2024 4-star DL Dealyn Evans signs with Texas A&M over Texas and Florida

Evans verbally committed to the Aggies on July 31, 2022. He was primarily recruited by Elijah Robinson, who is departing soon for Syracuse.

Patience is a virtue and a prominent Texas A&M recruit emphasized that point across Instagram Live on Friday night.

4-star defensive lineman Dealyn Evans told the world that he would be making his decision on where to play college football on Friday at 5 p.m. CT. With over a thousand people tuned in, Evans pulled off the ultimate troll move, all in good fun, of course.

“It’s been a tough decision, but I feel like some things just need to wait,” Evans initially said on Instagram, indicating that he would be waiting until Feb. 7 to officially sign somewhere.

Minutes later, Evans officially revealed his decision to those still tuned in, announcing that he would be signing with the Aggies over The University of Texas and Florida among others.

Evans verbally committed to play at Texas A&M on July 31, 2022. He was primarily recruited by Elijah Robinson, who is departing after the Texas Bowl to become defensive coordinator at Syracuse, which left his signing status up in the air.

The 6-foot-4 1/2, 260-pound prospect had major interest in the Longhorns program and visited three other universities: Alabama, Florida and TCU. During his Gainsville visit with the Gators, he was recruited by Sean Spencer, who recently became the Aggies’ new defensive line coach.

Evans is set to graduate in the spring from Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas. He had 23 total offers and other notable schools include Auburn, Baylor, Houston, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, SMU, UTSA, USC and Washington.

Report: 2024 4-star and Aggie commit DL Dealyn Evans plans to sign soon

It has been reported that 2024 4-star and Aggie commit Dealyn Evans is close to announcing his signing date.

Texas A&M 2024 defensive line commit Dealyn Evans, one of the first players to commit to the Aggies in the 2024 cycle, is currently on the fence regarding his collegiate future, as several blue blood programs, including the ascending Texas Longhorns, are making late pushes to upend the Maroon & White. Evans chose to delay his signing during Wednesday’s early signing period.

However, the news cycle surrounding Evan’s relationship with the Longhorns has been widely fabricated, specifically 247Sports recruiting director Steve Wiltfong’s recent article’s use of a supposed quote from Evans describing his “love” for Texas, stemming back to his childhood:

“It’s my dream school. Been liking them ever since I was real young. Four-years old.

I like Bo (Davis), I like Sark, but BG (Blake Gideon) he always kept it real with from the jump.”

From the jump, many questioned why Evans would have committed to the Aggies if Texas had been his first choice all along, and according to a direct source, Rivals’ recruiting insider Landyn Rosow spoke to Evans directly, who went on to deny the validity of the quote.

Overall, Texas A&M reportedly holds a 50/50 shot at signing Dealyn Evans when all is said and done, as new head coach Mike Elko and his staff are still hard at work providing a vision for his potential future in College Station. Currently, Evans is slated to sign with a program in mere days.

Even more critical, Elko recently stated during his NSD press conference that an announcement regarding who will become the Aggies’ new defensive coordinator will likely impact Evans’ decision more than anything else.

Gators pushing to flip 4-star Texas A&M DL commit

The Gators are making a push to flip four-star defensive lineman Dealyn Evans from Texas A&M, but he says another visit to UF is needed.

Pine Tree (Texas) Longview defensive lineman [autotag]Dealyn Evans[/autotag] announced his commitment to the Texas A&M Aggies on July 31, but he’s continued to keep the door open for the Florida Gators.

Gators Online’s Corey Bender caught up with Evans to see how Florida’s flip efforts are going. Evans told him that Florida is still in the mix and that he’s developing his relationships with the coaching staff and recruiting class.

Despite taking an official visit to UF over the summer, Evans wants to get another look at the Swamp. He doesn’t have a date set for what should be his final visit, but Evans believes that he’ll have an answer once that trip is in the books.

“It will be a hard decision,” Evans said. “I will have my mind made up after my next UF visit.”

The two highest-rated recruits in Florida’s 2024 class, quarterback DJ Lagway and safety Xavier Filsaime, hail from the state of Texas and are trying to convince Evans to flip from A&M. Both are five-star talents that have bought into Billy Napier’s vision and adding Evans would put a class ranked No. 3 in the country over the top.

Evans is a consensus four-star recruit, ranked highest by 247sports at No. 41 overall in the 2024 class. He comes in at No. 66 on the On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average from all four major recruiting services, and is No. 10 among defensive linemen in the class.

After 5-Star DL Dominick McKinley’s commitment, Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class soars in 247Sports’ Team rankings

After 2024 5-star DL Dominick McKinley committed to Texas A&M, the Aggies 2024 recruiting class rises in 247Sports Team rankings.

Just a day before Texas A&M kicks off the 2023 college football season against New Mexico, Jimbo Fisher and his staff received the exciting news that 2024 five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley had committed to the Aggies, shocking many in the recruiting landscape, as the No.1-ranked player in Louisiana chose the Maroon & White over LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, and Ohio State.

Texas A&M D-line coach Elijah Robinson deserves a bulk of the credit for successfully winning McKinley’s approval, as his development in the trenches combined with his academic future make the Aggies a perfect fit, joining one of the deepest defensive line group littered with blue chip talent. Joining four-star Dealyn Evans and three-star Gabriel Reliford, the future in the defensive trenches looks to be secure, yet future success on the field will truly determine the future of the defensive roster.

After McKinley’s impactful announcement, Texas A&M’s 247Sports 2024 Team Recruiting Ranking has now risen to the No. 5 spot and is one of four teams with an average recruit ranking of 92, joining Ohio State, Georgia, and Alabama.

With a total of 21 verbal commits, including one five-star, 18 four-star, and two three-star prospects, several high-priority prospects remain, most notably 2024 five-star athlete Terry Bussey, who is a big favorite to land with the Maroon & White ahead of his commitment announcement on Sept. 28.

Florida is still attempting to flip Aggie commit Dealyn Evans

2024 4-star DL Dealyn Evans is Texas A&M’s top commit in the class, and according to one source, Florida is still attemping to flip him.

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class is headlined by rising four-star defensive lineman Dealyn Evans, who committed to the Aggies in July of last year and has steadily increased in the recruiting ranks ever since.

According to 247Sports, Evans is now positioned as the 41st-ranked prospect in the 2204 cycle, the 9th-ranked defensive lineman, and the 8th-ranked player in Texas. Going into his senior season at Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas, Evans put on a show during his 2022 junior campaign, recording 58 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks, and two pass breakups, and is expected to eclipse these numbers in 2023.

With Evans committing to the Aggies as early as he did, this left an opening for other programs, specifically in the SEC, to increase their recruiting effort this summer. As of now, the Florida Gators, who Dealyn is currently visiting this weekend, are doing everything they can to flip the future superstar but don’t let that distract you from the work the Aggies recruiting staff has done to keep him close to home.

One perspective regarding the Gator’s recruiting effort comes from 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, who is, as we say, “in the know” concerning any related recruiting updates:

“Dealyn Evans had a great visit to Florida in April. He loved his experience on campus. I had a chance to talk to him about that earlier today. He’s really pumped to get back. Florida is talking about playing him on the end, which is something that’s very exciting to him. Texas A&M has Elijah Robinson and Terry Price recruiting their defensive lineman. They do a phenomenal job of keeping in-state defensive linemen in the fold. It’s hard to flip their commits.”

In the 2023 cycle, five-star defensive lineman David Hicks Jr., who coincidentally just arrived in College Station last weekend, was also a candidate to potentially flip to Oklahoma just months before he officially put pen to paper on Dec. 23, so as Wiltfong stated, it’s very tough to one-up the stellar tandem of Robinson and Price. As of now, the same can be said for Dealyn Evans.

2024 4-Star DL and Aggie commit Dealyn Evans continues to rise in newest Top247 rankings

2024 4-Star defenisve lineman Dealyn Evans, who is committed to Texas A&M, has officially cracked the Top 50 in 247Sports newest rankings.

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class is already filled with incredible potential at critical positions, and even though only six players are currently committed in the cycle, summer visits leading up to the 2023 season will answer many of the remaining unanswered questions, but one thing remains clear; four-star defensive lineman and 2024 commit, Dealyn Evans is a borderline elite prospect in the trenches.

Dealyn Evans’s stock is rising daily; he was already named to the Polynesian Bowl All-Star Team and was named Defensive Line MVP in his recent appearance at Rivals Camp in Dallas, Texas, earlier this month. Standing at 6-4 and 260 pounds, Evans is a freakishly fluid athlete, with strength and bend to consistently beat his man off the edge, with the versatility to shift inside to 4i or 3-tech if needed.

On Monday, 247Sports released their newest Top247 for the 2024 cycle, and up 29 spots from his previous placing, Evans comes in at No. 41, and don’t be surprised if he’s inside the Top 20 when it’s all said and done. From the man himself, respect it, and as always, Gig ‘Em!

Florida football coach visited Texas A&M commit on Wednesday

Can the Gators flip this TAMU commit? Mike Peterson is doing all he can to make it happen.

A handful of Florida’s football coaches have been out and about this week visiting some of the top prep recruits in the area ahead of official visit season, which starts next month. Among those hosting a member of the Gators’ staff is four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Dealyn Evans[/autotag], a Texas A&M Aggies commit out of Longview (Texas) Pine Tree in the 2024 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 260-pound lineman got a visit from outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson on Wednesday, according to Swamp247’s Blake Alderman. The Gators and Aggies are currently dueling it out for the coveted defender, with the Orange and Blue making significant in-roads recently.

“I loved it for the most part to be honest with you,” Evans told Swamp247 in regards to his earlier visit to Gainesville this spring. “Definitely a school at the top of my list. I liked watching practice and seeing the intensity. The coaching staff, I like everyone here. They kind of treated me like family.”

The rising high school senior currently has an official visit date set with Billy Napier and Co. for the first weekend of June. He also has the Texas Christian Horned Frogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on his OV docket as well.

Evans is ranked No. 175 overall and No. 21 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 146 and 17, respectively.

2024 4-star DL and Aggie commit Dealyn Evans named Defensive Line MVP at Rivals Camp

2024 4-star defensive lineman and Aggie commit Dealyn Evans was named D-line MVP at the annual Rivals Camp Series

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class is still in its early stages ahead of a crucial commitment push this summer, but even with only five players committed as of May, 4-star defensive lineman Dealyn Evans stands out as an elite prospect at the position, whose status as a future game-wrecker is continuing to grow after participating in the annual Rival Camp Series this weekend in Dallas, Texas

Standing out every year as the only free high school football combine in the country, Evans, to no one’s surprise, put on a show while listed at 6-4, 260 pounds, notably lining up against 2024 3-star offensive tackle Coen Echols, a priority recruit for the Aggies.

Moving around the defensive line, Evans continued to show his versatility as a pass rusher on the outside and in the interior, successfully beating his man off the snap throughout the afternoon. Due to his performance, Evans was named Defensive Line MVP for the weekend.

According to Rivals, Evans is rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the 47th player in the country, and the 17th-ranked Strongside Defensive end prospect in the 2024 class. After committing to the Aggies on July 31 of last year, Evans’s stock has continued to rise ahead of his senior season at Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas.

Aggies 2024 4-star DL commit Dealyn Evans selected as a Polynesian Bowl All-Star

Texas A&M’s top signee in the 2024 recruiting cycle, 4-star DL Dealyn Evans, has been selected as a Polynesian Bowl All-Star!

Texas A&M and head coach Jimbo Fisher landed one of the best all-around recruits in the 2024 cycle with four-star defensive lineman Dealyn Evans, who despite all the surrounding chatter after a couple of visits to LSU and Florida in the last couple of months, is completely locked in with the Maroon and White.

According to 247Sports, Evans has continued to rise up the recruiting ranks, currently sitting as the 70th-ranked player in the country, 10th-ranked defensive lineman, and 12th-ranked player in Texas.

Entering his final season at Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas, Evans is coming off of his highly productive 2022 junior campaign, recording 58 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 2 pass breakups, and a fumble returned for a touchdown. Evans was just named a Polynesian Bowl All-Star ahead of his much anticipated senior season, joining 41 other future FBS stars at various positions.

This is a big-time honor for a player that is likely to find himself within the single-digit recruiting rankings at D-line by this time next year, and as his 6-4, 260-pound frame continues to add healthy muscle, especially once he enters a collegiate conditioning program, watch out ya’ll.

Blue-chip Texas A&M DL commit sets official visit date with Florida

Another day, another official visit scheduled for Florida football this June.

The official visit dates are piling up for Florida football as Billy Napier and Co. move on to the next phase of the year-round recruiting schedule. Several current commits and others have already set their special day in June to check out what is cooking in the Swamp.

One member of the 2024 class who had already committed to the Texas A&M Aggies back in July 2022 recently set an official visit in Gainesville. Four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Dealyn Evans[/autotag] out of Longview (Texas) Pine Tree plans to make his OV on the weekend of June 2-4, according to Swamp247’s Blake Alderman.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 260-pound lineman received an offer from the program back in March and trekked down to Hogtown for a three-day stay in early April. The 2024 recruit felt a strong connection with Napier’s Gators following the visit, resulting in his decision to use an OV on the Orange and Blue this summer.

“I don’t really know if there is a direct thing anyone would need to do. It’s more of a feeling,” he told Swamp247 after his unofficial visit. “I feel good here. This is the closest thing to A&M. Maybe a little better if you ask me.”

The high school junior also has official visits planned with the Texas Christian Horned Frogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in June.

Evans is ranked No. 175 overall and No. 20 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 145 and 17, respectively.
