Wolfenstein: The New Order is free on the Epic Games Store

One fantastic shooter is up for grabs.

So the mystery giveaway season is still in full force on Epic’s storefront. Last week, the BioShock trilogy was up for grabs. Now, there’s something even better!

This week, Wolfenstein: The New Order is free on the Epic Games Store until June 9, 2022, at 8:00 A.M. PDT // 11 A.M. EDT // 4 P.M. GMT. This game is, no exaggeration, one of the best first-person shooters ever made. Full stop. Download it here. If you’ve never played it before, then goodness, are you ever in for a treat.

Personally, I’d rank Wolfenstein: The New Order among the likes of Half-life 2, Titanfall 2, Halo 3, and Doom 2016. The gameplay is superb, and there’s even a surprisingly well-told story.

Next week, Epic is giving away more cool stuff. It’s still mystery season, so I can’t tell you what it is. That would ruin the surprise! There’s also the fact that I have no earthly idea of what it might be. So keep your eyes peeled for my weekly roundup.  

As a reminder, the Epic Games Store Mega Sale is still happening. Loads of brand-spanking-new titles like Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Far Cry 6 are seeing huge discounts, so it’s worth checking out.

Borderlands 3 is free on the Epic Games Store

It was worth the wait.

Last week, Epic teased that a mystery game would be up for grabs. The cynical part of me assumed it would be in-game currency for something like Genshin Impact or Fortnite, but that isn’t the case at all. It turns out, the crow is all mine!

This week, Borderlands 3 is free on the Epic Games Store until May 26, 2022, at 8:00 A.M. PDT // 11 A.M. EDT // 4 P.M. GMT. Yes, that wildly popular looter shooter from Gearbox Software costs absolutely nothing. Zip, zilch, nada, nothing! Download the PC version right here. Don’t hesitate; just go for it. Epic is giving away a mystery game next week

Meanwhile, Prey, Jotun, and Redout are free right now.

Once again, we’re left wishing the week was over. Alas, that isn’t the case. If nothing else, at least the folks over at Epic are giving away free PC games. Some absolute bangers this time, too. 

This week, Prey, Jotun: Valhalla Edition, and Redout: Enhanced Edition are free on the Epic Games Store until May 19, 2022, at 8:00 A.M. PDT // 11 A.M. EDT // 4 P.M. GMT. We’ll include download links for each below.

Prey is a brilliant immersive from Arkane Studios that every sci-fi nerd loves. If you like Dishonored or Deathloop, definitely check this one out. Jotun looks like an adventure title with Norse mythology as a backdrop, while Redout is a futuristic racing bash. Sort of like F-Zero or Wipeout if you’ve ever played those.

Next week, we have no idea what the Epic Games Store is giving away! Typically, the storefront announces what’ll be free ahead of time. But right now, it simply says a “mystery game” will be up for grabs. So your guess is as good as mine.

Meanwhile, Terraforming Mars is free right now.

Thursdays are difficult. It’s the end of the week, but there’s still one more day until you can kick back and relax. Mixed emotions, for sure. If nothing else, at least Thursday also gives us freebies off of Epic’s storefront.

As you can probably guess, this one is about turning the red planet into something hospitable for humans. It’s like a tabletop game for space nerds. Yet another dreary week is almost over, which means there are freebies on Epic’s storefront waiting for you. Go ahead, treat yourself. It’s all free-to-keep, after all!

This week, Just Die Already and Paradigm are free on the Epic Games Store until May 5, 2022, at 8:00 A.M. PDT // 11 A.M. EDT // 4 P.M. GMT. Just Die Already is some strange sandbox title about terrorizing the neighborhood as a senior citizen, while Paradigm is a surreal arthouse-like experiment. You can pick both up here and here, respectively. It’s probably not intentional, but Epic sure is all-in on wonderfully weird stuff right now, eh?

Next week, Terraforming Mars will be free on the Epic Games Store from May 5, 2022, through May 12, 2022, at 8:00 A.M. PDT // 11 A.M. EDT // 4 P.M. GMT. Anyone that loves space exploration and colonization sims might be into this one. There aren’t many impressions out there for Terraforming Mars, aside from the “Mostly Positive” user rating on Steam. Again, it’s free, so scooping it up won’t be an investment.

May is looking great for upcoming releases overall. If Epic’s free stuff doesn’t tickle your fancy, maybe one of the many titles Amazon Prime Gaming is giving away will.

Somehow, you’ve nearly made it through another long, challenging week. So treat yourself to some free games off of Epic’s PC storefront! 

This week, Amnesia: Rebirth and Riverbond will be free on the Epic Games Store until April 28, 2022, at 8:00 A.M. PDT // 11 A.M. EDT // 4 P.M. GMT. So if a spooky, narrative-driven adventure about motherhood sounds interesting, then pick up Amnesia: Rebirth here. On the other hand, Riverbond is a silly co-op romp full of charming cartoon characters, which you can get here. 

Remember, these games are free-to-keep. So there are no limitations once they’re added to your account.

Next week, Just Die Already and Paradigm will be free on the Epic Games Store starting April 28, 2022, right after this week’s offerings are gone. 

Just Die Already is an “old people mayhem sandbox sim,” according to the development team. It’s from the same people that made Goat Simulator, so it’ll probably be good for a laugh. Meanwhile, Paradigm is an adventure title about exploring post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe. Apparently, it’s full of surrealism, so anyone that loves weird stuff should try keep it on their radar.

Another week is nearly behind us, meaning Epic is giving away free stuff once again! Yes, Tim Sweeney doesn’t hoard all those Fortnite V-bucks to himself. Sometimes he’s even gracious enough to give us treats, only demanding on-the-spot flossing in return.

This week, XCOM 2 and Insurmountable will be free on the Epic Games Store until April 21, 2022, at 8:00 A.M. PDT // 11 A.M. EDT // 4 P.M. GMT. So if either tactical battles with aliens or mountain climbing are things you fancy, there are options! You can pick up XCOM 2 and Insurmountable here and here, respectively. Don’t forget to floss, though.

Next week, Amnesia: Rebirth and Riverbond will be free on the Epic Games Store starting April 21, 2022, at 8:00 A.M. PDT // 11 A.M. EDT // 4 P.M. GMT. 

Riverbond is an adorable little couch co-op adventure that received okay-ish reviews at release. Currently, it’s sitting at 60 on Metacritic. Amnesia: Rebirth, on the other hand, is a brilliant horror title that I insist you check out. Seriously, I wrote a whole review for it explaining why.
