Here’s why Chiefs DE Frank Clark has been excused from mandatory minicamp

We now know why #Chiefs DE Frank Clark has been excused from mandatory minicamp.

Kansas City Chiefs DE Frank Clark has been absent from the first two practices of mandatory minicamp.

The team’s public relations staff confirmed following each practice that these were excused absences, but they gave no further explanation. There was some speculation that it might have something to do with his birthday being on June 14, but it’s actually another situation that calls for celebration.

According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Clark has been excused from minicamp as he awaits the birth of his child.

Clark already has one daughter, Phoenix. He will be welcoming a new child any day now per Rapoport’s report.

For fans who are concerned about Clark missing OTAs and now minicamp, Chiefs DT Chris Jones sought to ease concerns on Wednesday. He reassured reporters that Clark is involved in what has been going on this offseason and is preparing himself to have a big year in 2022.

“We actually spoke yesterday,” Jones said. “Belated happy birthday to my boy Frank (Clark). Me and Frank have been in contact throughout the offseason. I understand (the concerns). He’s doing what he has to do to make sure he’s good for this season and we support him.”

Jamal Adams to miss Seahawks minicamp, absence will be excused

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams will not attend the team’s mandatory minicamp but his absence will be excused for personal reasons.

The Seattle Seahawks will be without the services of safety Jamal Adams during this week’s mandatory minicamp. His absence, however, will be excused for personal reasons.

Adams is one of a number of veterans who did not attend any of the Seahawks voluntary offseason programming in person, although he did participate virtually.

The Seahawks were aware he could potentially miss the mandatory minicamp as well and had been preparing for his absence, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Numerous outlets have now confirmed Adams has been excused from the camp and therefore not subject to the more than $93,000 fine.

More information should be made available once coach Pete Carroll addresses the media.
