Here’s where Patriots would draft in 2025 after loss to Bills

The Patriots moved up the draft board after Sunday’s loss to the Bills

If the season ended today, the New England Patriots would own the second overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft, following Sunday’s 24-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

They currently only trail the New York Giants on the draft board, per Tankathon.com

The Las Vegas Raiders moved up the board after handing the Jacksonville Jaguars a Week 16 loss. Meanwhile, the Patriots dropped their 12th loss of the season on the road against the Buffalo Bills.

The Patriots were competitive against the Bills and even scored 14 unanswered points right out of the gates. On defense, they limited Bills star quarterback Josh Allen to only 154 passing yards and one touchdown. However, it was not enough to upset arguably the best team in football.

New England has two games remaining on their regular season schedule against the Los Angeles Chargers and Bills once again. The final two games will tell a lot about the direction of the Patriots’ franchise moving forward, as well as giving them a concrete draft position.

Losing in Week 15 did not help the Saints’ 2025 draft position

Losing to the Washington Commanders didn’t even come with a silver lining of a better pick in the 2025 draft. Here’s where the New Orleans Saints slot in:

The New Orleans Saints are in somewhat of an ugly position when it comes to competing for the NFC South division lead, as they sit at 5-9 with a less than one-percent chance of making the playoffs. However, the positive in most cases like this would be the notion that they may have improved their draft stock by losing in Week 15…well in this case it did not.

The Saints came into week 15 marked down for the No.10 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and after the loss, they remained in that slot which unfortunately did not improve as many of the struggling teams lost as well that week. As of the writing of this article, the current draft order goes as follows:

  1. Las Vegas Raiders (2-12)
  2. New York Giants (2-12)
  3. New England Patriots (3-11)
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-11)
  5. Carolina Panthers (3-11)
  6. Tennessee Titans (3-11)
  7. Cleveland Browns (3-11)
  8. New York Jets (4-10)
  9. Chicago Bears (4-10)
  10. New Orleans Saints (5-9)

Fortunately for the Saints, they are the only 5-9 team in the NFL right now, so a win would not immediately drop them off the map of having a decent pick still. In addition, a win from the Jets or Bears and a loss from the Saints would move them ahead, as the Saints have the tiebreaker of a lower strength of schedule, meaning they’d get preference for a better pick in a tie. We will see how these final three weeks pan out for the NFL, but the Saints could end up with a top-10 pick when all is said and done.

Here’s where Patriots would draft in 2025 after loss to Cardinals

The Patriots currently have a top-three draft pick

If the season ended today, the New England Patriots would be the No. 3 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft, per Tankathon.com.

The Patriots have lost their last four straight games, including Sunday’s 30-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, and currently sit with a 3-11 record.

The New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders are the only teams ahead of the Patriots right now. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns all sit with a 3-11 record.

A win could drastically alter where the Patriots sit in the draft pecking order, assuming the other teams continue to lose. New England has a tough three-game slate with two meetings against the Buffalo Bills and one against the Los Angeles Chargers.

It has been a tough season for the rebuilding Patriots, but a difficult upcoming schedule could lead to a better draft position for a team looking to land an impact playmaker.

Where the Saints are picking in the 2025 NFL draft after Week 14

Here is where the New Orleans Saints stand in the projected 2025 NFL draft order after Week 14’s win over the New York Giants:

After the New Orleans Saints started the season in the dumps, they have started to pick up some wins after replacing Dennis Allen. In seemingly classic Saints fashion, they don’t have a great shot at the playoffs and look destined to pick up enough wins for a fringe-top 10 draft selection.

Darren Rizzi is somehow 3-1 as the New Orleans head coach and has the team at 5-8 overall. They picked up a close win over the New York Giants this past weekend and rose up the draft order again.

The Saints could be back into tank mode for the 2025 NFL draft, though, after Derek Carr suffered a hand injury that could keep him out for the rest of the season. Either they start to lose and help their draft stock or they win and build some momentum with a young quarterback in Carr’s stead.

Here is a look at where New Orleans stands after the Week 14 victory and their full draft order projection from Tankathon:

  • Round 1, No. 10 overall
  • Round 2, No. 44 overall
  • Round 3, No. 75 overall
  • Round 3, No. 87 overall
  • Round 4, No. 111 overall
  • Round 4, No. 123 overall
  • Round 6, No. 187 overall
  • Round 7, No. 253 overall

The Saints could be looking at another drop in the draft order this weekend as they have a tough game against the Washington Commanders on Dec. 15 at Noon CT/1 p.m. ET.

Here’s where Patriots would pick in 2025 NFL draft after loss to Colts

If the season ended today, here’s where the Patriots would pick in the 2025 NFL draft

The New England Patriots moved up to the fourth overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft after Sunday’s 25-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, per Tankathon.com.

The Patriots currently have a 3-10 record on the year, while teams slotted higher than them—the New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars—all sit with a 2-10 record on the season.

The Patriots showed some promising signs in the loss to the Colts. They recorded 422 total yards of offense. However, they struggled at turning that offensive success into touchdowns.

Defensively, they weren’t able to slow down Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson. He especially hurt them on the ground, particularly during his two-point conversion score after leading the Colts offense on an 80-yard touchdown drive.

The Patriots are on a bye this week with a chance to reset before taking on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15. They’ll try to build on the positives in hopes of forging a better future for the team.

That future likely has another top draft pick in store for them in 2025.

Week 13 loss didn’t help Saints’ draft pick, but MNF’s outcome could

Losing to the Rams didn’t help the Saints’ draft pick, but Monday night’s result could. Be sure to cheer against Sean Payton and the Broncos:

Well this stings. The New Orleans Saints’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 13 didn’t even help their position in the 2025 NFL draft order. But they aren’t out of the woods yet. The Denver Broncos’ game with the Cleveland Browns on “Monday Night Football” could do a lot to help them out. All Saints fans need to do is root against Sean Payton (or for Jameis Winston).

The Saints went into their matchup with the Rams projected to pick at No. 9 overall, per Tankathon. They’re still at No. 9 after losing to LA, which put their record at 4-8. The Browns are slotted ahead of them at 3-8, and a loss to the Broncos on Monday night could keep them there.

But a win would tie Cleveland with New Orleans, both at 4-8. Their head-to-head result wouldn’t put the Saints ahead, but their lower strength of schedule (.495, at the moment) would help them against the Browns (whose SOS is .512 before this Broncos game). So if the Browns win, they would drop down behind the Saints, who would move up to the eighth overall pick.

For now. There are five more weeks left in the regular season to determine who picks where at the top of the NFL draft. The Saints aren’t mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and they showed plenty of fight in that loss to the Rams; don’t expect them to go in the tank and hope for a better draft pick. We’ll keep tracking where they rank through the weeks ahead, but know this is a fluid process.

2025 NFL Draft order is a complete mess after Week 9

2025 NFL Draft order is a complete mess after Week 9, with 7 teams tied for the No. 1 spot

If you’re someone who likes to track mock drafts, or even create your own, figuring out the 2025 NFL Draft order right now is an exercise in chaos. That’s because there is currently a 7-way tie for the top spot.

The outcomes of Week 9 left seven teams with identical 2-7 records. The current tiebreakers leave the New England Patriots in the top spot, followed by the Jacksonville Jaguars. That is subject to some very radical swings in the coming weeks, however.

The current top seven, based on the identical-record tiebreakers outlined by the NFL:
1. New England Patriots
2. Jacksonville Jaguars
3. New Orleans Saints
4. Carolina Panthers
5. Cleveland Browns
6. Las Vegas Raiders
7. New York Giants

Just to keep things interesting, the next two spots are occupied by two teams that are 2-6 after Week 9, the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans.

At No. 10 are the New York Jets, the only 3-6 team. Dallas is currently slotted at No. 11 with their 3-5 record. Then there are four teams with 4-5 records and three more at 4-4:

12. Indianapolis Colts
13. Cincinnati Bengals
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
15. Seattle Seahawks

16. Los Angeles Rams
17. San Francisco 49ers
18. Chicago Bears

That wraps the non-playoff teams. It will all change after Week 10, but for now–at the (mostly) halfway point of the season, this is how the draft order looks.

Here’s where the Patriots would draft if the season ended today

The Patriots would be sitting pretty on the draft board if the season ended today

If the season ended today, the New England Patriots would own the No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft, per Tankathon.

That obviously isn’t a great reflection of the current state of the team. They are sitting at 2-7 on the season, following Sunday’s 20-17 overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans.

The Patriots have multiple needs that could be filled with a top pick in the draft, including wide receiver, offensive tackle and defensive tackle. They could also draft another top cornerback to pair with Christian Gonzalez to create an impenetrable defensive backfield.

The Patriots would much rather be winning football games and not be the No. 1 overall pick of the draft. They finished 4-13 last season and selected quarterback Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft.

Now that they’re set at the quarterback position, their focus should be on winning football games and upgrading the talent around Maye.

Talk of tanking should be a thing of the past for New England.

Broncos’ updated order of NFL draft picks after Baron Browning trade

Following the Baron Browning trade, the Broncos now hold seven picks in the 2025 NFL draft.

After agreeing to trade pass rusher Baron Browning to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick on Monday, the Denver Broncos now hold seven picks in the 2025 NFL draft.

The Broncos have their own picks in the first four rounds for the first time since the Russell Wilson trade, and they now have three picks in the sixth round following the Browning trade.

Here’s a look at the team’s order of picks in next year’s NFL draft, with help from prosportstransactions.com.

Broncos order of picks in 2025 NFL draft

Denver does not hold a fifth-round pick after trading that pick and pass rusher Bradley Chubb to the Miami Dolphins in 2022 in exchange for running back Chase Edmonds and first- and fourth-round draft picks. (The Broncos later used that first-round pick to acquire coach Sean Payton in 2023.)

Denver also does not hold a seventh-round pick after trading that selection and tight end Albert Okwuegbunam to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023 in exchange for a sixth-round pick.

The 2025 NFL draft will be held in Green Bay from April 24-26.

Where the Saints are picking in the 2025 NFL draft after Week 8

The Saints are closer to locking in a top-5 draft pick than making the playoffs. Here’s where they are picking in the 2025 NFL draft order after Week 8:

It’s okay to look to the 2025 NFL draft for hope when the New Orleans Saints aren’t giving you reasons to cheer for their work on the field. The Saints are closer to locking in a top-five draft pick than they are to qualifying for the playoffs. After losing to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, they’re 2-6 and stuck in the longest losing streak since the 2005 season impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

But if there’s a silver lining to such a poor start, it’s the possibility of an improved outlook next season, starting with the NFL draft. If the selection event started today the Saints would be picking sixth overall. That’s a great opportunity to add an impact player at a position of need, and New Orleans clearly needs the help.

Things will change, but here’s where the Saints are slotted in after Week 8 according to the full draft order projection from Tankathon:

  • Round 1, Pick 6 (6th overall)
  • Round 2, Pick 5 (37th overall)
  • Round 3, Pick 4 (68th overall)
  • Round 4, Pick 3 (104th overall)
  • Round 5, Pick 8 (146th overall)
  • Round 7, Pick 21 (238th overall, via Washington Commanders from Atlanta Falcons)
  • Round 7, Pick 36 (253rd overall, projected compensatory for Isaac Yiadom)

Remember, the Saints traded their sixth rounder to Washington for defensive tackle John Ridgeway III this preseason, but they got a seventh-round pick back in that deal. It replaced the seventh rounder they traded to the Philadelphia Eagles a few years back with safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Washington owns multiple seventh-round draft picks but the Saints should get one of the least-valuable selections out of the bunch.

Will the Saints turn it around? That remains to be seen, but history isn’t on their side. If they keep losing, at least fans can hope for better days ahead with a top college football prospect on the horizon.
