The FDU men’s basketball team got stuck in a pesky elevator and fans dropped so many top-tier jokes

To be honest, these are some top-floor jokes. (Sorry. We’ll show ourselves out.)

The Fairleigh Dickinson men’s basketball team had a wild Thursday evening. The team was scheduled to play Long Island University, but the game did not start on time because nearly the entire team was stuck in an elevator.

Various things can delay games, including technical issues, animals and even power outages. But what happens when nearly an entire team doesn’t show up for a matchup because they’re stuck in an elevator? (Remember Virginia Tech?)

Thursday evening, the Fairleigh Dickinson men’s basketball team traveled to Brooklyn, New York, to play at Long Island University. The local fire department had to be called in to rescue multiple players mysteriously stuck in an elevator.

Thankfully, the team was rescued after about 15 minutes and eventually won the game.

However, that did not stop the Fairleigh Dickinson social media team and the internet from cracking jokes about the situation.

FAU’s Johnell Davis accidentally swore on TV after his epic NCAA tournament win and the broadcast was so chill about it

“We’re on truTV, man.”

After taking down No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson and making men’s NCAA tournament history, No. 9 Florida Atlantic University sophomore guard Johnell Davis accidentally dropped a curse word in his postgame interview.

While talking with reporter Jamie Erdahl, Davis spoke to what he’s been trying to prove in his career and accidentally said the “s-word” while giving his answer.

“It happens to all of us; we’re on truTV, man,” Erdahl said to ease Davis’ concern after he dropped a PG-13 swear on national television.

Hey, we’ve all said this word at some point in our life, so nobody hate on Davis for giving an honest answer in a very routine setting.

Davis earned the right to say what was on his mind after he set a men’s NCAA tournament record with 25-plus points, 10-plus recounds, five-plus assists and five-plus steals in a tournament game.

Florida Atlantic has emerged as one of the coolest stories of the tournament, and now they’ve got a Sweet 16 berth to add to the list.

Fairleigh Dickinson busted all of the remaining 2023 NCAA men’s tournament brackets

Fairleigh Dickinson: the ultimate bracket buster.

No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson didn’t just take down No. 1 Purdue in historic fashion on Friday night.

It also busted all of the remaining brackets for the 2023 NCAA men’s tournament.

The gigantic upset victory for Fairleigh Dickinson erased any possibility that anyone who filled out a bracket this year would remain perfect, as not many would’ve expected Purdue to bow out of the tournament so quickly.

However, the Cinderella story of Cinderella stories had other plans, as the brackets fell to the wayside as the Knights pulled off the unbelievable win.

If you were depending on Purdue to win to keep your bracket alive, Fairleigh Dickinson says sorry not sorry.

Hey, a busted bracket isn’t the end of the world, and there’s always next year.

It’s incredibly rare to stay perfect for this long in the NCAA men’s tournament, and Fairleigh Dickinson’s amazing victory will surely heal any pain a busted bracket can cause.

The Purdue whiteboard sure looks like someone punched a giant hole through it

Purdue learned the true meaning of the word upset.

While everyone loves the thrill of victory, nothing quite stings like the agony of defeat. Purdue learned this lesson the hard way during March Madness.

As a No. 1 seed who lost to the No. 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round of the NCAA tournament in the East Region, the Boilermakers learned the true meaning of the word upset on Friday evening.

After the game, as FDU celebrated their historic victory, it certainly seems as if someone was very angry in the Purdue locker room and may have it out on an innocent whiteboard.

WISH TV’s Angela Moryan has photos of the aftermath:

As a No. 1 seed like Purdue was, it would obviously be frustrating for anyone on the team or the staff to lose to a No. 16 seed like FDU.

But the damage done to the whiteboard looks like it took more than just a single move. This probably needed several moments of real impact before eventually looking like that.

Purdue has now lost to a No. 16 seed, a No. 15 seed and a No. 13 seed in the past three NCAA tournaments. That is… not great!

Fairleigh Dickinson hero Sean Moore made NCAA tourney history in his hometown

Who is Sean Moore, the Fairleigh Dickinson hero who led his team to an upset over Purdue?

One of the breakout stars of the 2023 NCAA men’s tournament is bound to be Fairleigh Dickinson junior guard Sean Moore.

Moore led the Knights with 19 points in their dramatic takedown of No. 1 seed Purdue during the opening round of this year’s tournament.

Fairleigh Dickinson became just the second No. 16 seed in NCAA men’s tournament history to topple a top-seeded team.

The game was played at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, which just so happens to be Moore’s hometown.

Moore played his high school ball in Reynoldsburg, which is a suburb of Columbus. He also transferred to Fairleigh Dickinson from Division II program St. Thomas Aquinas along with Knights head coach Tobin Anderson and two teammates before the season.

As fate would have it, Moore got to play for his home crowd as he led his team to the absolutely historic upset.

He also hit the game’s pivotal 3-pointer that helped Fairleigh Dickinson cement the victory.

Moore had plenty of family and friends on hand to witness his colossal performance on college basketball’s biggest stage.

It looks like Moore’s cheering section paid off, as he and the Knights will now advance in the 2023 NCAA men’s tournament after an absolutely stunning upset.

CBS broadcaster Andrew Catalon had the perfect call of Fairleigh Dickinson’s Purdue upset

CBS broadcaster Andrew Catalon had the PERFECT call of Fairleigh Dickinson upsetting Purdue.

History was made on Friday night as No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson pulled off the unfathomable upset over No. 1 Purdue in the 2023 NCAA men’s tournament.

The Knights’ 63-58 victory over the Boilermakers is only the second-ever time a No. 16 seed has taken down a No. 1 seed in the NCAA men’s tournament.

Fairleigh Dickinson joins University of Maryland, Baltimore County as the two No. 16 seeds in NCAA men’s tournament history to defeat a No. 1 seed.

CBS broadcaster Andrew Catalon marked the occasion with the absolutely perfect call to announce Fairleigh Dickinson’s monumental upset.

“FDU believe it?” Catalon exclaimed on the game broadcast, which will now go down in March Madness history.

You can also hear the call of the pivotal Sean Moore 3-pointer for Fairleigh Dickinson that helped widen the team’s final margin for victory.

College basketball fans will be talking about what Fairleigh Dickinson has accomplished for years, and Andrew Catalon’s pitch-perfect call of the seismic win will forever follow this historic moment.

Where is Fairleigh Dickinson, the No. 16 seed with the historic upset of No. 1 Purdue?

Where is Fairleigh Dickinson, the No. 16 seed who just took down No. 1 seed Purdue?

Fairleigh Dickinson shocked the basketball world on Friday night by becoming only the second-ever No. 16 seed to take down a No. 1 seed in the NCAA men’s tournament.

The 63-58 victory over star-studded Purdue has plenty of people wondering who exactly Fairleigh Dickinson is and where they come from.

Well, the school is located in Hackensack, New Jersey. Fairleigh Dickinson describes itself as “the largest private university in New Jersey” and that it’s a “not-for-profit, nonsectarian, multicampus institution.”

Fairleigh Dickinson’s website says it was founded in 1942 and estimates it has 12,000-plus full-time and part-time students.

This is the school’s seventh appearance in the NCAA men’s tournament.

The Knights won a play-in game over fellow No. 16 seed Prairie View View A&M in 2019 before losing to No. 1 Gonzaga.

Fairleigh Dickinson now joins University of Maryland, Baltimore County as the second team to ever take down a No. 1 seed in the NCAA men’s tournament.

It’s history that will reverberate in New Jersey and beyond for years to come.

Loyola Chicago makes stunning buzzer-beater with 1.8 seconds left to force overtime in opener

What a shot!

Loyola Chicago’s men’s basketball team took 1.8 seconds very seriously Monday night.

On a long inbound pass down 77-75 to Fairleigh Dickinson, Ramblers junior guard Sheldon Edwards made a last-second bucket to force an overtime with the Knights.

It’s the kind of last-ditch play from a team before the buzzer that usually goes for naught. Though, Edwards did such a fantastic job of pulling down the ball and setting himself up calmly to knock down the game-tying bucket just before the clock hit all zeroes.

Loyola Chicago has never been afraid of defying the odds, but they need to think about poor Sister Jean before packing in too many heartstopping moments this season.

What an incredible play by Edwards to force overtime. His late-game heroics set the Ramblers up for an 88-82 home OT victory to start the season.

He also led the team with 19 points on the night, while senior forward Tom Welch had a double-double with 15 points and 15 boards.

In what’s been a wild kickoff to college basketball, Loyola Chicago does what it does best: shocks the world when nobody expects it.
