Richard Sherman could reportedly join Skip Bayless as the new Undisputed cohost

Would you watch Undisputed if Richard Sherman joined Skip Bayless as the new cohost?

FOX Sports 1 has reportedly found a new candidate to replace Shannon Sharpe and join Skip Bayless on the popular sports debate program Undisputed.

NFL cornerback Richard Sherman reportedly met with Bayless on Wednesday in Beverly Hills to discuss the possibility of Sherman joining Bayless on the sports program, The New York Post‘s Andrew Marchand wrote on Thursday.

Sharpe left earlier this year after holding the co-chair on the sports show, and Marchand noted in his report that Sherman and Bayless do have shared history on-air in an infamous First Take segment.

Bayless and Sherman have a history together, dating back more than a decade ago on ESPN’s First Take. Sherman, then a player and a guest on the program, told Bayless to “address me as All-Pro Stanford graduate.”

Sherman added that Bayless “had never accomplished anything.” Bayless shot back that he had “accomplished more in [media]” than Sherman had in football. Sherman returned fire that he was named All-Pro, meaning he was one of the best 22 at what he does, and didn’t believe Bayless was in the first 22 at anything.

Sherman recently appeared on Amazon’s Thursday Night Football coverage.

Other candidates could emerge, and Sherman hasn’t necessarily been deemed a finalist. However, coupling Sherman with Bayless could give FOX Sports 1 the combination it needs to keep viewers engaged with the program.

We’ll see if any other names emerge in the days to come. Former NFL running back LeSean McCoy’s name has also popped up as a possibility.

The program will return in late August.

LeBron James showed love to Shannon Sharpe after the Lakers game and everyone had jokes about Skip Bayless

Skip Bayless is somewhere SEETHING right now, y’all.

It’s been a pretty wild week for Shannon Sharpe. The Damar Hamlin situation started things after the Bills’ DB collapsed on the field.

As a former football player himself, Shannon Sharpe obviously felt for Hamlin — especially so considering that his brother, Sterling, was paralyzed on the field himself once. The situation hit close to home.

So when his Undisputed co-host, Skip Bayless, tweeted a ridiculous tweet about the situation, Sharpe seemed to be ticked off. So much so that he didn’t show up to work the very next day. Viewers speculated it was because he was upset with Bayless’ tweet that he eventually asked him to take down live on air. Bayless refused while interrupting a heartfelt monologue from Sharpe on Hamlin while live on the air.

So, yeah. Sharpe deserves to have a good moment this week. And he had a pretty cool one at the Lakers game. LeBron James came over to show the FS1 host love after the Lakers beat the Hawks on Friday.

Sharpe and James are friends, certainly. But Sharpe is also a huge fan of James, too. Bayless hates it. It’s safe to say he’s not a fan.

So when Sharpe got this love from James after the game, the entire internet made Skip Bayless jokes. They were hilarious — especially considering the events that happened earlier in the week.

The Bayless-Sharpe beef lives on.

How to watch, listen, stream No. 8 Oregon at California

How to Watch: No. 8 Oregon goes down to the Bay Area to face an upset-minded California team.

The Oregon Ducks football team is ranked as high as its been this season at No. 8 in both the USA TODAY Coaches poll and the Associated Press poll.

With their 6-1 record and perfect 4-0 conference mark on the line, the Ducks will travel down to Berkeley to face a team that good look good at times and then lose to Colorado.

Coach Justin Wilcox’s California Golden Bears squad is 3-4 overall and just 1-3 in Pac-12 play. This might be the most interesting game in the Pac-12 in a week that doesn’t feature outstanding matchups. The Bears have the capability of pulling off the upset, especially on their home turf. But it’s difficult to see Oregon losing this one considering how much of a roll it’s on.

Luckily, the game was given that 12:30 p.m. television window.

Bronny James game vs. Emoni Bates to air Nov. 21 on Fox Sports 1

The showdown between Ypsi Prep and CBC will air on Fox Sports 1 on November 21.

For a while, it was looking like the showdown between Emoni Bates’ Ypsi Prep and Bronny James CBC on Nov. 21 would be the biggest basketball news when it happens but even as it will now be happening in the midst of what projects to be a chaotic NBA free agency, the game is going to be broadcast to a national audience.

Adam Zagoria, writing for ZagsBlog, reported earlier this week that the Bates-Bronny showdown in Texas scheduled for a few days from now will air on Fox Sports 1. Bronny’s teammate Amari Bailey is the No. 4 ranked recruit in the class of 2022.

The game is part of a tournament that is sponsored, in part, by Lakers guard Danny Green. It remains to be seen whether LeBron himself will go to the game, or how many people will be allowed to watch the game, given the current state of the pandemic.

NBA free agency starts on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. Eastern Time.

Shannon Sharpe reflects on phone call with Drew Brees

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees reached out to FS1’s Shannon Sharpe after drawing criticism for speaking out against peaceful protests.

[jwplayer vYKNT1P3-ThvAeFxT]

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees went through a whirlwind of attention last week after speaking out against peaceful protests during the national anthem before NFL games, with retired Super Bowl champion and Fox Sports 1 host Shannon Sharpe among the loudest voices condemning Brees before he issued a public apology and backtracked on his stance.

Sharpe was an outspoken critic of Brees’ first remarks, using his platform on Fox Sports 1 to lambaste Brees for missing the point of protests during the national anthem while also, in a hotter take, calling for his retirement.

It left an impression on Brees, who reached out days later to speak with Sharpe over a phone call. The pair were able to talk things out in a lengthy conversation, which Sharpe described in another television spot.

“I said ‘Drew, for one second we didn’t want you to be Drew Brees, we wanted you to be one of us. We wanted you to ask yourself what if that was your brother [killed in police custody], your uncle, your father,'” Sharpe said during a Monday appearance on FS1. “What hurt the most is that it came from you. No white quarterback in the history of the NFL has had black support like you.”

Sharpe elaborated on his criticism of Brees’ initial stance, which you can find where we’ve embedded it below or by following this link. But the Saints’ face of the franchise changed his perspective after days of dialogue with his teammates, and has remained steadfast even when called out by President Donald Trump.

It’s been one of the more surprising storylines of the 2020 Saints offseason, but the capacity for growth Brees has shown — and the support his actions have earned from the rest of the locker room — speak volumes. These galvanizing moments could pay off when the Saints run into more adversity once the season starts.

Jalen Reagor set to prove Skip Bayless wrong after he mocks the Eagles first-round pick

Skip Bayless makes a mockery of the Eagles selection of Jalen Reagor

Skip Bayless normally saves his venom for LeBron James but with the NBA season on hiatus, the Fox Sports 1 star set his sights on the Eagles.

While discussing the NFL Draft, Bayless openly mocked the Eagles selection of Reagor at No. 21, choosing to highlight the wide receivers that the Philadelphia passed over.

Taking the slight personally as he should, Reagor let it be known that he wouldn’t forget Bayless’s words and made it known that he prove his biggest doubters wrong.

Bayless may have felt some type of way about Shannon Sharpe picking the Eagles to repeat as NFC East champs.

Bayless makes a living trolling and choosing his targets wisely and with the NFC East see to come down to the Eagles vs. Cowboys, Reagor will be a topic of discussion the entire season on FS1.

Marcos Hernandez plans to use James Kirkland as springboard

Marcos Hernandez believes a victory over James Kirkland on Saturday will catapult him toward a shot at a title.

Marcos Hernandez knows a good opportunity when he sees one.

“Madman” has lost two of his last three fights – a ninth-round TKO against Jeison Rosario and unanimous decision against Kevin Newman II – but he believes he has what takes to be a contender. He’ll have a chance to demonstrate that when he faces James Kirkland in a 10-round middleweight bout Saturday in Oxon Hill, Maryland on Fox Sports 1.

“I’ve had a great camp and for the first time in my career I’ve added a strength and conditioning coach,” Hernandez said. “I’m constantly in the gym with [trainer] Henry Ramirez working hard every single day. I was super focused going into this camp, since I know this is a major opportunity to get me back in line for a world title shot. I know I have to take this seriously.

“Some people may have doubted me based on past fights, but that is only fueling my motivation. I miss my family a lot, but I know to be great, I have to do what it takes to go to the next level.”

Hernandez (14-3-1, 3 KOs) has faced mostly second-tier opposition but does have two fights against Rosario, who stopped Julian Williams to win a junior middleweight title in January.

The first meeting, a six-round middleweight fight, ended in a split draw. That might provide a hint of what the product of Fresno, California is capable of.

Hernandez, also known as Mark Anthony Hernandez, respects the punching power of the 35-year-old Kirkland (34-2, 30 KOs) but he believes he’s the more complete fighter.

“James Kirkland is a notorious fighter known for his power, but his time has come and gone,” Hernandez said. “This is a great opportunity for me since Kirkland is a popular fighter. And when I beat him, people will take notice.

“I watched Kirkland growing up and I have studied his mistakes. Kirkland only has one style, but I have many. This will be a great fight for the fans because both of us have our backs against the wall and must win.”

And if Hernandez wins?

“When I win, I want to get back in there with unified champion Jeison Rosario,” said Hernandez. “I have fought Rosario twice already, and the first time was a draw. I have unfinished business with him. I need to make a big statement and have a highlight-reel performance this Saturday night.

“I believe I can fight him this year. The fight would be a trilogy, and who doesn’t like trilogies in boxing?”
