Tennessee-Alabama ‘College GameDay’: Guest picker nominations

Tennessee-Alabama ‘College GameDay’: A look at guest picker nominations

No. 8 Tennessee (5-0, 2-0 SEC) will host No. 1 Alabama (6-0, 3-0 SEC) Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Week 7.

Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. EDT. CBS will televise the Southeastern Conference matchup.

ESPN “College GameDay” will broadcast from the University of Tennessee’s campus ahead of the Vols and Crimson Tide matchup.

The show airs live on ESPN from 9 a.m.-noon EDT Saturday.

Saturday will mark the 11th time Tennessee will host ESPN “College GameDay.” The Tennessee-Alabama contest will mark the 23rd game the Vols have appeared on ESPN “College GameDay.”

“College GameDay” broadcasted at Tennessee Sept. 24 for the Vols’ matchup with Florida. WWE’s and former Lady Vol Bianca Belair served as a guest picker for “College GameDay” ahead of the Tennessee-Florida contest.

USC-Utah snubbed for ESPN College GameDay on Oct. 15

Thanks a lot, Utah. The Utes’ loss to UCLA prevented #USC from being on College GameDay for the first time in 2022. ESPN’s crew won’t be in Salt Lake City in Week 7.

Some guys have all the luck.

Our friends at Vols Wire — whom you should follow for this upcoming weekend’s super showdown with Alabama — will host a second ESPN College GameDay game of 2022.

Three weeks after hosting GameDay — and the Florida Gators — in Week 4, the Vols will roll out the red carpet (or is it orange carpet?) for Nick Saban and Alabama in Week 7.

This means USC and Utah, in that Oct. 15 game we all circled on our calendars as soon as the schedule came out, won’t be on the big ESPN college football pregame show. Lincoln Riley will have to wait.

There are a few things we need to say about this:

Instant reaction: Dan Lanning’s Ducks buck history with 49-22 win over Arizona

Oregon is beginning a habit of erasing some unfortunate history as the Ducks dominate in the desert.

The Oregon Ducks football team has had physicality issues when it came to playing Stanford.

That was put to bed last week with the Ducks dominating the line of scrimmage in the 45-27 win over the Cardinal.

Fast forward to tonight as Oregon traveled down to Tucson, Ariz., a place where for whatever reason the Ducks don’t play their best football. Arizona has seemed to get the best of Oregon over the last decade down in the desert. The last time Oregon had won at Arizona was in 2011 and LaMichael James rushed for nearly 300 yards.

That streak ended tonight.

Dan Lanning’s Ducks don’t pay attention to recent history, apparently, because they went down to Arizona and outclassed the Wildcats in just about every way possible in the 49-22 win.

The offensive line pushed Arizona back and opened up huge holes for the tailbacks and the quarterback alike. Oregon finished the game with 306 rushing yards and all seven touchdowns.

Bo Nix continues to have an incredible senior season as he burned Arizona for 265 passing yards and 70 more on the ground, including three rushing touchdowns.

This is what a complete offensive game looks like. Oregon scored on five straight drives to turn a 14-3 lead into a 49-13 lead.  As it turned out, the Wildcats were turned into kittens after one and a half quarters.

Now as the Ducks head into the bye week, they’ll prepare for a huge game Oct. 22 as an undefeated UCLA team, along with Chip Kelly, make its way into Autzen Stadium. It’s also a possible stop for ESPN’s College Gameday.

College GameDay in Eugene? Fans react to possibility after UCLA’s win over Utah

College GameDay in Eugene? Should Oregon take care of business against Arizona, it’s a real possibility after No. 18 UCLA’s win vs. No. 11 Utah.

On Saturday afternoon while the Ducks waited for their game against Arizona to get underway, Oregon fans were delighted with an interesting possibility.

The notion that ESPN’s College GameDay might potentially be making its way to Eugene in a couple of weeks became a real possibility.

With No. 18 UCLA’s 42-32 win over No. 11 Utah on Saturday, it’s clear that the Bruins now stand as one of the top teams in the Pac-12, and will likely be ranked in the high teens after this week is over. If the No. 12 Ducks can handle their business against the Wildcats on Saturday night in the desert, it could be a marquee matchup in Eugene.

Might Oregon vs. UCLA be a top-10 matchup? More importantly from the fan perspective, might it be the location for GameDay to come set up shop?

While that question made the waves on social media, Oregon fans reacted. Here are some of the best tweets…

According to Kirk Herbstreit, Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies have a culture problem

According to Kirk Herbstreit, Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies have a culture problem

On this Saturday’s week 6 edition of ESPN’s College Gameday, host and well-known college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit made a somewhat startling claim about Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher, and the Aggie program while discussing tonight’s primetime matchup against the No.1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, stating that youth and inexperience aren’t to blame for Texas A&M’s on-field woes this season, and instead the “culture” within the program is the primary culprit.

Co-host and former Georgia linebacker David Pollack opened the conversation by stating,

“The defense has been great and has held their own this season, but they’re a young football team. The offense is un-good, it’s ungood, theres no creativity.”

Herbstreit countered while bringing the program’s culture into the mix, completely disagreeing that youth on both sides of the ball can be used as the sole reason for the team’s immense struggles this season:

“When I hear that they’re young, he’s been there five years, you can’t use that they’re young,” Herbstreit stated. “To me, it’s more about culture. I’m just curious to see are the kids all in for each other. Sometimes, you wonder if they’re all on the same page. When it’s not going good, you see cracks in the armor.”

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on why the Aggies have yet again failed to live up to preseason expectations, but let me make one thing clear that I believe we can all agree on: Texas A&M has 7 games left this season to right their wrongs, fix the fixable issues, and continue developing their young talent. Gig ’em, and BTHO Alabama.

ESPN College GameDay crew picks winner in Alabama vs. Texas A&M

See who the GameDay Crew thinks will come out on top in this big-time revenge game for the Crimson Tide!

Alabama football welcomes in Texas A&M in a Week 6 SEC showdown circled on many fans’ calendars over the last few months.

Though it was originally thought to be a fight for the top spot in the SEC West with playoff implications and a battle between to feuding coaches, it has turned into anything but.

The Aggies rank No. 5 in the SEC West, have suffered two losses and are currently unranked. Jimbo Fisher’s job security has also raised a few questions, which means his focus is no longer on Nick Saban and his opinion on the name, image, likeness (NIL) policy.

ESPN’s College GameDay crew broadcasted live from Lawrence, Kansas ahead of the Kansas vs. TCU Big-12 matchup.

It was unanimous when it came down to picking between the Aggies and the Crimson Tide: Alabama takes it.
