Georgia Bulldogs DB commit reclassifies

Four-star cornerback recruit, UGA football commit reclassifies to the class of 2025

Four-star Georgia Bulldogs defensive back commitment Dominick Kelly has  reclassified from the class of 2026 to the class of 2025. Kelly has been committed to Georgia since July.

Kelly is listed at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds and plays football at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Kelly is the nation’s No. 32 cornerback and No. 35 player in Florida according to 247Sports.

Kelly’s recruitment is one to watch heading into the early signing period after he elected to reclassify. Kelly was committed to USC before he flipped to Georgia over the summer.

The four-star cornerback’s reclassification gives Georgia 25 commitments in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Georgia has the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class behind Ohio State, but the Bulldogs are looking to make a push over the next few weeks. Georgia has a few remaining targets, including five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry.

Kelly is Georgia’s second cornerback commitment in the class of 2025. Cornerback is one of UGA’s top positions of need.

Kelly is no longer a member of Georgia’s class of 2026, which is down to three commitments: wide receiver Vance Spafford, cornerback Jontavius Wyman and tight end Lincoln Keyes.

USC defense can change perceptions in 2024 football season

We talked about the ups and downs of recruiting on our recent YouTube show.

On our recent USC show at The Voice of College Football, we at Trojans Wire talked about the new age of recruiting. We stressed the need to keep the excitement of bringing aboard five-star linebackers from Georgia and live with the disappointment of losing a four-star cornerback from Florida in the 2026 class. This is in response to the Xavier Griffin recruitment and the decommitment of Dominick Kelly, a cornerback from IMG Academy. USC then landed a new cornerback from St. John Bosco. There are so many twists and turns to recruiting. One has to roll with the punches and not get too high or too low.

We discussed the multiple decommitments in the 2024 class caused by the poor performance on the field and USC’s issues with NIL.

The silver lining is that the new defensive coaching staff is going to have an opportunity to show recruits, family and coaches what it can do with D’Anton Lynn’s new approach. If the defense can change the narrative, USC’s recruiting outcomes will significantly improve.

The conversation takes place at the nine-minute mark of this video at The Voice of College Football:

Georgia flips yet another recruit from USC

After flipping five-star EDGE Isaiah Gibson a month ago, the Georgia Bulldogs have flipped another one of USC’s best recruits

After flipping five-star EDGE Isaiah Gibson a month ago and being projected to flip five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry, the Georgia Bulldogs have yet again pried away a top recruit from Southern California. Dominick Kelly, a four-star cornerback in the class of 2026, committed to Georgia on Monday, giving the Dawgs their second defensive commitment in the past three days for that cycle and adding to Kirby Smart’s list of recruiting victories over Lincoln Riley.

Kelly is listed at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, and plays at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Kelly is the nation’s 15th ranked cornerback and 34th overall player in the state of Florida according to 247Sports.

Former USC defensive backs coach Donte Williams primarily recruited Kelly. With Kelly’s commitment, Georgia now has three total commits in the class of 2026, with Kelly joining five-star quarterback Jared Curtis and three-star cornerback Jontavius Wyman. The Bulldogs’ 2026 class is currently rated fifth in the country, but it is very early on in the process.

Notre Dame football offers 2026 Florida cornerback

The Irish are looking ahead to 2026 already

Notre Dame football has gotten off to a fantastic start to its 2025 recruiting class, so they can look ahead to the 2026 cycle a bit earlier.

One of the prospects that the Irish staff liked was Florida cornerback [autotag]Dominick Kelly[/autotag], who was offered on Thursday. The 6-foot, 1-inch and 175-pound member of the secondary isn’t currently ranked, but will be soon,

Kelly’s offer list includes Georgia, Penn State, USC, Florida and others, so just reading into who has interest, he will get ranked shorty and be fairly high.

Notre Dame currently does not have any commitment for the 2026 class, but they are doing a great job of identifying talent and getting offers out to them.
