Prediction

Nuggets 116, Knicks 109

Moneyline (ML)

Both teams enter on a two-game win streak, but for the Knicks (+450), it’s just the first time all season they’ve won consecutive games. The two victories — both on the road — were decided by narrow margins, beating the Golden State Warriors 124-122 in overtime Wednesday and topping the Sacramento Kings 103-101 Friday. They’re now 3-10 on the road for the season as they wrap a three-game Western Conference swing.

The Nuggets (-625) would be the play if it weren’t for the cost-prohibitive odds which return a profit of just $1.60 on a $10 bet for the outright win. The bet to make will be the spread.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The KNICKS (+10.5, -106) should be backed when spotted double-digit points. While the Nuggets are 10-3 at home for the season, they’re 5-5 over their last 10 games. They had lost three in a row on the road before starting their five-game homestand 2-0. New York is 13-13 against the spread overall and 7-6 on the road. Denver is 11-11 overall and 7-6 at home.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Knicks to stay within 10 points in a loss or win outright would return a profit of $9.43.

Over/Under (O/U)

While the Nuggets are without a key scorer in Millsap, they’re more likely to miss him on the defensive end in the second half of the back-to-back. Take the OVER 206.5 (-129). The two teams have hit the Under more than any other squad in the NBA, with the Nuggets falling an average of 5 points below the projected totals.

The Knicks will be able to put up points against the tired, and shorthanded, Nuggets. Denver will be able to do enough on offense against a New York side allowing 111.2 points per game.

Slow start sinks Oklahoma City against Nuggets

Denver got out to a 22-6 lead in Saturday night’s 110-102 win over the Thunder. Nicola Jokic notched his fourth triple-double of the year.

Oklahoma City got off to a slow start on Saturday night in Denver and could never fully recover, as they fell 110-102 to the Nuggets.

Nicola Jokic notched his 36th career triple-double, scoring a game-high 28 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and dishing out 12 assists. It was his fourth triple-double of the season.

Denver started the game on a 22-6 run before Oklahoma City turned the tide. OKC outscored the Nuggets 14-5 over the final 5:46 of the first quarter to get the game back within seven.

A three-point Denver lead at the half swelled to as many as 13 in the third quarter, where once against Oklahoma City was outscored, this time 30-19.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sank a jumper with 6:50 left in the game to cut the deficit to five, but Denver ran off nine straight points to put the game out of reach.

Dennis Schröder came off the bench to lead the team with 22 points. Steven Adams had 18 points while Gilgeous-Alexander scored 16. Chris Paul also tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists.

Oklahoma City was once again with Terrance Ferguson, who missed his fifth straight game with right hip soreness.

With the loss, the Thunder end their road trip 2-2 and fall to 4-9 on the road and 11-14 overall.

Oklahoma City is back in action when they host Chicago on Monday inside Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Terrance Ferguson still out with hip soreness, no timetable for return

Terrance Ferguson is out against the Denver Nuggets. The Oklahoma City wing has missed five straight games with right hip soreness.

Terrance Ferguson is still not back in the lineup for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Ferguson, who is not playing Saturday night against the Denver Nuggets, is continuing to struggle with right hip soreness.

Billy Donovan announced the decision to hold Ferguson out against Denver following the Thunder’s practice on Friday afternoon. According to Maddie Lee of The Oklahoman, Donovan said at the time that the third-year wing was “making some good progress”.

Donovan provided another update on Ferguson’s status prior to tip-off on Saturday evening.

“He’s able to run, cut, workout and do those things. I think the biggest challenge for him is you don’t want him to have a setback. He’s obviously been out for five games so you want to be very careful when you bring him back that he’s not in the position that he ends up reaggravating it, and then all of a sudden, it gets extended into two weeks when it didn’t need to be.”

However, Donovan told Lee that he doesn’t know when Ferguson will be able to return.

“He’s progressing really, really well. He’s on the court. He’s shooting, he’s running, he’s doing lateral things. So I don’t know when it will be, but I think everyone that’s been working with him feels really good about where he’s at right now.”

According to Donovan, Ferguson still has yet to participate in any contact drills.

Ferguson has missed the entirety of the Thunder’s current road trip, although he did travel with the team.

Ferguson’s absence, coupled with Hamidou Diallo’s injury, has allowed Abdel Nader to see additional time. Nader had started four straight games coming into Saturday and was again in the starting lineup against the Nuggets.

Trail Blazers at Nuggets: Key injuries

Trail Blazers: SG/SF Rodney Hood (Achilles) suffered a ruptured Achilles’ tendon during a game on Friday and he is done for the season, a tough blow for a team already shorthanded in the frontcourt with PF Zach Collins (shoulder) out until March and C Jusuf Nurkic (leg) still months away from a return.

Nuggets: SG/SF Jamal Murray (trunk contusion) is expected to be able to play, while PF Paul Millsap (foot) isn’t as much of a certainty.

Prediction

Nuggets 118, Trail Blazers 107

Moneyline (ML)

The Nuggets (-250) come with a steep price on the moneyline, and they’re not worth the risk with only a $4 return on a $10 bet to win outright.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The NUGGETS (-6.5, -105) are nearly even money if you’re willing to lay the points, and you should. The last time these teams met in Portland Oct. 23, it was Denver coming away with a 108-100 win.

Fast forward to Thursday … the Blazers are just 3-7 ATS in their past 10 road games and 1-4 ATS in the past five as underdogs. While the Nuggets are 1-4-1 ATS in their past six overall, they’re 4-1 ATS in the past five against losing sides. The boys from Rip City are just 4-10-1 ATS in the past 15 meetings with the Nuggs, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 213.5 (-115) has cashed in nine of the past 12 meetings, but go lightly until it is determined whether or not the Blue Arrow (a.k.a. Murray) is able to play.

Prediction

76ers 103, Nuggets 94

Moneyline (ML)

The 76ERS (-182) enter play Tuesday with back-to-back wins, having beaten the Cleveland Cavaliers 141-94 and the Toronto Raptors 110-104 – both games were on home court. The Nuggets are losers of two straight, dropping road games against the Boston Celtics (108-95) and Brooklyn Nets (105-102). Back the home team.

The Sixers are 8-2 over their last 10 games and 12-0 at home for the season. The Nuggets are 6-4 across their last 10 outings, and they’re 6-4 on the road. They’ll return home for a five-game homestand starting Thursday. The Nuggets allow a league-low 101.9 points per game to the opposition while outscoring opponents by an average of 4.6 PPG. The Sixers outscore their opponents by 6.2 PPG while leaning on an offense averaging 110.2 PPG.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the 76ers to win outright returns a profit of $5.49.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The SIXERS (-3.5, -115) are just 11-12 ATS overall, but they’re 7-5 at home. The Nuggets are 9-11 ATS overall and 4-5 on the road. Thirteen of Philly’s 17 wins have been by margins of at least four points, while three of Denver’s seven losses were by margins of four or more points.

A $10 bet on Philly to win by at least 4 points will return a profit of $8.70.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Nuggets have the best Under record in the NBA at 6-15 while falling an average of five points per game short of the projections. The 76ers are 10-13-1 against the projected totals and fall 0.9 points per game shy. Take the UNDER 206.5 (+105) while relying on the Nuggets defense and expecting a slower game. Both teams rank in the bottom half of the Association by pace (possessions per game).

Nets outlast Nuggets in 105-102 finish

Spencer Dinwiddie and Jarrett Allen were lights out in Brooklyn’s win over the Nuggets on Sunday.

Not only did Brooklyn knock off one of the top teams in the Western Conference on Sunday, the Nets were also tested every step of the way in their 105-102 win over the Denver Nuggets.

Taurean Prince has a low-scoring night, but he helped chip in for the Nets when they needed it most, scoring seven of his nine points in the fourth quarter.

Spencer Dinwiddie scored four of Brooklyn’s final eight points of the game — his final basket being the game-winner. The point guard led Brooklyn throughout the night, scoring 24 points on an efficient 10-for-17 shooting. He also dished out a team-high eight assists and grabbed four rebounds.

Another game, another double-double for Jarrett Allen. This time he scored 19 and grabbed 11 boards.

Garrett Temple scored 15 points and Joe Harris finished with 13.

Leading from tip to buzzer, Boston Celtics beat Denver Nuggets 108-95

Leading from start to finish, the Boston Celtics got revenge for their November loss in the Mile High City.

The Boston Celtics’ dynamic duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum helped serve up an ice-cold dish of revenge Friday night, handily defeating the Denver Nuggets at TD Garden 108-95.

Leading wire-to-wire, Boston quickly jumped out in front with the first two buckets of the first quarter and never looked back, intent on paying back the Mile-High City’s franchise in dramatic fashion.

The Celtics were led by Tatum’s 26-point, 7 board and 5 assist night and Brown’s 21 points and 7 rebounds.

The Jay Team were complimented by 19 points from former UConn standout Kemba Walker, while the team managed to hold the Nuggets to just 5-of-30 from beyond the arc while hitting 37.1 % of their own shots from deep and 53.7 % overall.

Denver’s Nikola Jokic had an exceptional night, logging 30 points and 10 boards, but only teammate Jamal Murray managed to break the double-digit scoring mark for Denver with 10 on the night.

Despite the season-high from the Nuggets’ All-NBA center, Boston threatened to blow the game open midway through the second frame before Denver cut the lead down to 53-45 at the half.

The Nuggets couldn’t build on that momentum coming into the third, and a series of floaters by swingman Tatum pushed the lead as high as 23 in the game’s final frame before Denver cut it to a respectable range against Boston’s deep rotation.

The Celtics’ defensive whirlwind, Marcus Smart, made a return to action after sitting a game to recover from illness and previously injured obliques re-aggravated in Sunday’s win against the New York Knicks.

The Flower Mound native scored 9 points over 28 minutes as he eased his way back into his game, helping the Celtics win their third game in a row and their sixth of the last ten.

Boston next faces the 5-16 Cleveland Cavaliers at home on Monday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 pm ET.

Nets’ matchups vs. Hornets should warrant same result as November meeting

The Brooklyn Nets can’t afford to drop either of their upcoming games against the Charlotte Hornets.

On Sunday, the Nets have to face the always challenging Denver Nuggets. But Brooklyn has one more matchup before taking on Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic again: the Charlotte Hornets.

Actually, oddly enough, the game against Denver is sandwiched between a pair of games against Charlotte, first on the road, then back at Barclays Center on Wednesday (December 11).

As the Nets try to stay over .500 after their slow start to 2019-20, they have to take both of these games. The close proximity of the matchups does make things more challenging, but Brooklyn has to find a way to win both games against the Hornets. They truly can’t afford to take the night off in either game.

Now, an added emphasis on winning these games isn’t because the Hornets are inclined to steal a game or two. Of course, any win is helpful, but the issue is Brooklyn has a tough slate ahead.

In addition to Denver, the Nets visit the Toronto Raptors, then host the Philadelphia 76ers. Then, after four winnable games, the Nets face six playoff-caliber teams over the span of seven games, including the Houston Rockets and Miami Heat.

Knocking off lesser opponents is always a must, but when there’s a daunting stretch on the horizon, good teams always take advantage of the weak spots in their schedule — which is exactly what both games against the Hornets are for the Nets.

Prediction

Nuggets 109, Celtics 103

Moneyline (ML)

The Celtics are coming off a 112-93 win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday. They’ve won their last two games and six of their last 10 as they enter Friday in second place in the Eastern Conference. The Nuggets beat the Knicks 129-92 in New York on Thursday and suit up for their second back-to-back of the season. They lost the second half of their first one in late October, losing 109-106 on home court to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 2.

Still, the NUGGETS (+135) are the play as road dogs. No starter played more than 25 minutes in Thursday’s blowout victory and they’re better rested than most would assume for a back-to-back situation. Denver allows just 101.4 points per game to the opposition while Boston gives up 103.9 and is likely without a key defender in Smart.

Against the Spread (ATS)

Stick with the moneyline rather than taking a lesser payout to back the Nuggets on the spread (+2.5, +105). They haven’t lost a game by fewer than three points this season, and I like their chances of winning outright, anyway.

Denver is 9-9 ATS overall and 4-3-1 on the road. Boston is 12-6 overall and 5-2-1 at home.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on the Nuggets to win outright returns a profit of $13.50, while the same bet on the spread fetches a profit of $10.50, with just two points of insurance in the event of a loss.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total of 206.5 is the lowest on Friday’s slate. As noted above, the Nuggets were able to rest their starters for much of the fourth quarter against the Knicks so the likes of C Nikola Jokic, PG Jamal Murray and SG Will Barton should be largely unaffected Friday. Take the OVER (+105).

Prediction

Nuggets 110, Knicks 98

Moneyline (ML)

The Nuggets have won seven of their last 10 games and are 5-2 on the road this season. The Knicks are only 3-8 at home. Denver has lost two games in a row but New York has lost seven straight. Denver is a chalky -358 Thursday night, but there’s very little risk. Back DENVER with confidence.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Denver to win outright would profit $2.79.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Nuggets are 3-3-1 and come in 1.1 points per game below the cover line. New York is 5-6 at home against the spread and comes in 3.5 points per game below the cover line.

The line opened at 8.5 points. Slight lean toward DENVER (-8.5, -106) to win by nine or more points. It delivers a $9.43 profit on a $10 wager.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 202.5 (Over: -115, Under: -106). Denver averages 106.1 points per game and New York allows 110.4 per contest. These are two of the lowest-paced teams, with Denver ranked 29th at 97.7 possessions per game and New York 26th at 98.1. Take the OVER (-115) with a small wager.
