Ohio State football recruiting scouting report: Eric Mensah

Ohio State football recruiting scouting report: Eric Mensah #GoBucks

Ohio State football had another dominant recruiting class for the 2024 haul and landed a consensus top-five class in the country. Once again, the class features serious star power and the Buckeyes were able to snag some amazing talent on the defensive side of the ball including a fascinating prospect from the state of Virginia.

Name: Eric Mensah

High School: Mountain View (Stafford, VA)

Height: 6 feet, 3 inches

Weight: 290 pounds

Position: Defensive Lineman

Strength

Eric Mensah will likely see a majority of his time on the interior do the defensive line, but his athleticism and size will allow the defensive staff to move him around a bit throughout his career. His frame is ideal for an interior defender too and it would not be surprising to see him crack the 300-pound mark.

Ohio State football recruiting: What to expect from DL commit Eric Mensah

What do you expect from the newest Buckeye commitment? #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] got a surprise commit on Friday morning, when 2024 Virginia defensive lineman [autotag]Eric Mensah[/autotag] flipped his Virginia Tech verbal to the Buckeyes.

The interest between the two sides wasn’t very well known, as the former Hokie commit looked like he was content staying home and playing in front of his family.

That’s the power of an Ohio State offer, it can make a recruit rethink about their decision, which is exactly the case with Mensah.

Find out below what kind of skill set he brings with him when he will arrive in Columbus with the rest of the 2024 class after reviewing his junior film and a few short clips of his senior campaign.

Ohio State football flips Virginia Tech 2024 defensive end

A little BOOM for your Friday morning #GoBucks

The search for [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] to add another 2024 defensive end saw another domino fall on Friday morning.

Virginia’s [autotag]Eric Mensah[/autotag], who had been committed to Virginia Tech since mid-July, was offered a scholarship and subsequently flipped his commitment to the Buckeyes on Friday.

The 6-foot, 3-inch, 290-pound edge isn’t as highly ranked as some of us would like, coming in at No. 53 at his position and 802nd nationally according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. However, the coaching staff must have seen something they like that projects him better than the national recruiting rankings.

Mensah fills a need at the position and give the staff some insurance if they miss out on some of their more higher profile targets. Furthermore, taking a developmental prospect isn’t always a bad idea.

Ohio State now has 22 total commits in the 2024 recruiting class, with three defensive linemen.
