Prediction

Seahawks 24, Eagles 20

Moneyline (?)

The SEAHAWKS (+100) remain a solid play because of the small price and value vs. the Eagles (-121). The Eagles lacked any kind of downfield punch last week and it did not help that their receivers dropped at least three or passes on routes of 15-plus yards.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on the Seahawks to win returns a profit of $10 with a victory.

Against the Spread (?)

Back the SEAHAWKS against the spread as well at (+1.5, -110). Seattle is rested and should win this game outright. They’ll need to lose by a single point or win straight up in order to cover. The moneyline is the more profitable play.

Over/Under (?)

The UNDER 48.5 (-115) is the bet here. The Eagles’ offense seems to be decreasing by the week and Seattle’s defense looks to be improving. Rest this time of year is rare and for Seattle to have such a late bye is huge. That may be enough to slow down the Eagles’ attack and keep the Under as the play.

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys 6-4

It still feels like Dallas should be better than it is. The Cowboys have a talented defense but give up too many points. They have a stud running back but go to Ezekiel Elliott too often on early downs. Dak Prescott is an MVP candidate. Dallas almost needs to win this game against the Patriots because the Eagles have an extremely easy schedule after Week 12. It’s a weird situation.

Remaining Games: @Patriots, Bills, @Bears, Rams, @Eagles, Redskins

Philadelphia Eagles 5-5

The Eagles are the new Falcons. Everyone expects them to win but they do something every other game that makes us question whether they are actually good. Their defensive injuries have now transitioned to the offense. If Philadelphia can beat the Seahawks this week, they could end up 10-6 or 11-5. It’s all very odd. The NFC East could come down to the Week 16 game against Dallas.

Remaining Games:  Seahawks, @Dolphins, Giants, @Redskins, Cowboys, @Giants

Former Longhorn Jordan Hicks continues his career year as he leads the NFL in tackles

This past offseason, former Texas Longhorn Jordan Hicks was signed by the Arizona Cardinals to a 4-year, $34 million contract. Before that, Hicks played four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Early into his tenure with the Cardinals, Hicks is having the best year of his career – and pacing the NFL in tackles.

Through 11 games, Hicks has tallied 111 tackles (66 solo), 1.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 3 interceptions, 8 tackles for loss, and 6 passes defended. He has already set multiple career highs, reaching a new best in tackles, forced fumbles, solo tackles, tackles for loss, and quarterback hits. As the unquestioned leader of the resurging Cardinals defense, Hicks has brought a hard-nosed Texas Longhorn attitude to Arizona.

Seahawks have history of success after bye weeks

The Seattle Seahawks have a successful history in games following bye weeks under quarterback Russell Wilson and coach Pete Carroll.

The Seattle Seahawks are in the middle of their bye week, which is the part of the year that all teams look forward to. With their 8-2 record, the Seahawks have certainly earned a breather.

Coming out of the bye, the Seahawks will be playing the Eagles in a battle of the birds. By this time of the season, it is clear Seattle is one of the better teams in the NFL, but what kind of effect could the week off have?

History says not a lot.

Since Pete Carroll took over as head coach in 2010, the Seahawks are 6-3 coming off a bye week, and two of those losses came in 2011 and 2012. That means that Russell Wilson-led teams are 5-2 following the week off from competition.

The last time the Seahawks lost after a bye week was in 2015 when a Week-9 bye led into a 39-32 loss to the Cardinals. The last time the Seahawks’ bye week was during Week 11 it resulted in a 24-21 loss to the Dolphins.

Since 2010, the Seahawks have outscored their opponents 204 to 158 in games after bye weeks.

The Seahawks have never faced the Eagles after a bye week, but they have beaten them recently. The last time the pair squared off in the regular season, Seattle came out with a 24-10 win.

As a unit, the Seahawks have had success recently following bye weeks, and Wilson is a big part of that.

In those games, he’s thrown for a 67.9 completion percentage with 14 touchdowns and only one interception. The lone pick came at the hands of Tyrann Mathieu in 2015.

Wilson and the Seahawks just stuck the 49ers with their first loss in Week 10, and now they get their rest. History says Carroll and Wilson are successful after the breaks, which could be bad news for the Eagles in Week 12.

The NFL announced changes to the 2019 regular season schedule on Tuesday. For the time being, none of them involve the Dallas Cowboys’ final slate of seven games. Nothing will change for the Week 11 schedule, but Week 12 is going to flip a couple of important, NFC matchups between the various time slots.

Those contests of course, are being moved around the ratings bonanza that will fall upon CBS when the Cowboys travel up north to take on the current AFC leaders in the New England Patriots. The league is swapping Green Bay against San Francisco along with Seattle against Philadelphia.

The Cowboys game will occupy the national, late afternoon start and kickoff at 3:25 p.m. central, as planned. The Fox network had the Packers and 49ers squaring off in a local coverage game, but Kyle Shanahan has his club at 8-1, and they warrant more national exposure. Aaron Rodgers vs Jimmy Garoppolo is now the Sunday night contest on .

To round out the moves, Russell Wilson’s Seahawks will now kick off at what would be 10 am in their local time zone, as they and Doug Pederson’s Eagles will now host Seattle at noon central.

In addition to these changes, the league has announced their Week 16 slate of Saturday games the weekend before the holidays.

The Houston Texans will visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on 12/21 at noon central. That will be followed by the Buffalo Bills visiting the New England Patriots at 3:30 p.m., then the Los Angeles Rams will take on the 49ers at 7:15 p.m.

All of the Saturday games will be broadcast on the NFL Network.

There can certainly be more changes in the coming weeks, as the league continues to try and get the best contest to the most eyeballs.  On could even involve the Cowboys and Eagles’ Week 16 contest potentially getting the Sunday night treatment.

NFL Official Rules On Schedule Changes

Flexible Scheduling

Allows teams to play their way onto the Sunday night schedule

In 2006 the NFL implemented a primetime “flexible scheduling” element on Sundays in Weeks 10-15 and in Week 17. In 2014 that was extended so that games between Weeks 5 and 17 could be affected by flex scheduling. However, only two games may be flexed into Sunday Night between Week 5 and 10.

Flexible scheduling ensured quality matchups on Sunday night in those weeks and gave surprise teams a chance to play their way onto primetime. The NBC Sunday night time slot for “flex” weeks lists the game tentatively scheduled for Sunday night.

Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game will be moved to an afternoon start time. Flexible scheduling will not be applied to games airing on Thursday, Saturday or Monday nights.

Just as the six major college football conferences have done for many years, the NFL has the flexibility to move the start times of games on Sundays, using a 12-day notice format.

For example, a game scheduled for a Sunday could move from a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff to an 8:15 p.m. start, but the change would be made and announced no later than the prior Tuesday, 12 days prior. Sunday afternoon games, as in the past, can still be moved between 1:00 and 4:05 or 4:25 p.m. ET.

In Week 17, in order to ensure a Sunday night game with playoff implications, the decision to move the start time may be made on six days notice.

NFL Flexible Scheduling 101

  • Begins Sunday of Week 5
  • In effect during Weeks 5-17
  • Up to 2 games may be flexed into Sunday Night between Weeks 5-10
  • Only Sunday afternoon games are subject to being moved into the Sunday night window.
  • The game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday night during flex weeks will be listed at 8:15 p.m. ET.
  • The majority of games on Sundays will be listed at 1:00 p.m. ET during flex weeks except for games played in Pacific or Mountain Time zones which will be listed at 4:05 or 4:15 p.m. ET.
  • No impact on Thursday, Saturday or Monday night games.
  • The NFL will decide (after consultation with CBS, FOX, NBC) and announce as early as possible the game being played at 8:15 p.m. ET. The announcement will come no later than 12 days prior to the game. The NFL may also announce games moving to 4:05 p.m. ET and 4:25 p.m. ET.
  • Week 17 start time changes could be decided on 6 days notice to ensure a game with playoff implications.
  • The NBC Sunday night time slot in “flex” weeks will list the game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday night.
  • Fans and ticket holders must be aware that NFL games in flex weeks are subject to change 12 days in advance (6 days in Week 17) and should plan accordingly.
  • NFL schedules all games.
  • Teams will be informed as soon as they are no longer under consideration or eligible for a move to Sunday night.
