UFC Fight Night 232 post-event facts: Brendan Allen on an all-time submission streak

Check out all the facts from UFC Fight Night 232, which saw Brendan Allen put him name in the books with Royce Gracie and Demian Maia.

The UFC closed its November schedule on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 232, which took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and saw 10 of 14 fights end in a stoppage.

One of those finishes belonged to main event winner [autotag]Brendan Allen[/autotag] (23-5 MMA, 11-2 UFC), who submitted [autotag]Paul Craig[/autotag] (17-7-1 MMA, 9-7-1 UFC) with a rear-naked choke in the third round of their middleweight clash, extending his winning streak to six and putting him in the discussion among the more serious contenders in the weight class.

UFC Fight Night 232 Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay: Top earners get $16,000

UFC Fight Night 232 fighters took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay, a program that continued after the UFC’s deal with Venum.

LAS VEGAS – Fighters from Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 232 event took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay totaling $158,500.

The program, a comprehensive plan that includes outfitting requirements, media obligations and other items under the fighter code of conduct, replaces the previous payments made under the UFC Athlete Outfitting Policy.

UFC Fight Night 232 took place at the UFC Apex. The entire card streamed on ESPN+.

Under the UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance program’s payout tiers, which appropriate the money generated by Venum’s multi-year sponsorship with the UFC, fighters are paid based on their total number of UFC bouts, as well as Zuffa-era WEC fights (January 2007 and later) and Zuffa-era Strikeforce bouts (April 2321 and later). Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $4,000 per appearance; 4-5 bouts get $4,500; 6-10 bouts get $6,000; 11-15 bouts earn $11,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $16,000; and 21 bouts and more get $21,000. Additionally, champions earn $42,000 while title challengers get $32,000.

In addition to experience-based pay, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.

Uros Medic, Christian Leroy Duncan get new UFC Fight Night 232 opponents days before event

The UFC matchmakers have been hard at work with multiple replacements needed during fight week.

UFC Fight Night 232 has encountered two fight week changes thus far, and it’s only Tuesday.

With [autotag]Cesar Almeida[/autotag] and [autotag]Jonny Parsons[/autotag] out of Saturday’s event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, [autotag]Christian Leroy Duncan[/autotag] and [autotag]Uros Medic[/autotag] have new opponents.

Three people with knowledge of the changes recently informed MMA Junkie of them but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Almeida (4-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who withdrew due to an infection, has been replaced by [autotag]Denis Tiuliulin[/autotag] (11-8 MMA, 1-3 UFC) and will fight Duncan (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) in a middleweight bout on the preliminary card. The pairing was first reported by Vestnik MMA.

Tiuliulin looks to snap a two-fight skid. He most recently competed in August when he was quickly finished with strikes by Gregory Rodrigues. Duncan is a former Cage Warriors middleweight champion who will look to bounce back from his first career loss, a unanimous decision dropped vs. Armen Petrosyan in June.

Parsons is out for an undisclosed reason. He’s been replaced by promotional newcomer [autotag]Myktybek Orolbai Uulu[/autotag] (11-1-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who will fight Medic (9-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) in a welterweight bout on the main card. The matchup was first reported by MMA Orbit.

Uulu is an LFA standout with 10 finishes (six knockouts and four submissions) in 11 victories. Medic rides a two-fight winning streak into the matchup with TKO finishes of Omar Morales and Matthew Semelsberger.

UFC 292 winner Gregory Rodrigues insists he didn’t illegally hit Denis Tiuliulin on back of head

Gregory Rodrigues insists his finish of Denis Tiuliulin was clean and legal at UFC 292.

BOSTON – [autotag]Gregory Rodrigues[/autotag] denies hitting [autotag]Denis Tiuliulin[/autotag] on the back of the head.

Rodrigues (14-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) smashed Tiuliulin (11-8 MMA, 1-3 UFC) with vicious elbows on the ground in their middleweight matchup this past Saturday at UFC 292 – one of them which appeared to land on the back of Tiuliulin’s head.

The apparent illegal blow is what led to the fight-ending sequence as Rodrigues needed just one more strike to knock out Tiuliulin in Round 1 at TD Garden. But Rodrigues says he did not hit Tiuliulin on the back of the head.

“I didn’t hit that,” Rodrigues told reporters, including MMA Junkie, backstage at TD Garden. “I knew what I was doing there. It was right behind the ear. He was on the side, so how am I going to hit the head if he was on the side? If you guys saw the video, I landed one and he turned, and then I stopped it.

“Then I felt (he went) weak and dizzy, and then I landed the other one. But it was right on the side (of the head) and then the ref came and stopped the fight. I hit him like two or three times, and that was all that was necessary for him to stop the fight, but I didn’t at all hit in the back of the head.”

Rodrigues is open to rebooking his scrapped UFC 283 bout with Brad Tavares (20-9 MMA, 15-8 UFC), who was also victorious this past Saturday when he defeated the returning former champion Chris Weidman.

“Oh yeah, Brad Tavares just won,” Rodrigues said. “If he wants to fight, man, I’m ready for December. Let’s go. December I want go go back, and Brad Tavares is a great name for me.”
