The New York Giants held their weekly workouts in East Rutherford on Tuesday and the focus this time around was on offensive linemen.

Among those in for a tryout were offensive tackles Devery Hamilton and Elijah Nkansah, and guard Forrest Lamp.

The 27-year-old Lamp was a second-round pick of the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2017 NFL draft. He spent four seasons with L.A. before joining the Buffalo Bills for a cup of coffee this past offseason.

Lamp has appeared in 25 career games with 18 starts.

Nkansah, 26, was signed by the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted rookie out of Toledo in 2018. He has also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks (2018-2019), Houston Texans (2019-2020), Indianapolis Colts (2021) and New York Jets (2021). He also had a brief second stint with the Titans earlier this year.

Nkansah has appeared in just one career game (no starts).

Finally, the 23-year-old Hamilton signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted rookie out of Duke (by way of Stanford) earlier this year before being released, re-signed and then released again in late September. He has never appeared in a regular-season game.

The Giants passed on both Lamp and Nkansahm for now, but have signed Hamilton to their practice squad.

Tennessee Titans claim OL Elijah Nkansah off waivers

The Titans now have 13 offensive linemen on their roster.

The Tennessee Titans have added a new offensive lineman to their roster after the team claimed tackle Elijah Nkansah off waivers on Thursday.

Nkansah, who was recently released by the Indianapolis Colts after signing a futures contract with the team, was an undrafted free-agent signing out of Toledo by the Titans back in 2018 but was released after training camp.

Since then, Nkansah has played in just one game during his career, which came in 2018 as a member of the Seattle Seahawks, and he has spent time on the practice squads of the Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans.

With the addition of the 26-year-old, who stands at 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, the Titans now have 13 offensive linemen on the roster.

Nkansah will have a steep hill to climb if he wants to make the roster out of training camp. Chances are the best-case scenario for him will be to end up on Tennessee’s practice squad.

Colts waive 3 players

Colts made minor roster moves.

The Indianapolis Colts waived punter Austin Rehkow and offensive tackles Elijah Nkansah and Casey Tucker, the team announced Wednesday.

All three players signed reserve/futures contracts in January and were expected to be camp bodies throughout the offseason and preseason.

The Colts have a need at left tackle even with the free-agency signings of Julién Davenport and Sam Tevi this offseason. The consensus remains that the Colts will use an early pick on a left tackle in the draft while Davenport and Tevi battle it out for depth.

Indy is set to be on the clock for the No. 21 in the 2021 NFL draft on Thursday night.

Colts sign 3 more to futures contracts

Colts add 3 more futures contracts.

The Indianapolis Colts signed offensive tackles Jake Benzinger and Elijah Nkansah and cornerback Anthony Chesley to reserve/future contracts, the team announced Tuesday.

The Colts will continue to fill their roster until they reach the 90-man limit for the offseason. Most of these players are camp bodies who will be getting a shot to prove their worth to NFL coaches, but its more about the Colts trying to see if they can find a diamond in the rough.

The Colts have already signed several players to futures contracts but they remain on the reserve list until the day after the Super Bowl in February. Then, they will be added to the active roster.

Are the Texans planning to sit LT Laremy Tunsil out for the Titans game?

The Houston Texans made roster moves on Saturday that indicate they will have LT Laremy Tunsil inactive for Week 17’s tilt with the Tennessee Titans.

The Houston Texans may declare left tackle Laremy Tunsil inactive for the Tennessee Titans game, not even dressing him for the Week 17 rematch with their AFC South rivals.

A series of roster moves on Saturday suggests the 10-5 division champions won’t dress the former 2016 first-round pick, who was limited all week in practice with an ankle injury and declared questionable on the final injury report.

On Saturday, the Texans waived defensive lineman Joel Heath, and in a corresponding move they promoted offensive tackle Elijah Nkansah from the practice squad to the active roster.

Dropping Heath is one of the moves the Texans make when they add a player due to an injury at another position.

Case in point: in Week 12, coming off of a 41-7 beat down in Baltimore, safety Jonathan Owens was signed to the active roster from the practice squad as Justin Reid would be out for the rematch with the Indianapolis Colts with a concussion. As a result, the Texans waived Heath.

However, when the club lets go of Heath, it doesn’t mean that he is out of their plans. After they got through Week 12 and Reid was back, they waived Owens and signed Heath back to the active roster.

With Heath dropped for Week 17, the game relatively meaningless in terms of getting out of wild-card weekend, and Tunsil, a Pro Bowl left tackle, battling an ankle injury, all signs point to Nkansah being the swing tackle as tackles Roderick Johnson and Chris Clark help the Texans get through the final 60 minutes of the regular season.
