Another Michigan State commit in the 2025 class will be at Spartan Dawg Con later this month.

Three-star defensive lineman Derrick Simmons of Frankenmuth, Mich. announced on Thursday that he plans on attending the annual Spartan Dawg Con event on July 27. The event is held to highlight the program, which incorporates recruits, current players, coaches, and former players and coaches.

Simmons ranks as the No. 57 defensive lineman in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2025 class. He’s also listed as the No. 9 player from Michigan and No. 535 overall prospect in the class.

Simmons committed to Michigan State last month. He choose the Spartans over notable offers from Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern and Cincinnati.

Another day, another defensive lineman commit for Michigan State football. About 24 hours after the Spartans received the commitment of Cal Thrush, the Spartans picked up a commitment from Derrick Simmons, a 2025 3-star defensive lineman from Frankenmuth, Michigan.

Simmons is the No. 9 ranked player in the state by 247Sports and picked the Spartans over programs like Illinois, Purdue, Cincinnati and Northwestern.

Michigan State football is “for sure a leader” in the battle for a top 10 in-state prospect in the 2025 class.

Derrick Simmons of Frankenmuth, Mich. took an official visit to Michigan State this past weekend and it apparently went well. Allen Trieu of 247Sports wrote an article following the visit that states the Spartans are a leader for Simmons’ commitment.

Simmons ranks as the No. 61 defensive lineman in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2025 class. He’s also listed as the No. 9 player from Michigan in the class.

Michigan State is one of 11 schools to offer Simmons, according to 247Sports. Other notable programs to offer Simmons includes Cincinnati, Illinois, Purdue and Northwestern.

An in-state three-star defensive lineman will reportedly take an official visit to Michigan State in a few weeks.

Derrick Simmons of Frankenmuth, Mich. will reportedly visit Michigan State on June 14. Allen Trieu of 247Sports reported the notable recruiting news.

Simmons is a three-star defensive lineman in the 2025 class and ranked as the No. 17 player from Michigan in the class. He’s also listed as the No. 83 defensive lineman nationally in the class.

Michigan State is one of more than 10 programs to extend an offer to Simmons, according to 247Sports. He also holds notable offers from Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern, Cincinnati, Boston College and Vanderbilt.

Michigan State is one of 10 schools to offer Simmons, according to 247Sports. Other notable programs to offer Simmons includes Boston College, Cincinnati, Illinois, Purdue and Vanderbilt.
