WATCH: Veteran TE Watson says he played for Patriots with torn Achilles

Ben Watson reveals he tore his Achilles this season but was able to remain on the field.

Ben Watson returned to New England in 2019, reuniting with the team that drafted him in 2004 and with which he played his first six seasons in the NFL.

Friday, Watson revealed that he played the season with a torn Achilles, posting a thank you to TB 12 Body Coach Joseph Koudelka for his work in keeping the now-39-year-old on the field.

“Tore my ‘good,’ Achilles this season, but @jfkoudelka2 kept me on the field! A million thanks @TB12,” Watson wrote over a picture of himself with the trainer posted to his own Instagram story.

The tight end was welcomed back by a team that had a vacancy at the position, then suspended four games for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. The Patriots released Watson following the suspension, then resigned him for the 11 final games of the season.

Watson ended up leading all TEs with 17 receptions for 173 yards despite his abbreviated season, which he has said is potentially his last in the league.

WATCH: LSU visits the White House, President Trump

President Donald Trump welcomed the LSU Tigers to the White House as his honorary guests on Friday.

President Donald Trump welcomed the LSU Tigers to the White House as his honorary guests Friday, recognizing the team for winning the National Championship Monday.

“This LSU team will long be remembered as one of the greatest in college football history,” Trump said. “And I just want to say, congratulations and go Tigers.”

The president also recalled the highlights from the National Championship 42-25 win versus the Clemson Tigers, which he and wife Melania watched in person in New Orleans. Trump likened Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow to “A young Tom Brady,” and praised head coach Ed Orgeron.

The Tigers gifted president Trump an LSU jersey with No. 45 on the back. The president attended two LSU games this season — the national championship and the team’s win against Alabama in Tuscaloosa in November.

VIDEO: Browns interviewing Eagles exec Andrew Berry for GM opening

The latest on the Browns’ search for a new GM.

The Browns are interviewing a former member of the franchise, and have spoken to Eagles Vice President of Football Operations Andrew Berry about their general manager opening.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Cleveland’s team is pursuing its former VP of Player Personnel Friday.

Berry, 32, worked for the Browns in the player personnel role from 2016 until 2018, then he went to Philadelphia for the 2019 season and the expanded executive role.

The Eagles previously denied the Carolina Panthers’ request to interview Berry for their Executive Vice President role (according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport), but he has the opportunity to talk with the team in Carolina following the 2020 NFL Draft (with or without permission from Philly) if he does not end up as General Manager in Cleveland before then.

Berry is a Harvard graduate, starting four years at cornerback for the Crimson. He began his career in the NFL working as a scout for Indianapolis. He worked for the Colts from 2009 until 2015 before going to Cleveland.

WATCH: Packers’ Davante Adams says Week 12 loss to 49ers has ‘zero relevance’

Sunday’s NFC Championship pins the Packers (14-3) against the 49ers (14-3) in a rematch of a game that Green Bay lost 37-8 back in November.

Sunday’s NFC Championship pins the Packers (14-3) against the 49ers (14-3) in a rematch of a game that Green Bay lost 37-8 back in November.

This weekend, though, wide receiver Davante Adams says the green and gold have a much better plan for attacking San Francisco.

“Obviously, if we left the game with eight points (…) obviously the plan was not good enough (…) the execution obviously wasn’t good enough, too,” Adams said according to ESPN. “The plan, so far what I’ve seen, I really like, and I think it’s a better way to attack this defense.”

Adams caught the lone Packers touchdown in that game but was limited to 43 yards on seven receptions. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was limited to a season-low 104 passing yards in that November game and he said earlier this week, “They’re obviously expected to hold court and win,” adding that the pressure on the Niners should keep Green Bay, “nice and loose.”

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan expects this weekend to be as different as Adams is predicting.

“We know it’ll be different,” he said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. “I think that game really holds zero relevance to what’s going to happen this Sunday.”

WATCH: Cardinals QB Kyler Murray ‘would love’ to be two-sport player

Cardinals QB Kyler Murray says he believes he can play in MLB one day.

This isn’t the first time this conversation has happened and it likely won’t be the last, but it is the first time Kyler Murray has talked baseball on the record since finishing his first season in the NFL.

According to the Arizona Republic, the 2019 first overall NFL Draft pick says he could handle playing in the NFL and MLB in the same calendar year.

“I think I could. … Athletically, I think yeah, I could do it,” Murray told Bob McManaman of AZCentral.com. “I’ve been playing both my whole life. I would love to add that to the resume.”

The Oakland A’s drafted Murray in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft. He turned down roughly $5 million from the organization to pursue football, staying in college then tweeting in February 2019 that he was fully committed to becoming an NFL franchise quarterback.

The A’s still own Murray’s rights (the team didn’t get a compensatory pick despite his decision), but it’s unclear if the QB was saying he will try to do both or simply is still interested in and considering the possibility of both.

The Cardinals finished the 2019 season with a 5-10 record. Murray completed 64.4% of his pass attempts for 3,722 yards and 20 touchdowns. He threw 12 interceptions and was sacked 48 times.
