Flyers at Red Wings: Projected starting goalies
Brian Elliott vs. Jonathan Bernier
Elliott is coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins Friday. He didn’t suffer a regulation loss in five January starts and is now 12-5-4 on the season through 21 starts and four relief appearances. He has a .901 save percentage and 2.94 goals against average.
Bernier returned to the net Saturday for his first start since Jan. 10, and took the loss against the New York Rangers despite stopping 30 of 31 shots on goal. He is 10-13-2 on the season with a .907 SV% and 2.92 GAA.

Prediction
Flyers 3, Red Wings 1
Moneyline (ML)
The FLYERS (-222) are a safe enough play Monday I’m willing to swallow the fair amount of chalk involved with the moneyline odds. Philly is 6-2-2 across its last 10 games, but just 10-13-3 on the road for the season. It’s coming off a 6-3 home win over the Colorado Avalanche after splitting a home-and-home with the rival Pittsburgh Penguins on both ends of the all-star break.
The Red Wings (+180) remain huge underdogs, even on home ice. While the return of Bernier helps stem some of the problems on the defensive end, LW Filip Zadina (lower body) joined the long list of injured forwards after Saturday’s game. The Wings are riding an eight-game losing skid and are just 8-17-2 on home ice.
Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)
When betting against the Red Wings, it has been best to skip on the moneyline in favor of higher odds on the spread. Back the FLYERS (-1.5, +125) to win by at least 2 goals Monday with the advantage in every area of the ice. The Flyers are 30-22 ATS overall and 12-14 on the road, while the Wings are 21-32 ATS overall and 11-16 at home.
Philly claimed a 6-1 victory over Detroit Nov. 29 in the season’s only head-to-head meeting thus far.
Over/Under (O/U)
Take the UNDER 5.5 (+115). The Flyers are 5-5 against the Over/Under across their last 10 games, while the Wings are 4-5-1 against the projected goal totals. Detroit has scored more than two goals just once in its last eight games.
