First look: Florida State at Notre Dame odds and lines

Looking at Saturday’s Florida State at Notre Dame college football odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-1) welcome the Florida State Seminoles (1-8) to Notre Dame Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (NBC). Below, we look at Florida State vs. Notre Dame odds from BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds before making our expert college football picks and predictions later in the week.

Notre Dame is coming off a bye. The Fighting Irish’s most impressive victory this season is a 23-13 win as 3-point road underdogs in their season opener at current-No. 16 Texas A&M Aug. 31 — the Aggies were ranked 20th at the time. The Irish then stumbled, losing to unranked Northern Illinois 16-14 as 28-point home favorites Sept. 7, but they have worked their way back up the rankings behind a 6-game win streak. Their most recent game was a 51-14 throttling of Navy Oct. 26, covering as 14-point road favorites. QB Riley Leonard has thrown for 1,360 yards with 8 touchdowns and ran for 539 yards with 11 TDs, while RB Jeremyah Love has run for 564 yards with 9 scores.

After starting the season ranked, Florida State has disappointed. FSU is coming off a 35-11 defeat as a 2.5-point home underdog vs. the UNC Tar Heels last Saturday — the Under (50.5) hit. The Seminoles have lost 5 in a row and have covered in just 2 of those. They have traded off covering and not over their last 7 games. Florida State’s offense has been problematic. It hasn’t scored more than 16 points since dropping 21 on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a 24-21 opening-season loss.

After Florida State defeated LSU 45-21 in Week 1, thoughts were rampant the Seminoles were going to roll to the playoffs. After a tricky game Saturday, a 31-29 thriller against Boston College, these thoughts have tempered a bit. But this could just be the wakeup call Mike Norvell and Florida State needed heading into its biggest matchup of the year against Clemson.

For Clemson, a 28-7 Week 1 embarrassment to Duke has left them reeling. But it was also the wakeup call it needed as it has rallied for 2 straight wins, including defeating Florida Atlantic 48-14 Saturday.

This will be the game of the year in the ACC and the winner will have the inside track at being the top seed heading into the ACC Championship game.

First look: Clemson at Florida State odds and lines

Looking at Saturday’s Clemson at Florida State college football odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

The Clemson Tigers (6-0, 4-0 ACC) travel to Tallahassee to take on the conference rival Florida State Seminoles (4-2, 2-2) Saturday. Kickoff from Doak Campbell Stadium is at 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Below, we look at Clemson vs. Florida State odds from Tipico Sportsbook; check back for all our college football picks and predictions.

Despite that the Seminoles are banged up, QB Jordan Travis is still there and they’re playing far better than many expected this season. Coach Mike Norvell has used the transfer portal to a massive extent in the past 2 seasons and the returns are finally paying off.

Another thing that is paying off is the play of Clemson QB DJ Uiagalelei. Coach Dabo Swinney believed in DJU when no one else wanted to and he is finally being rewarded for this belief over the last month.

The start of this stellar play began in Clemson’s 51-45 double-overtime victory against Wake Forest Sept. 24. Uiagalelei threw for 371 yards and 5 TDs on 26-of-41 passing in that one and he’s kept it going with 429 yards and 4 TDs over 2 games against NC State and at Boston College. DJU will need to keep up the stats if Clemson wants to beat Florida State.

Clemson is No. 5 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Clemson vs. Florida State head-to-head

Clemson has owned this matchup of late.

Not only has it won the last 5 meetings, but only 1 of these games has finished within 10 points. While this coincides with the leap Clemson has taken, it also shows the darkness which has befallen Florida State in recent seasons.

Clemson is 4-1 ATS across that 5 meeting span but is 4-0 ATS over the last 4 matchups. The Over is 3-1-1 across that span.
