Ravens release second injury report for Week 9 matchup vs. Saints

The Baltimore Ravens released their second injury report before Week 9

The Baltimore Ravens the second injury report in preparation for their Monday night game in New Orleans against the Saints.  The Ravens are 5-3 on the season while the Saints are 3-5.  It was announced that second-year receiver Rashod Bateman would be out for the rest of the season to undergo surgery on his foot.

The report for Friday remains almost the same as the first injury report, with wide receiver Demarcus Robinson as the newest member added, being limited in practice with a groin injury.  The receiving group will need everyone to step up with the absence of Bateman and possibly being without tight end Mark Andrews as well.

It’s more than likely that newly signed receiver DeSean Jackson will be active on Monday night.  He will add another deep threat for the offense that will be in need of the receivers to help quarterback Lamar Jackson.  The receivers as a whole have the second fewest yards in the NFL, so they need to step up in a big way.

Kirk Cousins’ top 10 performances with Washington

Kirk Cousins returns to FedEx Field this weekend. We look back at the top 10 performances from his six seasons in Washington.

Kirk Cousins is a divisive figure in Washington. A fourth-round pick in the 2012 NFL draft, Cousins immediately began his career in the shadow of the No. 2 overall pick from the same draft, Robert Griffin III.

While Griffin had an electric rookie year, it was all downhill for him after injuring his knee in a home playoff game in Jan. 2013. His career in Washington — or the NFL — would never be the same.

Enter Cousins.

After bouncing in and out of the lineup throughout his first three seasons, head coach Jay Gruden named Cousins the permanent starter ahead of the 2015 season, and his career took off.

Cousins returns to FedEx Field this weekend for the first time since leaving as a free agent after the 2017 season, signing with the Minnesota Vikings.

We aren’t going to get into why Cousins left. Instead, we look back at Cousins’ top 10 performances in the burgundy and gold.

LOOK: Ryan Fitzpatrick brings back the DeSean Jackson fit for Bucs-Ravens

With DeSean Jackson in the house for Thursday night’s game, “Fitz-Magic” had to bring back the look

It was 2018, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had just become the first quarterback in NFL history to open a regular season with back-to-back games of 400 yards and four touchdowns through the air.

DeSean Jackson, then a wide receiver for the Bucs, enjoyed his share of the spoil, including a 75-yard touchdown pass from “Fitz-Magic” on the first play of the game as the Bucs upset the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Fitzpatrick showed up to his postgame press conference wearing Jackson’s outfit, an image forever burned into the NFL history books.

Fitz and Jackson are both back at Raymond James Stadium on Thursday night, but not as teammates. Jackson is playing for the Baltimore Ravens, who face the Bucs, while Fitzpatrick is part of the on-screen team bringing the game to the masses on Amazon Prime.

And you know Fitzpatrick couldn’t resist the urge to bring back the look:

Iconic.

Ravens reportedly sign WR DeSean Jackson on Tuesday following visit

The Ravens reportedly signed wide receiver DeSean Jackson following a visit on Tuesday

The Baltimore Ravens have seen wide receiver Rashod Bateman miss multiple games with a foot injury. As a result, the team’s depth at wideout has been tested, and the results haven’t been encouraging.

On Monday, it was reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN that Baltimore was bringing in veteran wide receiver DeSean Jackson for a visit. Just one day later, it’s been reported by multiple outlets that the Ravens are in agreement on a deal with Jackson, and he’ll join the team in hopes of resurrecting his career by providing big plays using what’s left of his speed and playmaking ability.

Jackson is entering his 15th NFL season, and Baltimore hopes he still has plenty left in the tank to provide. The big-play threat has totaled 632 catches for 11,110 yards and 58 touchdowns, making many highlight as well as electric plays.

NFL fans were convinced that Ravens’ Rashod Bateman wasn’t happy with addition of DeSean Jackson

The Ravens might have themselves some receiver drama!

Through six games, it’d be hard to argue that the Ravens are one of the NFL’s unluckier teams. In each of its three losses to this point, Baltimore has held a 10-point lead at some stage of the second half. Much of it might be due to Lamar Jackson’s dearth of reliable targets, as Mark Andrews seems to be the only weapon he can consistently lean on.

To somewhat address this issue, the Ravens signed long-time veteran speedster DeSean Jackson on Tuesday. For promising young receiver Rashod Bateman — who has missed the last two games with a foot injury — it seems the former first-round pick playmaker isn’t happy with the addition of the 35-year-old Jackson to the Ravens’ WR corps.

At least, that’s what NFL fans thought when Bateman sent a cryptic tweet not long (less than 50 minutes!) after the announcement of Jackson’s signing. Given the timing (and general lack of elaboration) — it seemed to be Bateman’s immediate reaction:

It’s unclear why Bateman would be potentially displeased with another wideout joining Baltimore. Though, to theorize, he is currently just third in targets in the Ravens’ pecking order (behind Andrews and Devin Duvernay). So, it might be that Bateman’s unhappy he could see the ball less in his return.

If that’s why Bateman doesn’t appreciate Jackson’s signing, the Ravens might have some brewing inner dysfunction to contend with. Plus, this kind of situation would likely hamstring part of the team’s efforts to establish a measure of positive consistency in the coming weeks.

A frustrating season in Baltimore grows ever stranger.

DeSean Jackson says he’s not done and is interested in a reunion with the Eagles

DeSean Jackson told the I Am Athlete Podcast that he intends to play in 2022 and listed the Philadelphia Eagles as the top team on his list.

The Eagles are 5-0 with a matchup against the Cowboys looming, but one former Philadelphia star is looking to return to where it all started.

DeSean Jackson was a member of the I Am Athlete Podcast on Thursday night.

As Brandon Marshall and Pacman Jones preview the showdown at Lincoln Financial Field, the former Eagles second-round pick talked about another return to Philadelphia.

With preparation for the Lions underway, here’s a recap of every season opener since 2010.

Jake Paul launches sports betting and media company Betr: ‘The TikTok-ification of sports betting’

Travis Scott and Ezekiel Elliott are just a couple of Betr’s many investors.

Jake Paul, the YouTuber turned boxer, announced Monday the launch of his new sports betting company, Betr. Founded by Paul and sports betting entrepreneur Joey Levy, Betr is touted as the first direct-to-consumer sports betting company with a focus on micro-betting.

A company press release, explains micro-betting as “a new form of betting that introduces instant gratification to the sports betting user experience by enabling the moments that drive U.S. sports consumption – such as pitches & at-bats of baseball games and plays & drives of football games – to become discrete betting opportunities.”

In addition to betting, Betr will also dive into sports media and content creation.

Betr has raised $50 million in funding from investors, including rapper Travis Scott, NFL running back Ezekiel Elliott and wide receiver Braxton Berrios, former players Richard Sherman and Dez Bryant and the co-owners of the 49ers, Celtics and Marlins to name a few.

“I wasn’t into sports betting until I was introduced to micro-betting,” Paul said in the release. “Micro-betting is the TikTok-ification of sports betting and I am excited to bring it to the masses through Betr.”

DeSean Jackson got a Super Bowl ring from the Rams

DeSean Jackson’s time with the Rams was brief, but he still got a Super Bowl ring like his former teammates

There was a lot of excitement about DeSean Jackson signing with the Rams last offseason, and early on, it looked like it was going to be a perfect match. He lit it up in training camp, building a good connection with Matthew Stafford and in Week 3 against the Bucs, he caught three passes for 120 yards and a touchdown.

But his time with the Rams ended abruptly when he requested a trade seven games in and was subsequently cut when Los Angeles couldn’t find a trade partner.

Yet, even though he played more games with the Raiders (9) than he did with the Rams (7), he still got a Super Bowl ring from the Rams. He shared a photo of the ring on Instagram, a nice gesture by the organization to make him part of the championship celebration.

The Rams received their rings in a private ceremony on Thursday night.

In seven games with the Rams, Jackson caught eight passes for 221 yards and a touchdown. Stafford missed him a couple of times after he beat the defense deep, but overall, the pairing simply didn’t work as expected.

Sean McVay took the blame for not finding ways to integrate Jackson more, but the Rams had Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Van Jefferson, so it was difficult to get him the ball often.
