Derion Gullette is as versatile as any prospect in the nation.

Four-star linebacker Derion Gullette is as versatile as any prospect in the nation.

247Sports rates Gullette as the No. 38 player in Texas and a top 300 player in the class of 2023.

Gullette provided an update on his recruitment as he dropped his top 12 schools on Friday. Texas made the cut along with Ohio State, Notre Dame, Auburn, Oregon, USC, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama, LSU, North Carolina and Miami.

The Marlin product put up monster numbers on both sides of the ball during his junior season.  He racked up over 1500 total yards and 18 touchdowns on offense along with making 125 tackles and forcing four turnovers as a linebacker. Gullette even served as his team’s punter in 2021. He took home district MVP for his efforts.

Linebacker is a major position of need for the Longhorns. Adding Gullette to the fold would do wonders for the 2023 class.

Oklahoma Sooners continue Hawaii connection with offer to 2023 4-star linebacker Liona Lefau

Oklahoma Sooners offer 2023 four-star linebacker Liona Lefau out of Hawaii.

The Oklahoma Sooners have opened new recruiting grounds in the great state of Hawaii. After landing Dillon Gabriel through the transfer portal, they added defensive tackle Jonah Laulu, who played for Hawaii in 2021.

Now they’re opening the pipeline in earnest with their latest offer to four-star linebacker Liona Lefau in the 2023 class.

Lefau is the No. 19 linebacker in the country according to the 247Sports composite database and the No. 2 player in the state of Hawaii. On3 Sports consensus rankings have him as the No. 24 linebacker in the 2023 class and No. 3 in Hawaii.

The star linebacker from Kahuku, Hawaii, holds offers from several Power Five schools, including Michigan, Utah, USC and Wisconsin. It’s early in his recruitment, but this appears to be a hot and heavy battle for the athletic linebacker.

Though the Sooners look deep at linebacker from the 2022 class, adding a player of Lefau’s ability would help. With Gabriel and Laulu in place, the Sooners could get a boost with the Hawaiian connection.

Four-star linebacker Kip Lewis takes self-guided tour at Texas

Kip Lewis took a self-guided tour on Saturday. Since the NCAA has not allowed official visits, recruits must visit campuses on their own.

One of the fastest rising linebackers in the state of Texas is four-star prospect Kip Lewis. Programs such as LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and USC have offered the Carthage prospect since the New Year. He’s listed as an outside linebacker on 247Sports and could also project as an inside linebacker.

After Lewis’s 2020 season, it’s easy to see why the top schools in the country want him. He finished with 140 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, four sacks, two fumble recoveries, one pass breakup, a forced fumble, and an interception. Wherever the ball was, Lewis showed up shortly after.

Lewis took a self-guided tour in Austin on Saturday. Since the NCAA is still not allowing official visits, players must choose to visit campuses on their own. According to Justin Wells of Inside Texas, he will head to College Station next.

Lewis recently tweeted out how his recruitment was open and he was considering all options. You can see his full statement below:

Blessed to receive my first colliegete offer after the State game (Dec. 2020) my life has been a lot a series of conversations every since. I’m deeply grateful for it all. It’s a great feeling to be able to have the opportunity to attend college and play one of my greatest loves (football). Currently, I do not have a top 5 or a top 10 at this time. We are open to consider all options. Due to covid I haven’t been able to visit any college campus in person. @MakhaiLewis4 We would like the opportunity to see the campus and meet the staff in person before narrowing our options. Thank you, Kip Lewis

On the 247Sports composite, Lewis is the No. 46 player in the state of Texas. Nationally, he ranks as No. 340 in the country and the No. 25 outside linebacker. With another monster season, he will certainly once again rise in the rankings.
