Broncos’ updated order of picks for 2024 NFL draft

The Broncos currently hold six picks in the 2024 NFL draft, including a first-round pick.

The Denver Broncos currently hold six picks in the 2024 NFL draft, and they are on pace to secure a top-two pick after an 0-3 start.

Here’s an updated look at the team’s current order of picks for next April.

(The team’s second-round pick was sent to the Saints earlier this year as part of the Sean Payton trade.)

Round 1: own pick
Round 3: own or via Saints* (Sean Payton trade)
Round 4: own or via Dolphins** (Bradley Chubb trade)
Round 5: own pick
Round 5: via Jets (Jacob Martin trade)
Round 7: own or via Rams*** (Kenny Young trade)

*The Broncos traded a 2024 third-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks to trade up for cornerback Riley Moss during the 2023 draft. It’s not yet known if Denver sent its original third-round pick or a third-round selection previously acquired from the Saints.

**The Broncos traded a 2024 fourth-round pick to the New York Jets in 2022 in exchange for pass rusher Jacob Martin and a 2024 fifth-round pick. It’s unclear if Denver traded its own pick or the Miami Dolphins’ pick for Martin.

***Denver acquired a seventh-round pick and Young from the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 in exchange for next year’s sixth-round pick. It’s unclear if the Broncos sent their original seventh-round pick or L.A.’s seventh-round pick to New Orleans in exchange for kicker Wil Lutz.

Clear as mud, right?

Regardless of if they end up being their original picks or the picks acquired from other teams, Denver is currently expected to have six picks in 2024 with selections in the first, third, fourth, fifth and seventh rounds.

2023 NFL draft: Updated order of Patriots’ Day 3 picks

The Patriots have an arsenal of draft picks for Day 3.

The New England Patriots are armed to the teeth with picks heading into Day 3 of the 2023 NFL draft on Saturday.

After picking up Christian Gonzalez, Keion White and Marte Mapu in the first two days, the Patriots still have nine selections on the board in the final four rounds.

Buckle up, Patriots fans.

Coach Bill Belichick, who is known for wheeling and dealing, could use some of the picks to move up on the board for a player he really likes, or he could continue trading back and stockpiling more picks for next year’s draft.

There’s also the possibility that he could stay put and make all of the selections. Perhaps this is the year where the Patriots want to throw as many darts at the board as possible and see what sticks.

Here’s how the order looks for the team on the final day of the draft:

Denver Broncos: Order of picks for 2023 NFL draft

The Broncos are scheduled to make back-to-back picks in the third round of the NFL draft.

After trading for quarterback Russell Wilson and head coach Sean Payton in consecutive offseasons, the Denver Broncos are now set to go into the 2023 NFL draft without picks in the first or second rounds.

The Broncos will have back-to-back picks early in the third round, though. Denver’s own selection will be No. 68 overall. That will be the fifth pick in the third round — the Broncos landed that spot in the draft after going 5-12 last season.

Denver also holds the pick immediately before that, No. 67 overall, that it acquired in a draft-day trade with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022. It wouldn’t be surprising to see general manager George Paton make a few trades to acquire more picks this year as well.

With the draft set to begin tonight, here’s a reminder of the Broncos’ order of picks:

Round 3: No. 67 overall via Colts (2022 draft trade)
Round 3: No. 68 overall (own selection)
Round 4: No. 108 overall (own selection)
Round 5: No. 139 overall (own selection)
Round 6: No. 195 overall via Steelers (Malik Reed trade)

Denver’s first- and second-round picks now belong to the Seattle Seahawks after the Wilson trade. The team’s original sixth-round pick was traded to the Detroit Lions as part of the Trinity Benson trade in 2021.

The Broncos’ seventh-round pick was traded to the San Franciso 49ers as part of the Jonas Griffith trade, which also happened in 2021.

The 2023 NFL draft will be held in Kansas City from April 27-29.

Full 7-round 2023 NFL draft order, including Jaguars’ 9 picks

Here is the order of every pick in the draft, from the Panthers at 1st overall to the Texans at 259th:

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in a much different place than the last two years entering the draft. After picking first overall in both 2021 and 2022, the Jaguars are set to pick 24th after making a playoff run.

That’s the first of nine selections Jacksonville is scheduled to make with two picks in the fourth round and three in the sixth.

Instead of the Jaguars, it’s the Carolina Panthers set to pick first on Thursday after trading to acquire the pick from the Chicago Bears. Here’s the full order ahead of the draft later this week:

Collectively, the Jaguars’ nine picks are worth 440 points in draft capital, according to the trade value chart developed by Rich Hill of Pats Pulpit. By the original (albeit antiquated) chart created by Jimmy Johnson, the Jaguars have 1,359.4 points.

In two drafts as the Jaguars’ general manager, Trent Baalke has brokered just three trades. All of them — including the deal to acquire another first-rounder in 2022 to pick Devin Lloyd — were trades to move up the draft order.

With no comp picks, Broncos’ order of picks for 2023 NFL draft is set

The Broncos’ order of picks for the 2023 NFL draft has been set.

The NFL announced 37 compensatory picks last week. The Denver Broncos did not receive any.

Teams receive comp picks from the NFL in rounds 3-7 after losing more than they gained in free agency the prior year.

The Broncos did not receive any comp picks, but they did help the Dallas Cowboys land one. Denver signed pass rusher Randy Gregory to a five-year, $70 million contract last spring. Dallas received a comp pick this spring for losing Gregory.

Arizona also got a comp pick for using running back Chase Edmonds to the Miami Dolphins last offseason. Edmonds was later sent to the Broncos as part of the Bradley Chubb trade, only to be cut on Friday.

As things stand now, Denver currently has five picks to use in the 2023 NFL draft. Here’s a look at the Broncos’ order of draft picks for April.

Round 3: No. 67 overall via Colts (2022 draft trade)
Round 3: No. 68 overall (own selection)
Round 4: No. 108 overall (own selection)
Round 5: No. 139 overall (own selection)
Round 6: No. 195 overall via Steelers (Malik Reed trade)

Denver could get back in the comp pick mix next year if they lose defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones this offseason and do not replace him with a player on a similar contract.

The Broncos might also consider trading a few players to acquire more picks for April’s draft. Denver receiver Courtland Sutton is among the team’s players who are believed to be potential trade candidates.

The Lions slots in the 2023 NFL draft are now finalized

The Lions’ slots in the 2023 NFL draft are now finalized after compensatory picks and a couple of forfeited slots

With the recent revelation of the compensatory picks awarded to teams for the 2023 NFL draft, we now know the exact slots in which the Detroit Lions will make their picks in April’s draft.

The Lions, as expected, did not receive any compensatory picks. Thanks to trades, Detroit holds two picks in three different rounds, but the Lions also don’t have any picks in the fourth or sixth rounds.

The slot list here is a little complicated, thanks to a couple of teams losing picks due to cheating. The Miami Dolphins were stripped of their first-round pick for tampering with Tom Brady. Just before the comp picks were announced, the Houston Texans lost a fifth-round pick due to illegally compensating Deshaun Watson during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Here are the slots the Lions will make their selections in the 2023 NFL draft, barring any trades:

First round

No. 6 overall

No. 18

Second round

No. 48

No. 55

Third round

No. 81

Fifth round

No. 152

Sixth round

No. 183

No. 194
