LSU’s Luke Holman wins NCBWA National Player of the Month Award

LSU’s new ace of its rotation, [autotag]Luke Holman[/autotag], has added another accolade to his short LSU career. Holman was recently named as one of the [autotag]Dick Howser Trophy Players of the Month[/autotag].

The season is just getting started so Holman only made two starts in February, but he made those two starts count. Holman pitched 12.1 innings in two games and allowed zero runs on five hits while striking out 18 hitters and only walking one. The two starts came against Central Arkansas and Northern Illinois.

LSU beat UCA 2-0 and beat NIU 5-2.

Those stats helped him join Georgia’s [autotag]Charlie Condon[/autotag] as one of the National Players of the Month. Holman was the pitcher of the month and Condon was the hitter of the month.

Holman carried those strong starts into March as he got a start against the Texas Longhorns at the Astros Foundation Classic last Friday night and he shut Texas down. He has proven he is the ace of this team this Spring.
