Five players the Browns should look at from the FCF

The Fan Controlled Football league is interesting. As the Browns leave no stone unturned, here @joshkeatley16 has five players from the #FCF they should look at:

Fan Controlled Football is like the Arena Football League on steroids and the indoor football league has a few stars like Johnny Manziel, Terrell Owens and Terrence Williams, but they have yet to have someone make a name in the NFL after making an impact in the FCF. The league has now completed its second season and my money is on a few of these players earning NFL checks.

The front office in Cleveland does a great job of turning over every stone for possible play-makers and they churn the bottom of their roster more often and effectively than most NFL teams. A few of these prospects would be worth a deeper look.

A former Clemson football player took home Most Valuable Player honors after impressing with his performance in a championship game on Saturday night.

Former Tiger quarterback Kelly Bryant was named Finals MVP of the People’s Championship in the Fan Controlled Football league after leading the Zappers to a 42-24 win over the Bored Ape FC.

Bryant completed 11 of 13 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown with one interception while rushing for 58 yards and three more scores on the ground.

That effort propelled the Zappers to the championship following an 0-4 start to the season.

“Really just getting over the hump, just getting that first win, that was the biggest thing for us,” Bryant said, via LX.com’s Mike Gavin. “Once we got that, we got on a run. We knew we had the right guys on the offensive side, we had a chance to be really explosive. We put together a great week and you see what happens when a team puts all that together.”

Bryant played for the Tigers from 2015-18 and graduated from Clemson before transferring to Missouri during the 2018 season to finish out his college career.

He started for Clemson in 2017 and led the team to an undefeated regular season, ACC Championship and appearance in the College Football Playoff.

You can see some of Bryant’s highlights from the FCF People’s Championship below:

Former Clemson QB having success in 7-on-7 league

One of Clemson’s recent starting quarterbacks is finding success in a new league, leading his team in passing and total touchdowns.

Former Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant never made it to the NFL, but that hasn’t stopped the 25-year-old from continuing his football career.

After four years with Clemson and one year with Missouri, Bryant has joined the seven-on-seven Fan Controlled Football league (FCF), which began in 2021 and allows fans to call the plays.

In his first season with the Zappers, Bryant has completed 55.6% of his passes and leads the team with 234 yards, and is also second on the team in rushing with 146 yards.

In the Zappers’ recent victory over the SB Stars on June 4, Bryant had 123 total yards and three touchdowns, one of which he scored on this five-yard rushing touchdown that gave his team a 14-0 lead.

In his one full season as Clemson’s starter in 2017, Bryant completed 65.8% of his passes for 2,802 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also added 665 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. After Trevor Lawrence took over as the Tigers’ starting signal-caller, Bryant eventually transferred to Missouri, where he threw for over 2,000 yards and 15 touchdowns in 10 games.

Now in the FCF, Bryant and other former college football stars, such as 2012 Heisman winner Johnny Manziel, have another platform to showcase their skills on the football field.

A former Clemson wide receiver was cut by a professional team this week now that he is playing in a new league.

The Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League announced Tuesday they have released Martavis Bryant. Bryant’s release came just a few days after he joined the Beasts, a team in the Fan Controlled Football league.

Bryant never saw any game action with the Elks after signing with the team in February. The former Tiger and NFL wideout’s rights were owned by the Toronto Argonauts in 2021, when he spent the season on the club’s suspended list after not reporting to training camp.

Bryant most recently played in the NFL in 2018 with the then-Oakland Raiders and was suspended indefinitely by the league that season after repeated violations of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Originally a fourth-round pick (118th overall) in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bryant tallied 145 catches for 2,183 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns while playing for the Steelers and the Raiders from 2014-18.

The Calhoun Falls, S.C. native played at Clemson from 2011-13, recording 61 receptions for 1,354 yards and 13 touchdowns along with a 17-yard carry and 291 yards on 14 kickoff returns over 37 games (13 starts) in his career. As a junior in 2013, he had 42 receptions for 828 yards and seven touchdowns along with two kickoff returns for 36 yards over 13 games (11 starts).

WATCH: Tyreek Hill gets a pick-six against Jameis Winston in charity flag football game

Can he play both ways this year?

Despite the Miami Dolphins holding workouts in recent days, wide receiver Tyreek Hill still found the time to get some work on the other side of the ball.

This past weekend, hip-hop artist Quavo threw a charity flag football game called “Huncho Day” that was hosted by the Fan Controlled Football league. The FCF has been gaining popularity due to its methods of fan engagement and the performance of former NFL receiver Terrell Owens.

Hill joined other NFL superstars and celebrities on Saturday, as they showed off their skills.

Probably the most entertaining point of the event was Hill intercepting New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston and turning on the jets, as he scored on the side but not before he gave a peace sign to the guy trying to run him down.

Do you hear that? That’s the sound of Mike McDaniel’s phone ringing. It’s Josh Boyer, and he’s asking for Hill to play defense.

Johnny Manziel will continue his football career in the Fan Controlled Football league

He’s back.

Johnny Manziel’s football career will continue, though not in quite the same way we’ve seen in the past.

Manziel will make the fourth stop in his pro football career with the Fan Controlled Football, according to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.

FCF — a start-up football league — combines the sport with elements of esports. It’ll be quite different from the conventional football games he’s played in. The league features 7-on-7 games where fans do everything from setting the roster and lineups to calling actual plays. The league begins in February and games will be streamed on Twitch.

Manziel said he wasn’t trying to return to football anytime soon, but was convinced by the league’s founders to join.

“Life gives you opportunities sometimes to do something that you would still like to do if it was in a different capacity. This has a lot of potential to just be a good time and still be football-centric. They’re going to let the people [who] join this league be who they are and have fun with it and be a little bit more free than what football is sometimes. That’s definitely what appealed to me. They don’t want me to change who I am or anything else. They want to come out, put a good product out and be fun with it.”

This is the fourth stop in his pro football career. Here’s a quick look back at the first three.
