnold missed three games (and the team’s bye week) from Week 2 to Week 5 because of mono, but in the three wins in which the Jets offense scores 34 points, Darnold has 838 passing yards and seven touchdowns (one interception). The 22-year-old has completed 58 of 89 pass attempts over the course of those three wins.

The Jets face two of the NFL’s worst teams in succession, playing the Bengals (0-11) in Week 13 then the Dolphins (2-9) in Week 14, so there is a real chance that they keep their win streak going … even if the 34-point streak ends.

WATCH: Richard Sherman sounds off against Jimmy Garoppolo critics

Niners CB Richard Sherman says his QB Jimmy Garoppolo is not getting the praise he deserves.

The 49ers improved to 10-1 Sunday night with a dominant 37-8 win versus the Packers.

San Francisco’s pass defense held Aaron Rogers to a mere 104 yards through the air and is getting due credit for that, but Niners cornerback Richard Sherman says that his quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is not getting the praise he deserves for his role in the season.

“All he does is encourage his teammates and put more work in,” Sherman said Sunday night. “Then you have people nitpicking. We run for 300 yards and they’re like ‘Well, he didn’t throw a lot.’ We ran for 300 yards! Then, he throws for 400 (yards) and they’re like, ‘Well, I think he got outplayed by Kyler Murray,’ and Kyler Murray barely had 100 yards passing.

You start to laugh at these things, but you’re like the goalposts keep moving with him.”

Garoppolo completed 70 percent (14 of 20) of his pass attempts versus the NFC North Division leaders, averaging 12.7 yards per completion and finishing with 253 passing yards. The 28-year-old’s 145.8 QB rating still won’t be good enough for him to garner the respect Sherman feels he deserves though.

“You’ve got to appreciate being good enough that people got to make excuses for why you’re good,” Sherman said. “He’s a good enough quarterback that people have to make excuses. They have to move the bar, they have to (say), ‘Oh, my God. He didn’t throw for 400 (yards) this day.’ Now his passer rating is 145 on primetime against one of the best teams in football and I’m sure they’ll move the goalpost again.”

Sherman went on to predict that critics and analysts would claim San Francisco’s offense didn’t run the ball well enough versus Green Bay and cite Garoppolo not being a scrambler for the shortcoming.

“It’s like .. I mean, what else can the guy do?” Sherman said.
