Sports fans had plenty of jokes for viral video of a dog tackling a kid at an Easter egg hunt

Clean hit?

With the coronavirus pandemic bringing the sports world to a complete halt, plenty of fans are starved for anything that could be mildly considered sports (well, except for the NBA HORSE Challenge).

But we’re in luck (sort of) because the NFL Draft is scheduled for next week, which means that football fans are absolutely in the mood to break down game film. I’m pretty sure that’s all our Steven Ruiz has been doing for the past 30 days.

Anyway, with that in mind, this video of a dog absolutely leveling some kid at an Easter egg hunt couldn’t have hit Twitter at a better time.

The video, which had two angles (!!!), showed some young kid joyously running along before a dog entered the frame to make a vicious tackle. But was the hit clean?

Sports fans had plenty of jokes and analysis for this All-Pro Defensive Dog’s tackle.

Nicely done, internet.

It looked like a clean hit to me. The kid needs to keep that head on a swivel, though.

But seriously, let’s hope he’s OK (which seems likely considering someone posted a two-angle video of the hit).

This good dog could be a first round pick in the NFL draft

This dog is actually a shutdown corner.

If there were ever some sort of Olympic games that had animals competing against people, the people would get absolutely destroyed.

Case in point: This good dog that absolutely locks down his human on TikTok for the whole world to see. It looks like it should be a first round pick in this month’s NFL draft.

I mean, this dog easily looks like he would’ve been one of the best cornerbacks in college football last season. This is absolutely shut down stuff.

Deion Sanders would be so proud of this good boy. He deserves a treat and a belly rub.

The dog is not even trying. He gets beat off of the line of scrimmage but that’s ok. He stays solid, flips his doggy hips and recovers on his way up the field.

His human is running full speed up the field and but our good boy is barely even breaking out a trot. He catches up and knocks the ball loose as soon as it hits his human’s hands. ELITE.

It’s not illegal to sign a dog, right? Right. As one of the two resident Eagles fans on the For The Win staff, my team could definitely use him.

Good dogs competing for a chew toy is the newest must-watch quarantine sport

The announcer is what makes this video so good.

Listen, I’m not going to pretend this video is anything other than what it is: Two dogs sitting down next to one another, with one dog eyeing the other’s chew toy.

But the commentary, soothing and intelligent, funny and spot on, makes the whole thing. One of those videos you need the sound on.

Will this video make you smarter, or offer you a more enriching view of the world? Probably not. It’s dogs competing slowly for a chew toy. But listen, we all need ways to get through the day, and this is as good a way as any.

A bunch of NCAA dog mascots got on a Zoom call together and it was just spectacular

Look at all these dogs.

Being quarantined has mostly sucked. But one of the more fun things to come out of it is people doing virtual happy hours through video calls with their friends.

Here comes the plot twist. These Happy Hours are not just limited to people. The dogs are involved now, too. Seriously.

Bryant Tupper, the Bryant Athletics bulldog mascot, invited a bunch of other canine college mascots to a video chat and, quite honestly, it might be the most adorable thing that you’ve seen in the last month. It’s hard to think of anything better.

You just want to pet every single one of them.

Look at all those good dogs practicing social distancing. Give them each a treat. And a belly rub. They deserve that and more. This is amazing.

My only question is whether we can get more mascots in on this. Because somebody needs to get Mike the Tiger on the line ASAP.

People (including an Orioles pitcher) have resorted to doing squats while holding their dogs

Leg Day with a canine!

The latest workout trend while people are stuck at home with no gym to go to as social distancing continues during the coronavirus pandemic?

Dog lifting!

Squatting canines was a big trend back in 2017, and now it’s exploded again with lifters needing something heavy to do with their workouts, which have included pushup challenges and keeping a medicine ball in the air.

Baltimore Orioles pitcher Branden Kline has joined in on the act by picking up what looks like a Labrador retriever and doing some serious Leg Day lifting. I don’t speak dog, but it looks like he’s a little surprised at what’s going on:

Here are some other people doing the same:

Adorable rescue dog Kratu is back, fails spectacularly at agility course for third straight year

The best dog.

Time to say a fond farewell to Kratu, the adorable rescue dog who has stolen so many hearts in the past three years by being himself and completely ignoring the agility course at Crufts, the annual dog show in England.

Kratu, you see, is retiring from agility after 2020, so he did one more run that was once again filled with errors, including picking up a pole that was supposed to be something he jumped over.

You’re a delight, Kratu. Never change, even in retirement, and thanks for all the memories.

Here’s the run from over the weekend, with a great call from the booth:

Here’s the 2019 run:

And his 2018 run:
