Two schools are standing out to four-star WR Jalen Hale

Alabama and Texas are the current favorites for the Longview product.

Four-star wide receiver Jalen Hale is one of Texas’ top remaining targets in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

247Sports composite rankings list Hale as the No. 11 wide receiver in the country and the No. 11 overall prospect in the state of Texas. He has picked up 35 offers and named a top three of Alabama, Georgia and Texas back on July 8.

Chad Simmions of On3 Sports’ reports the recruitment of Hale is a “two-team race.” Alabama and Texas are the current favorites for the Longview product.

Hale is set to make the trip to Austin on Sept. 10 for the highly anticipated matchup between the Crimson Tide and Longhorns. He will also check out Alabama on an official visit before his Sept. 21 commitment date.

Texas has done a great job recruiting the wide receiver position in the 2023 cycle. The Longhorns have five-star Johntay Cook and four-stars Ryan Niblett and Jonah Wilson committed to the program. Adding Hale to the fold would make up one of the most talented wide receiver classes in Texas history.

Johntay Cook displayed his skill set against some of the nation’s best.

Some of the top prospects in the class of 2023 got together to compete at the Under Armour Future 50 Camp this weekend.

Texas wide receiver commit Johntay Cook displayed his skill set against some of the nation’s best of the 2023 cycle. He showed off his top-end speed and silky smooth route running ability to create separation during the 1v1 portions.

The 6-foot-0, 175-pound speedster hauled in 38 catches for 806 yards and 19 scores in his junior season at DeSoto High School. He is a dynamic playmaker who fits Steve Sarkisian’s offensive scheme to a tee.

Cook is also doing his part on the recruiting trail. He is one of Texas’ most vocal players in trying to get more big-name prospects to commit to the Longhorns. Cook and Arch Manning are quickly becoming the leaders of Texas’ 2023 class.

A decision looming for elite 2023 WR Jaquaize Pettaway

One of the nation’s top wide receiver prospects is set to make his college decision next week.

One of the nation’s top wide receiver prospects is set to make his college decision next week.

Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports reports Jaquaize Pettaway will announce between Texas and Oklahoma early next week. He ranks as the No. 8 player in the state of Texas and a top 50 prospect in the nation according to 247Sports composite.

Pettaway has torched Texas high school secondaries during his sophomore and junior seasons at Langham Creek. He has racked up 105 receptions for nearly 1,800 yards and 16 touchdowns over his career thus far. His acceleration and ball skills make him a perfect fit for Steve Sarkisian’s offense.

The speedy wideout is fresh off of June visits to both Texas and Oklahoma.

Texas has all the momentum in the world on the recruiting front and hopes to continue it with a commitment of Pettaway next week.

Texas WR target Rico Flores Jr sets commitment date

Texas remains squarely in the mix for one of the top prospects in California.

Four-star wide receiver Rico Flores Jr. will announce his commitment on July 3. Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas and UCLA are all under consideration for the skilled pass catcher.

Flores is coming off an impressive junior season where he hauled in 81 passes for nearly 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns. He served as the kickoff returner where he averaged 31 yards per return and brought one kick to the house.

247Sports rates Flores as the No. 13 overall prospect in the state of California and the No. 23 wide receiver in the nation for the 2023 cycle.

Texas is in a position to recruit heavily at the wide receiver position after taking just one prospect in the 2022 class. Flores would be a huge piece to the puzzle for Texas 2023 class and a major recruiting win for Brennan Marion.

Texas Football Recruiting: 2023 four-star WR DeAndre Moore puts Texas in top schools

Four-star WR DeAndre Moore announced his top 12 schools on Monday, with Texas making the list. He ranks as the No. 1 WR in the ’23 class.

April 2021 is way too early to put any stock into a 2022 prospect, let alone a 2023 recruit. However, Texas is beginning to make early strides within the class. Four-star running back Rueben Owens committed in February, while Texas has picked up its pursuit in five-star quarterback Arch Manning.

Steve Sarkisian is going to love recruiting out west due to previous ties during his time at Washington and USC. Las Vegas is one of the biggest hotspots in the Pacific Time Zone and Texas has made the cut for one of their top 2023 prospects.

Four-star wide receiver DeAndre Moore announced his top 12 schools on Monday and the Longhorns made the list. Arizona State and USC are the only two Pac-12 programs remaining, with national programs and Texas A&M still in contention.

In 247Sports’ latest rankings update, Moore is the No. 1 player in the state of Nevada and the No. 3 wide receiver.
