“Mike, Trip, and Drew will be key contributors to our personnel department,” said Baalke in the announcement. “Mike and Trip bring 45 years of combined experience in the NFL and Drew has over 8 years of experience directing the recruiting efforts at Power 5 universities. Mike and I worked together for the New York Jets organization from 1998-2000. He has a proven track record as a talent evaluator and will focus his attention on the evaluation and assessment of college prospects.”
Davis’ last stop was with the Kansas City Chiefs where he spent five seasons as a personnel executive. Prior to his time there, he was with the Philadelphia Eagles as their Midwest area scout (2013-14) and personnel executive the season after (2015). However, his longest tenure with a team came after his time in Kansas City as he spent 16 seasons with the New York Jets. From 1997-2004 he was an area scout, then became a national scout from 2005-07. His last five seasons with the Jets were as a director of college scouting.
This season will mark MacCracken’s 20th in the NFL though he’s been away from it since 2017. MacCracken was last with the XFL’s New York Guardians from 2019-20, however, the league shut down last April. His last tenure in the NFL was with the Chiefs as a director of football administration from 2010-17.
MacCracken’s job will mostly consist of salary cap management, much like the role John Idzik held under Dave Caldwell.
Lastly, Hughes will be coming from the college realm as he was a director of player personnel for the University of South Carolina. Before his time there he aided with recruiting at the University of Tennessee and was a director of player personnel for the Florida Gators from 2014-17. He had similar job titles with N.C. State in 2013 and the University of Central Florida in 2012 before spending time at Alabama from 2007-11 as a recruiting specialist.
Huge would know a thing or two about the NFL as he helped the league acquire 30 draft picks, 12 of which were prospects from the NFL.
The three will join director of player assessment Ryan Stamper and senior personnel executive Tom Gamble as the five newest members of the Jags’ front office who’ve been added by the new regime.
