Michigan State football offers 2024 4-star ATH Emmett Mosley, Notre Dame legacy

Being a legacy can sometimes be a huge factor in recruiting, but having a family member that went to a school doesn’t always mean that team will land their commitment. That will be something to keep in mind as Michigan State football pursues Emmett Mosley, a 2024 4-star recruiting prospect whose parents both played at Notre Dame (father Emmett played football and mother Cindy was a star soccer player).

Keep an eye on 2024 USC target Emmett Mosley

Emmett Mosley could become an elite receiver or an elite cornerback, giving his college program an abundance of riches.

Emmett Mosley is ranked as the nation’s No. 156 overall player by 247Sports composite. He is ranked as the 23rd-best football athlete in the nation, for players who don’t have a specific positional assignment as a recruiting prospect. Mosley already has offers from USC, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, LSU, Notre Dame, Penn State, Arizona and Arizona State. The standout from Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) has many more to come.

The 6-0, 175-pound standout played for Anaheim Servite as a sophomore, but he transferred to Santa Margarita Catholic during the offseason. He expects to be an all-state player this season and one of the best defensive backs in the class of 2024.

USC fans will love the fun fact that Mosley is the son of a pair of former Notre Dame student athletes. His father Emmett played wide receiver for the Irish from 1993-96, with 52 catches for 755 yards and a score during his career. Mosley also rushed for 275 yards and five touchdowns.

His mother, Cindy Mosley, was a star soccer player for Notre Dame. She finished her career with 61 career goals, which at the time was a program record.

Mosley seems to have a natural feel for the game and is a great athlete on both sides of the ball. You can tell he will be an excellent zone corner at the next level. I consider Mosley to be an elite prospect by the end of the year who could quite easily become a lockdown corner at the next level. He can excel in both man and zone coverage for the Trojans or whichever team he decides on.

Iowa Hawkeyes offer 2024 ATH Emmett Mosley out of California

Iowa offered 2024 athlete Emmett Mosley out of Santa Margarita Catholic High School in California.

Iowa stayed busy with its 2024 recruiting efforts over the weekend, offering athlete [autotag]Emmett Mosley[/autotag] out of Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.

The 6-foot, 175 pound athlete is ranked as a four-star recruit by 247Sports, Rivals and in the On3 consensus. 247Sports regards Mosley as the No. 120 player nationally in the 2024 cycle, the No. 19 athlete and the 12th-best player from California.

Meanwhile, Rivals ranks Mosley as the No. 154 player nationally, the No. 23 athlete and the No. 14 player from California. On3 rates Mosley as a three-star prospect, the No. 261 player nationally, the No. 19 athlete and as the Golden State’s 18th highest-rated recruit. In the On3 consensus, Mosley checks in as the country’s No. 187 player, the No. 12 athlete and the No. 14 player from California. According to 247Sports, Mosley also holds offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas and USC.

It continues a recent offers surge in the 2024 class. In the last three weeks, Iowa has offered athlete [autotag]Caleb Benning[/autotag] from Westside High School in Omaha, Neb., tight end [autotag]Christian Bentancur[/autotag] from Marian Central High School in Woodstock, Ill., running back [autotag]Jordan Marshall[/autotag] from Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, offensive lineman [autotag]Ian Moore[/autotag] from New Palestine High School in Indiana and athlete [autotag]Preston Ries[/autotag] from Monticello High School in Iowa.

The Hawkeyes also offered and subsequently earned a commitment from Derek Weisskopf of Williamsburg High School in Iowa. Adding the commitment from Weisskopf means that the Hawkeyes now have commitments from the top three players from Iowa in the 2024 class. Iowa also has commitments from offensive lineman [autotag]Cody Fox[/autotag] and linebacker [autotag]Cam Buffington[/autotag].

Mosley has played both wide receiver and in the defensive backfield for Santa Margarita. He’s the son of former Notre Dame football player Emmett Mosley. His mother, Cindy Mosley, played soccer at Notre Dame and won the Hermann Trophy. Mosley’s sister, Jalyn Mosley, currently plays for Iowa’s women’s soccer team and will be a junior this coming season. Here’s a look at Mosley’s freshman season Hudl highlights.

Notre Dame offers big time legacy prospect

Will mom and dad help steer him to South Bend?

Emmett Mosley, IV is a familiar name for some Notre Dame fans as the running back/wide receiver played for the Fighting Irish in the early 90’s.  Mosley totaled 1,030 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns while at Notre Dame, four of which came against Navy in 1994.

Now Emmett Mosley, V. is officially on the Notre Dame watchlist as the elite 2024 prospect received a scholarship offer from Tommy Rees and the Irish on Thursday.

It’s incredibly early to be ranking the 2024 recruiting class prospects but Mosley will almost certainly be among the biggest name recruits in the country that cycle.  The 6-0, 175 pounder from Santa Margarita Catholic in California is listed by 247Sports as the 15th overall prospect in the entire class.  Regardless of how early in the process it is, that’s big time for the athlete.

Not only did Mosley’s father play football at Notre Dame but his mother Cindy was among the best soccer players ever for the Irish, scoring 61 goals in her career and earning the Hermann Trophy for being the nation’s top female soccer player in 1996.

Here’s hoping that legacy connection helps Notre Dame’s chances for this elite prospect in the years to come.
