The Antstream Epic Welcome Pack is free on the Epic Games Store next week

Three free games this week, one bundle next week!

Thursday always means free stuff on the Epic Games Store. So guess what? There are free games on the Epic Games Store today!

This week’s freebies include Guild of DungeoneeringNever Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) and the KID A MNESIA Exhibition. All three are available for download  here  from Nov. 18 to Nov. 25. Except for  Radiohead’s weird KID A MNESIA Exhibition  which is free as of today until forever. So get out there and wander around in Thom Yorke’s digital art gallery already!

Next week, the Antstream – Epic Welcome Pack  is up for grabs. Antsteam Arcade  is a massive collection of retro classics, including Mortal Kombat, Pac-Man  and about 1000 others. The Epic Welcome Pack  gives you 1090 gems for the in-game store. Finally, an excuse to check out what this Space Invaders  thing is all about.

Not a bad haul this week. Guild of Dungeoneering is a decent little dungeon Crawler sitting at  72 on Metacritic. Coincidentally, Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) also has a  72 on Metacritic. That one is a side-scrolling platformer with some gorgeous visuals.

‘KID A MNESIA’ is Radiohead’s free interactive exhibit coming soon

Video game? Digital art galley? Who knows.

Radiohead and Epic Games are teaming up for the KID A MNESIA Exhibition, an interactive experience that’s coming on Nov. 18.

See, the KID A MNESIA Exhibition  isn’t so much a video game as it is, well, an exhibition commemorating the 20 years of Radiohead’s Kid A  and Amnesiac  albums. So the KID A MNESIA Exhibition  takes music from those records and mashes them together with surrealistic artwork that you can explore like a weird fever dream. Yes, it sure is bizarre! The good thing is it’ll be free to try out on PlayStation 5, PC and Mac.

Take a look at the KID A MNESIA Exhibition  trailer for yourself below.

According to NME, the KID A MNESIA Exhibition was going to be a physical exhibit that couldn’t materialize due to several logistical issues.

This exhibition was announced back at  PlayStation’s State of Play showcase in September. When it comes out next week, it’ll be close to coinciding with Radiohead’s Kid A and Amnesiac reissue, also called Kid A Mnesia, which came out last week.

The Epic Games store is also promoting the exhibition  as part of its weekly free games.  I would love to see the faces of Fortnite  kids that stumble upon this by accident.

The former includes two new agent characters for Rogue Company, while the latter is a spin-off of the Borderlands series starring… well, Tiny Tina! Shocking, I know. Both games are available for free from now until Nov. 18.

Next week there are three games up for grabs: Guild of DungeoneeringKID A MNESIA Exhibition and Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna). Those will be available from Nov. 18 through Nov. 25 for anyone keen on enjoying some indie game goodness.

The ‘Rogue Company Epic Pack’ is free on the Epic Games Store next week

Aven Colony this week, and free Rogue Company characters next week!

It’s time once again for another round of free stuff courtesy of the Epic Games Store. I hope you went ahead and gave last week’s games a try! If not, your backlog will continue to pile up until it’s an eldritch monument to shame.

This week, Epic is giving away Aven Colony, a city-building simulator set in outer space. It’s free from now until Nov. 11 and is available for download here. Just don’t become a Weyland-Yutani executive while playing this, ok?

Next week, the Rogue Company Epic Pack  is up for grabs. It’ll come with two new agent characters: Switchblade and Scorch. Rogue Company  is a free-to-play third-person shooter that you can download here. The Epic Pack for the game will be free from Nov. 11 through Nov. 18, at which point the new content will unlock on your account.

Rogue Company came out last year and got pretty positive reviews. The game is sitting at a comfortable  75 on Metacritic  and seems to have an active player base. It might be worth checking out if you’re into hero shooters!

‘Aven Colony’ is free on the Epic Games Store next week

Aven Colony is teased on the Epic Games Store this week!

It’s time once again for the Epic Games Store to bestow upon us another free video game. What, you still haven’t played last week’s offerings? Shameful, please get on that before next time.

This week, Epic is giving away Darq Complete Edition, which you can download for free from now until Nov. 4. It’s a side-scrolling puzzle game full of surrealism, a perfect fit if you’re looking for something spooky on Halloween. You can download Darq Complete Edition here.

Epic also revealed that next week’s game is Aven Colony, an interstellar base-building sim. It’ll be available for free on the Epic Games Store from Nov. 4 until Nov. 11 here.

Check out a trailer of Aven Colony for yourself below.

Aven Colony came out back in 2017 to a fairly positive reception. It’s currently sitting at a 65 on Metacritic, which isn’t phenomenal, but hey, it’s free! It can’t hurt to try it out if you’re interested in building a futuristic utopia.

‘Darq: Complete Edition’ is free on the Epic Games Store

Go get this weird, David Lynch-like side scrolling horror game for free!

Well, it’s time for a brand spanking new free game to pop up on the Epic Games Store! Just make sure you install and play this one for a change, ok?

Halloween is nearly upon us, so naturally, Epic made a spooky selection for this week’s free game.

Darq: Complete Edition  is a side-scrolling puzzle game rife with surrealism and thunderous, spine-chilling jump scares. It’s pretty good! Short, too. Something you can finish in under six hours or so. Make sure you switch off the lights and wear headphones for this one to get the full effect. By that, I mean to enhance the scariness factor tenfold. It’s the kind of thing David Lynch would make if he were a game developer.

Check out the Darq: Complete Edition  trailer for yourself below.

Darq: Complete Edition  will be up for grabs beginning on Oct. 28. Until then, Among The Sleep  is available for free as well.

Last week’s free selection was Stubbs the Zombie  and the Paladins Epic Pack,  the former being an old-school action-adventure about a zombie running around in the 1950s, while the latter gave you five heroes in free-to-play hero-shooter Paladins.

Check back next week and we’ll clue you in on more EGS freebies.

CEO of Epic Games welcomes blockchain games after Valve removes them from Steam

Epic does what Ninten, er, Valve don’t?

Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, stated that games utilizing blockchain tech are welcome on The Epic Games store, The Verge  reported Friday

This news from Fortnite’s  developer comes mere hours after Valve  banned and delisted any games using  NFTs, cryptocurrency, and blockchain technologies from Steam. Likely because The Epic Games Store is Steam’s largest direct competitor for selling PC games and software.

Epic told The Verge  that the company is willing to work with developers that support cryptocurrency and blockchain-based assets on The Epic Games Store. Right after the story went live, Sweeny commented on the situation.

“Epic Games Store will welcome games that make use of blockchain tech provided they follow the relevant laws, disclose their terms, and are age-rated by an appropriate group,” Sweeny said on Twitter. “Though Epic’s not using crypto in our games, we welcome innovation in the areas of technology and finance.”

Sweeny continued: “As a technology, the blockchain is just a distributed transactional database with a decentralized business model that incentivizes investment in hardware to expand the database’s capacity. This has utility whether or not a particular use of it succeeds or fails.”

Valve is not the only company Epic Games has gone toe-to-toe with recently. Last month, Apple blacklisted Fornite  from its devices  in response to the ongoing legal battle between both companies.

‘Nightfair’ is a fan-made mode that turns ‘Fortnite’ into ‘Dead By Daylight’

No build wars, only loops.

Dead By Daylight might be the king of the asymmetrical horror genre, but fans of Fornite  are putting their spin on the formula.

Nightfair is a free Fortnite mode that transforms the battle royale into something resembling Behavior Interactive’s Dead By Daylight. Six survivor players have to outrun another player hunting them inside a big spooky theme park. Well, “spooky” is being generous as this mode maintains Fornite’s kid-friendly visuals. You don’t repair generators to escape like in Dead By Daylight either, but rather, coin-collecting is how the survivors escape.

Indie developer Meta 4 Interactive created Nightfair  in Fortnite’s creative mode, and it’s available for free inside the game’s discovery tab. Or add it by island code  8342-0826-6393.

Check out the trailer for Nightfair for yourself below.

Many fans were speculating that all of this would lead to an official Dead by Daylight crossover with Fortnite, mainly because the Epic Games Store account was joking around about it on Twitter. To which the official Dead by Daylight  account responded.

Brand accounts play around on Twitter all the time, though, so don’t take this as a sign of things to come.
