Draymond Green weighs in on LeBron’s future with Lakers

The Golden State Warriors veteran expects LeBron James to remain with the Los Angeles Lakers.

With the Golden State Warriors season over, we’ll likely see and hear more of Draymond Green on his ‘The Draymond Green Show’ podcast, especially while the postseason is underway. As such, we can expect the veteran forward to be sharing his opinion on some of the bigger storylines in basketball, such as LeBron James’ future with the Los Angeles Lakers.

In a May 1 episode of his podcast, Green shared his thoughts on why LeBron is unlikely to leave the Lakers despite their struggles this season and their first-round exit at the hands of the Denver Nuggets.

“Some people think it’s a foregone conclusion that Bron is going back to the Lakers,” Green said. “I don’t know that it’s a foregone conclusion. I think if there was something that came about that was interesting, I think he’d look at it. But ultimately, I don’t quite see him leaving L.A.”

Where LeBron ends up playing next season could directly affect the Warriors. Despite closing in on 40, he is still one of the best players in the league. If he stays with the Lakers, they will be another hurdle for Steve Kerr’s roster to overcome.

The Warriors have some free-agency questions of their own that need answering. Klay Thompson will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer, and the front office is expected to be active in the trade market. The NBA landscape could look considerably different by the time the 2024-25 season tips off.

Draymond Green takes shot at Jusuf Nurkic after Suns get swept in first round of playoffs

The Suns center has posted a 3-17 record in 20 career playoff games.

During the Golden State Warriors’ 119-116 loss to the Phoenix Suns, Draymond Green was ejected from the contest. Green hit Jusuf Nurkic’s head while battling for position resulting in a flagrant two foul and an ejection.

After the game, Nurkic famously said, “I hope that brother gets the help he needs.” Since their incident in December, Nurkic and Green have had a back-and-forth battle throughout the season, with each player taking shots at each other on social media.

Fast forward to the playoffs, after the Suns were swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round, Green didn’t waste any time taking a shot at Nurkic.

Green shared a graphic of Nurkic’s historically bad playoff winning percentage with the same line the Suns center used in his postgame press conference in December.

Via @TheWarriorsTalk on Twitter:

In 20 career playoff games, Nurkic has posted a 3-17 record.

Along with his social media shot, Green called Nurkic “The Big Softie,” on his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show.”

During the Timberwolves’ four-game sweep of the Suns, Nurkic averaged 7.8 points on 50% shooting from the field with 8.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.5 blocks per contest.

Warriors could have two All-Rookie selections

The Golden State Warriors could see both Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis be named to an All-Rookie team.

Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis enjoyed stellar rookie seasons for the Golden State Warriors. Both young players experienced some time in the starting lineup. Jackson-Davis developed a reliable partnership with Draymond Green in the frontcourt. Podziemski earned the praise of Steph Curry.

During a recent interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Podziemski revealed he expects both himself and Jackson-Davis to make an All-Rookie team this year. He believes he will be a first-team selection, and Jackson-Davis should be first or second team. Both rookies made an impact on Steve Kerr’s roster.

“Every week I see NBA.com’s rookie ladder,” Podziemski said. “To see both of our names in the top-10 list is super fulfilling. But, I think in a much broader perspective, if you could re-draft, you wouldn’t take me 19 and you wouldn’t take him 57. So, we’ve made our impact. … I think we’re the best rookie duo in the league.”

Both Podziemski and Jackson-Davis project to have bright futures with the Warriors. It’s also likely they will have bigger roles within the rotation in the coming years: a jump in minutes could potentially happen next season,

It will be interesting to see if both rookies are rewarded for their strong debut seasons by being named to an All-Rookie team. Regardless of what happens, they will certainly be rewarded for their performances once the next season gets underway.

Draymond Green hints at roster changes for Warriors

Draymond Green is expecting the Golden State Warriors to make some roster changes this summer.

The Golden State Warriors will be watching the playoffs from the comfort of their own homes this year. The Sacramento Kings eliminated them from the Western Conference play-in tournament on Tuesday (April 16). As such, there are widespread expectations that Golden State will alter its roster during the offseason.

During the latest episode of the “Draymond Green Show” podcast, the veteran forward shared his belief that Golden State’s rotation will look different when the new season rolls around later this year. He accepted that changes needed to happen but stopped short of postulating what those alterations could be.

“When you’re in a situation like this, all things are on the table,” Green added. “You’d be crazy to go into it thinking ‘Oh it’s not’ or ‘I’m good.’ Like … nah, you’re not until you are. I’m looking forward to having these conversations, seeing what’s next, what the thoughts are. Kind of had a few thoughts [Wednesday] but kind of on this tight 20-minute schedule where everybody’s kind of getting through their exit interviews. So looking forward to having those conversations.”

Once the offseason officially begins, the Warriors’ primary objective will be to resolve Klay Thompson’s contract situation one way or another. His impending free agency has been a theme throughout the year and will be something everyone will undoubtedly want resolved.

Whatever other changes Golden State chooses to make will likely be based on maximizing the talent of their veteran core and younger stars, such as Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis. It will be a busy summer for Dunleavy and co., but one that has to happen if another championship is in the near future.

Warriors expected Draymond Green to remain with franchise a

Mike Dunleavy Jr. expects Draymond Green to remain with the franchise heading into next season.

Draymond Green’s season was a rollercoaster of emotions, both for him and his teammates. The Golden State Warriors veteran served two suspensions, was ejected four times, and dealt with multiple injury issues. However, he also formed a fearsome partnership with Jonathan Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins when operating as Steve Kerr’s small-ball center. He then thrived as a forward next to Trayce Jackson-Davis in a defensive-minded lineup.

When speaking to the media on Thursday (April 18), Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. noted that he expects Green to remain with the Warriors heading into next season. The veteran forward’s value to the roster continues to be irreplaceable despite his questionable antics from time to time.

“Yeah, I think in terms of having [Draymond] back, I think very, very high likelihood,” Dunleavy said. “I can’t imagine a scenario where he’s not back. Could be wrong, but, man, he’s signed up under contract, we value him, he’s a core piece of what we do. So, fully expect him to be back…I think we won over 60 percent of the games he played in this year, so you know how meaningful he is to winning, and he’ll continue to do so.”

Green signed a four-year $100 million deal last summer. He has three years remaining on that deal. Golden State likely expects him to see out the remainder of his career with the franchise, especially if he continues to impact winning at a high level.

Golden State is expected to make some changes to its rotation during the offseason. However, it would appear Green will remain off the table in any potential trade negotiations, as he still projects to be an important part of the team’s core.

Draymond Green reveals Steph Curry’s motivational 3 words after Kings loss

Draymond Green revealed Steph Curry’s words shortly after the Golden State Warriors were eliminated from the 2024 NBA playoffs.

The Golden State Warriors’ season is over. The Sacramento Kings eliminated them from the play-in tournament on Tuesday (April 16). Sacramento went on to be eliminated by the New Orleans Pelicans. However, that doesn’t change the fact the Warriors will be watching the postseason from home, rather than contending for a championship.

During a recent episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” Golden State’s veteran forward revealed that Steph Curry was defiant in the locker room following their elimination. Green recalled the three words the veteran sharpshooter told him as they began to prepare for a difficult summer.

“Right after the game, in the Kings’ locker room, I said, ‘I love you bro.’ He was like ‘I love you too, bro. We ain’t done,'” Green revealed. “You right. Got it. Noted. Cool, we in. You right.’ So to think that we’ve done these things, I love it — And we’re not done.”

There will be a significant amount of speculation surrounding the Warriors during the offseason. Questions linger over the veteran core, most notably the future of Klay Thompson.

Nevertheless, Curry and Co. will likely be eager to get back to work, so that they can put this difficult season behind them and begin building toward a potential championship run in 2025. As the veteran superstar said, the Warriors ‘ain’t’ done.

Draymond Green opens up on interesting season

Draymond Green wants to channel his growth from this season and get better because of it.

Draymond Green endured a difficult season with the Golden State Warriors.

He served two suspensions. He dealt with multiple injuries. And he was ejected from games on four occasions. Yet, as the season heated up, Green emerged as a core piece of the Warriors’ defensive foundation, forming an impressive partnership with rookie big man Trayce Jackson-Davis.

When speaking to the media on Wednesday, Green discussed the his eventful season.

“Interesting,” Green said. “Very interesting. But it was fun. I always enjoy playing basketball. Going to war with those guys in that locker room each and every night made everything that I went through personally worth it. … I always want to take the good with the bad. I’m not a front-runner. I don’t only show up when it’s good, I show up even more when it’s bad. … The bumps in the road along the way, that sucked. … I think I grew a lot. You can take that growth, channel it, find other ways to grow, get better and keep pushing forward.”

Green has another three years remaining on the four-year $100 million deal he signed with Golden State last summer. He showed no signs of slowing on the court this season. He is still among the best basketball minds in the league.

Nevertheless, Green will undoubtedly want to avoid the limelight next season. If he can remain available and bring the same defensive energy we saw from him to end the season, his presence will continue to elevate the Warriors the way it has throughout his career in the Bay Area.

Steve Kerr still believes in Warriors veteran core

Steve Kerr believes Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are still good enough to lead the Warriors to another championship.

The Golden State Warriors will watch the 2024 NBA playoffs from home.

The Sacramento Kings eliminated the four-time champions from the play-in tournament on Tuesday. The deflating ending put an exclamation mark on a difficult season in which the Warriors dealt with inconsistency, injuries and suspensions.

Nevertheless, head coach Steve Kerr still believes his veteran core can win another championship. Speaking to the media following his team’s loss, he shared his faith in Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. He noted all three of the veterans are still highly talented individuals.

“I believe they can,” Kerr said when asked if the core could make another championship run. “These guys are all still really good players. Hopefully, we can re-sign Klay. Draymond and Steph are all under contract. So, we’re gonna roll it back next year.”

Golden State’s front office will have its hands full this summer. In recent years, it has been straddling two timelines. The Warriors’ younger contingent of players has impressed. Figuring out how to appeal to different age groups is clearly proving to be a tough task for Kerr and his coaching staff.

If the Warriors decide to run it back next season, they will need to improve the supporting cast. With months until the start of free agency, Golden State’s front office will have plenty of time to plan how it wants to move forward.

Steph Curry never sees himself not playing with Green and Thompson

Steph Curry can’t envision not sharing the court with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green for the Golden State Warriors.

The 2024 NBA playoffs will not feature Steph Curry. The veteran superstar and his Golden State Warriors teammates were eliminated from the play-in tournament by the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday.

The defeat ended an inconsistent season that raised multiple questions regarding the direction of the franchise.

Klay Thompson will head into unrestricted free agency, and Steve Kerr is expecting some changes. However, when speaking to the media after the game, Curry noted he can’t envision not playing alongside Thompson and Draymond Green. Nevertheless, Curry’s primary focus is on winning.

“I can never see myself not with those two guys,” Curry said. “I understand this league changes and there’s so many things that go into it. We’re not going to play forever. We’ve experienced so much together. At the end of the day, I know they wanna win, I know I wanna win. … This is unfamiliar territory, I just wanna win. Whatever that means, I wanna win.”

Despite his season coming to a close, Curry can hold his head high. The 36-year-old averaged 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists on 45% shooting from the field and 40.8% shooting from 3-point range. Even at this late stage of his career, he’s still the best shooter in the NBA.

The Warriors front office will have tough decisions to make during the summer. Thompson’s future will be at the top of the list. Nevertheless, with Curry and the Warriors core aging, time is running out to put them in a position to challenge for their fifth championship.
