Did Justin Fields take a shot at former Ohio State QB Tate Martell?

Justin Fields may have taken his chance to throw shade at former Ohio State QB Tate Martell on Twitter. Did he mean to? Decide for yourself.

The Ohio State football team got one whale of a quarterback transfer at the beginning of the 2019 season, Justin Fields left the University of Georgia, the prestige program in his home state of Georgia.

However, there was controversy around if Fields would be able to come in and instantly be the team’s starting quarterback, taking over from Dwayne Haskins, a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

A top-10 all-time prospect, Fields’ transfer was a huge deal for the Buckeyes. But, Ohio State already had cemented itself as a quarterback powerhouse far before Fields’ commitment.

It was supposed to be Tate Martell who took over from Haskins, or at the very least was projected to. Martell threw for 269 yards and one touchdown during the 2018 season, but when the pendulum swang towards Fields, Martell dipped.

He transferred to the University of Miami, and he may still have some bitterness after missing out on the shot of a lifetime.

Did the former Ohio State quarterback look to get at the program’s current one on Twitter telling him to not “swing and miss”?

Well, if it was aimed at Fields, the young stud wasn’t backing down.

Let’s be honest though — Fields may just be talking about his golf game.

To be fair though, you’d imagine a player with a swing like that doesn’t actually swing and miss often, showing how the caption could’ve been aimed at Martell.

Either way, Fields is primed for another huge season as the Big Ten’s best quarterback. Meanwhile the jury is still out on Martell down in Miami.

Ohio State remains No. 2 in ESPN’s Way-Too-Early top 25

The Ohio State Buckeyes are destined to be one of the NCAA’s best teams in 2020, but they are behind one other team according to ESPN.

The Ohio State football team is destined to be one of the college football’s best teams in 2020, but according to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, they likely won’t start as the best.

That spot is currently being held by the Clemson Tigers, Schlabach laid out in his way-too-early top 25. However, the Buckeyes, who will have the Big Ten’s most talented inbound recruiting class, come in at No. 2, the same spot they were at when the list was first released after all the bowl games.

Here’s an excerpt of what the senior writer said on the Buckeyes heading into 2020.

“The Buckeyes’ first season under coach Ryan Day couldn’t have gone much better, except for the heartbreaking 29-23 loss to Clemson in a CFP semifinal at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. With quarterback Justin Fields returning for his second season as a starter, along with five other starters on offense, Day’s second season might be just as fruitful.”

Ohio State had a nearly flawless season in 2019. Day flew through the Big Ten and even overcame adversity in the Big Ten Championship Game as well.

A stinging loss to Clemson in the College Football Semifinals will haunt the program for years to come, but it was still a fantastic season no matter how you slice it.

That was the lone blemish on and otherwise stellar season.

With new players like Julian Fleming, Paris Johnson Jr. and high levels of talent returning, the Buckeyes should come out just as strong in 2020 despite losing Chase Young, J.K. Dobbins, and Jeff Okudah.

The program is clearly in fine shape under Ryan Day.

Ohio State’s Justin Fields wins Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year

Ohio State University’s sophomore quarterback Justin Fields has won the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Year.

Ohio State University’s sophomore quarterback Justin Fields has won the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Year.

The former five-star quarterback started his collegiate career in Georgia and quickly transferred to Ohio State.

Under Ryan Day, Fields has found unparalleled success and has grown into one college football’s best dual-threat quarterbacks. Fields is a projected Heisman finalist as well.

Leading the Buckeyes to a perfect 12-0, Fields neared 2,700 yards through the air with 37 pass touchdowns with a mere one interception. On the ground, he added 470 yards and ten more touchdowns.

For his terrific performances, Fields has been named the Griese-Brees Quarterback of the Year. Like teammate Chase Young, he didn’t just the positional award but was also named the Graham-George Offensive Player of the Year.

The second-year stud knows this ride isn’t over. He’s prepared to play in the team’s conference championship, a rematch against Wisconsin on Saturday.

From there, the Buckeyes will hopefully take their talent down south and compete in the College Football Playoffs. If they go far in those playoffs, it’ll be on the back of star quarterback Justin Fields.

WATCH: All 41 touchdowns from superstar Ohio State QB Justin Fields

The Ohio State football team has raced out to a dominant 10-0 start behind the excellence play of Justin Fields. Watch all his TDs here.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been nothing short of impressive this season. They’re the No. 2 ranked team in the nation and are in a perfect position to win out.

They’ve been absolutely dominant against every opponent because of their disruptive defense and potent offense. That offense has been led by quarterback Justin Fields, who transferred to Ohio State after a season in Georgia.

A Heisman candidate, Fields, through his first ten games for Ohio State, has 41 touchdowns — 10 on the ground and 31 through the air.

With over 2,100 yards passing and another 370-plus on the ground, Fields could go down as the Buckeyes best dual-threat quarterback in the program’s illustrious history.

With that in mind ahead of the Penn State game, we’re feeling a little sentimental. In case you missed any of those scores, or just want to re-live them all, let’s take a look at all 41 touchdowns by Fields courtesy of a video shared on Twitter by The Buckeye Nut.

The Buckeyes need Fields to continue this type of dominance as their next three outings may be the team’s most challenging yet. They’ll be taking on Penn State, Michigan and then either a likely Wisconsin or Minnesota in the B1G Ten Championship Game.

From what we’ve seen of Fields, don’t expect him to slow down against a tough defense. After all, he did put three touchdowns on Wisconsin who had the best defense in the nation at the time.
