Deion Sanders speaks on whether or not Shedeur Sanders would play for Browns

Deion Sanders has spoken with the Browns. And the results sound promising.

The Cleveland Browns need a quarterback, and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders is seen as perhaps the top one in the 2025 NFL draft.

The big hangup, however, was whether or not Deion Sanders, the Colorado head coach and father of Shedeur, would meddle in his landing spot. Many wondered if Sanders, despite a tight fit with the scheme, would be open to playing in Cleveland as the new face of the Browns’ franchise.

However, it sure sounds like Deion has no issues with the Browns being the potential landing spot for his son:

“Sometimes we desire things that aren’t right from us. Whether he goes 1, 2, or 3, he’ll exceed all expectations. We weren’t praying that he would go 1, we were praying that he would go in the first round. Now he allowed me to understand that he wants to top his daddy. His daddy was the fifth pick. He wants to go one through four.”

It did not stop there for Deion either. He was also on the Rich Eisen show and even went as far as to say that he has already spoken with the Browns and the New York Giants, who hold picks No. 2 and 3 respectively in the 2025 NFL draft.

“I just wanna know… If you don’t get your ‘why’s answered, you’re gonna always be curious in life,” he said. “I like to get my ‘why’s’ answered because this is my guy. These are my kids.”

Tthe Sanders family, both Deion and Shedeur, are more than happy if the Browns were to select him with the No. 2 overall pick in the draft this upcoming April.

In need of a new quarterback, and one on a rookie contract at that as they navigate the difficulties of the Deshaun Watson situation, landing Sanders would be a massive win for the Browns.

Deion Sanders hires Rams legend Marshall Faulk as Colorado’s new RBs coach

Marshall Faulk is venturing into coaching, joining Deion Sanders’ staff at Colorado as the team’s new RBs coach

There’s another Hall of Famer on Deion Sanders’ coaching staff at the University of Colorado. The school announced on Thursday night that Rams legend Marshall Faulk has been hired as the new running backs coach for the Buffaloes.

This will be Faulk’s first coaching job at the college or pro level, so it’s a new venture for the 52-year-old.

Colorado’s running backs will get a chance to learn from one of the all-time greats, an incredible opportunity for those in the Buffaloes’ backfield. Faulk played 12 seasons in the NFL, rushing for 12,279 yards and 100 touchdowns. He also caught 767 passes for 6,875 yards, going down as one of the best dual-threat backs in NFL history.

He ranks 12th all-time in career rushing yards and fifth in yards from scrimmage (19,154), also sitting in seventh place with 136 total touchdowns. Faulk made the Pro Bowl seven times, was a first-team All-Pro three times, won one Super Bowl and was voted Offensive Player of the Year three times.

He did most of his damage with the Rams, gaining 6,959 yards and scoring 58 touchdowns in St. Louis after spending the first five seasons of his career with the Colts.

Saints legend’s new dream: Leading his alma mater to a national championship

Reggie Bush led USC to a national championship as a player, and his newest desire is to deliver another college football title as a coach:

Reggie Bush made his name as one of the most electrifying college football players of all time at University of Southern California before being drafted by the New Orleans Saints. Bush is now looking to make his return to his alma mater but as a head coach.

There’s precedent for his hope.

Deion Sanders recently rose to prominence for excelling with limited coaching experience at Jackson State before moving to the University of Colorado. Tennessee State hired Eddie George in 2021. This past offseason, Michael Vick (Norfolk State) and Desean Jackson (Deleware State) were also hired.

Alabama State’s Eddie Robinson Jr. doesn’t have the profile of the previously mentioned players, but his journey is most reflective of Bush’s desires. Both men stayed connected to football after retirement through being involved in media. Most importantly, Robinson Jr. has been given the chance to lead his alma mater.

Bush’s ultimate goal is to “come back and be the head coach of USC at some point and help lead USC to a national championship.” His desire doesn’t just stop at USC. He reached out to Sacramento State about their vacancy this offseason as well.

Bush doesn’t have any experience coaching but likely sees other former players get opportunities with the same resume. Now that Bush has made his desire to coach known, he will be on the radar for any school trying to make that kind of splash. One thing to watch is will he try to build any coaching experience to make himself more attractive for head coaching openings. Maybe he’ll replace Lincoln Riley at USC some day, but for now he’s searching for his first opportunity to lead a program.

Deion Sanders creating more intrigue amongst Browns fans

Football legend Deion Sanders has no interest in stopping the Browns from drafting quarterback Shedeur Sanders

Deion Sanders has not stopped any links connecting his son, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, to the Cleveland Browns.

Sanders has no interest in stopping the Browns from drafting quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Deion Sanders liked an Instagram post featuring general manager Andrew Berry’s statements at the Senior Bowl. Berry told the media the Browns don’t anticipate Deion Sanders to block the team from drafting his son. As previously reported, the post also included information that the Browns did not request Sanders to withdraw from the East-West Shrine Bowl practices.

The Sanders family has stated they won’t interfere in Shedeur’s draft process. Earlier this month, Deion Sanders Jr. went to X to refute rumors that Shedeur would refuse to play for the Browns or the New York Giants.

The Browns have a lot of infrastructure to help a young quarterback thrive. The Browns have rededicated themselves to their core offensive philosophies this offseason. The Browns promoted senior assistant Bill Musgrave to the quarterback coach. Musgrave is a longtime NFL coach and a former player. He played with Deion Sanders in San Francisco in 1994.

The Sanders family is incredibly supportive of sons Shedeur and Shilo as they enter the NFL draft. The family wants the best for both boys, but not enough to involve themselves in the draft process as many speculated. They most likely know that Shedeur has all the tools to succeed in the NFL.

Another connection builds between Browns, Shedeur Sanders

Listen to Deion Sanders rave about Browns QB coach Bill Musgrave

As the Cleveland Browns search for a new quarterback, the connections between them and Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders continue to build.

General manager Andrew Berry has already said he does not foresee any issues from the Sanders family if the Browns were to select the Colorado quarterback. The connections between the two sides are undeniable, however.

Not only does head coach Kevin Stefanski have a firm relationship with Colorado’s offensive coordinator (and former Browns head coach) Pat Shurmur from their days in Minnesota, but Deion Sanders has a connection with their new quarterbacks coach, Bill Musgrave.

Musgrave has spoken on that connection, leading to him getting playing time in the Super Bowl behind Steve Young. The Browns’ quarterbacks coach recalls throwing balls to Sanders in practice, who wanted to make sure his hands were as sharp as could be.

Sanders too spoke on his relationship with Musgrave, who he called “Muskie.” You can hear Sanders rave about Musgrave below:

Will the Browns take Sanders? We’ll see. It’s deemed a bad class, but do not expect the Browns to be scared away by the Sanders family.

Browns ‘confident’ Deion Sanders has no issues if Shedeur Sanders selected

The Browns aren’t worried about getting Deion’s stamp of approval

The Cleveland Browns hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, and they continue to be linked to Colorado Football quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

A hangup, however, has always been about whether or not the family, highlighted by his father Deion Sanders, would allow for the talented quarterback to play for the Browns. So Browns general manager Andrew Berry was asked about it at the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

When asked whether Deion would interfere in where his son was drafted, and if that meant Cleveland, Berry stated, “I don’t anticipate that being a problem.”

Sanders attended the East-West Shrine Bowl in Frisco, Texas, this week and was on camera saying that he would be happy with whatever team drafted him there. Given Kevin Stefanski’s connection to Pat Shurmur, Colorado’s offensive coordinator, and new quarterback coach Bill Musgrave’s connection to Deion, the Browns are beginning to make sense for Sanders.

With the NFL draft three months away, there is still plenty to work out, but the Browns are not shying away from Sanders.

Coach Prime checks out former Buffs at Shrine Bowl practice

Coach Prime made an appearance at a Shrine Bowl practice

With several of his former Buffs players participating, Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders checked out an East-West Shrine Bowl practice on Monday.

Not including quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who’s sitting out practices and the game on Thursday, five Buffs are in Texas this week for the college football all-star game. Three former Colorado wide receivers, in particular, are turning heads in LaJohntay Wester, Will Sheppard and Jimmy Horn Jr. Each has made multiple highlight-reel catches during practices at the University of North Texas’ indoor practice facility.

Colorado starting safeties Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig and Shilo Sanders are also practicing alongside their fellow former Buffs. DNVR Buffs posted a video of Coach Prime monitoring his second-oldest son Shilo during drills.

With representatives from all 32 NFL teams in attendance, the Shrine Bowl provides players an opportunity to boost their draft stock.

Thursday’s Shrine Bowl is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT at AT&T Stadium in Arlington and will be televised on the NFL Network.

Deion Sanders shares heartfelt message for Super Bowl-bound Kansas City Chiefs

Coach Prime hailed to the Chiefs after they landed their third straight Super Bowl berth

Colorado head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders is never shy to heap praise on those who are excelling. He did so Sunday following the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC championship game to advance to a historic third consecutive Super Bowl.

Sanders showed love to the Chiefs, particularly toward all-time great tight end Travis Kelce, head coach Andy Reid and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Here’s what Coach Prime wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

“I got mad love for my brother @tkelce and I’m proud of all that he’s accomplished and I’m so darn happy for 1 of our games greatest receivers @DeAndreHopkins , Coach Reid & the @Chiefs. Wow God is good.”

Kelce and Reid have shared prior remarks supporting Sanders and his coaching job at Colorado while Hopkins is advancing to his first Super Bowl amid a star-studded 13-year NFL career. Reid and Sanders even linked up in November when the Buffaloes traveled to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Kansas Jayhawks.

Deion Sanders crashed Shedeur Sanders’ meeting with the Titans

The Tennessee Titans got an unexpected guest when they sat down with top prospect Shedeur Sanders at the East-West Shrine Bowl.

The Tennessee Titans will be turning over every stone in search of a quarterback this offseason. That process continues this weekend at the East-West Shrine Bowl, where they will get an up-close look at one of the top quarterback prospects in Shedeur Sanders.

Sanders is a polarizing prospect in some circles. Talented with athleticism and instincts, he does have the tools to be a dynamic player in the NFL, but there are questions. One of the biggest centers on his father, Hall of Famer Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders.

In fact, questions concerning the influence his father will have on his draft status have already become a topic at the Shrine Bowl. The Titans got a chance to experience all that comes with Shedeur when dad Deion crashed their interview session.

Titans reporter Jim Wyatt outlined the experience and what took place during the interview, when Deion FaceTimed his son a few times. The Titans’ contingent embraced this bond between father and son and played along.

“He kept calling me,” Sanders said with a smile. “I told him at the end: It’s over with. I have to soar on my own. Of course, he is missing me right now. (The Titans) were welcoming, and they love the fact that I have a great relationship with my father.”

The bond between Shedeur and his father is easy to see and is something that could turn some teams off. At this point, it is hard to tell how much this will impact his status with Tennessee, but it is something that will be worth monitoring as draft preparations ramp up.

Deion Sanders crashed Shedeur’s meeting with the Tennessee Titans on FaceTime

Deion Sanders has been vocal about steering Shedeur away from certain teams in the draft.

As the Tennessee Titans work to solidify the “generational talent” they plan on taking with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the team met with Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders on Friday at the East-West Shrine Bowl.

Also in attendance for a portion of the meeting — though unexpected and only via FaceTime — was the quarterback’s father, Deion Sanders.

Per ESPN’s Turron Davenport:

The Titans, who have the first overall pick, met with Sanders for 45 minutes. The meeting also included a surprise FaceTime call from Shedeur’s father, Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders.

“He’s really poised and had mature way about him,” Titans coach Brian Callahan told ESPN. “You can tell he’s been in the spotlight and knows how to handle it.”

Without more details, it’s tough to know how Deion’s FaceTime was perceived. It could’ve helped Shedeur’s case for the No. 1 pick or hurt it.

The Colorado coach has been extremely vocal about steering Shedeur away from certain teams who may be interested in drafting him. It’s unclear if Tennessee is one of those teams — especially now that the Titans have a new general manager in Mike Borgonzi.

Earlier this month, Deion explained his input on his son’s draft process during the Tamron Hall Show.

“It’s not like who I would like for him to play for,” Sanders said. “It’s a couple of teams that I won’t allow him to play for. So it’s not like that. But this is my profession. I know what’s behind the curtain. We ain’t got to get back there for me to understand what’s behind the curtain and what’s not prominent for my son. I’m not doing it.”

Meanwhile, the Titans have been vocal about keeping the No. 1 pick with team president Chad Brinker telling the press he won’t pass on a generational talent with the first pick”.

It’s still unclear who Brinker was referring to, however there was a massive surge in the odds for Travis Hunter — Shedeur’s teammate at Colorado and the Heisman Trophy winner — to go No. 1 overall following the comment.
