Titans promote C.J. Board to active roster among 4 moves

The Titans have also placed DB Lonnie Johnson on injured reserve.

The Tennessee Titans have made four moves ahead of their Week 11 matchup against the Green Bay Packers on “Thursday Night Football”.

The team announced it has placed defensive back Lonnie Johnson on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. Taking his spot on the roster is wide receiver C.J. Board, who has been promoted from the practice squad.

Board made his Titans debut last week and served as the team’s punt returner. He had a few nice returns and downed one of Ryan Stonehouse’s punts at the five-yard line.

In addition to those moves, the Titans are elevating defensive backs Greg Mabin and Davontae Harris from the practice squad for Week 11.

Harris joined the team this week, while Mabin is a familiar face after having played in five games for the Titans in 2021.

Tennessee and Green Bay will kickoff from Lambeau field at 8:15 p.m. EDT. You can check out all the viewing and listening information below.

8 Bears bubble players who have earned a roster spot

Not everyone can stick on the Bears final roster, but here are eight players we believe made a great case following the preseason.

The regular season is just days away for the Chicago Bears now that both training camp and the preseason have concluded. But before they take the field against the San Francisco 49ers in week one, general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus must trim the roster down from 80 players to 53. This means plenty of tough decisions will be made regarding bubble players who have given everything they have since training camp began in late July.

Cutting 27 players isn’t easy for an NFL general manager and while some are easy to spot, it also becomes clear as to who has earned a place on the team. Here are eight players we believe have made a great case to stick on the Bears final roster.

WATCH: Bears special teams comes up big with touchdown before halftime

Bears safety Elijah Hicks scored a touchdown on a Seahawks muffed punt to extend Chicago’s lead to 17-0 at halftime.

The Chicago Bears special teams came up big in the final minute of the first half to add to their lead.

Nursing a 10-0 lead in the final minute of the first half, Bears punter Trenton Gill booted a 43-yard punt to Seahawks wide receiver Cade Johnson, who muffed the punt on Seattle’s 9-yard line.

Safety Davontae Harris was the first Bears player to reach the ball, but it was rookie safety Elijah Hicks who recovered it for the touchdown to extend Chicago’s lead to 17-0 at the end of the first half.

Bears sign CB Davontae Harris, DL Trevon Coley

The Bears announced the signings of CB Davontae Harris and DL Trevon Coley, who both were at Halas Hall for a workout on Thursday.

The Chicago Bears have signed cornerback Davontae Harris and defensive lineman Trevon Coley, the team announced Friday. Chicago waived defensive tackle Auzoyah Alufohai and safety Jon Alexander in corresponding moves.

Harris and Coley were among five free agents who worked out for the Bears on Thursday, and they’ve now earned a roster spot heading into the second week of training camp.

Harris is a former fifth-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018, and he’s bounced around over the last six seasons. Harris has spent time with five different teams, including the Bengals (2018), Denver Broncos (2019-20), Baltimore Ravens (2020), San Francisco 49ers (2021) and Los Angeles Chargers (2021).

Harris has appeared in 36 games, including nine starts, where he registered 59 tackles and four pass breakups.

Coley, a former undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic, has had stops with several teams, including most notably the Cleveland Browns (2016-18), Indianapolis Colts (2019), Arizona Cardinals (2020) and most recently the Tennessee Titans (2021).

Coley has appeared in 44 NFL games, including 31 starts, totaling 100 tackles, 14 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks. Coley played for Bears head coach Matt Eberflus, who was the Colts defensive coordinator from 2018-21.

Bears are signing veteran CB Davontae Harris

The Bears are adding depth at cornerback with Davontae Harris, who was one of several players who worked out for the team on Thursday.

The Chicago Bears are signing veteran cornerback and special teamer Davontae Harris, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Harris was one of five defensive players that the Bears worked out on Thursday, and he certainly made an impression.

His best season came with the Broncos in 2019, where he appeared in 16 games (6 starts) and totaled 35 tackles and 3 pass breakups.

Most recently, he appeared in six games between the Chargers and 49ers last season, where he had 9 tackles. Harris has served primarily as a reserve and special teams contributor.

The Bears have a much-improved secondary following a dismal showing in 2021, and that includes at the cornerback position. Their most notable additions include rookie Kyler Gordon and veteran nickel cornerback Tavon Young.

But with Thomas Graham Jr. sidelined with a hamstring injury, it makes sense to bring in Harris as depth at cornerback. Especially given he provides contributions on special teams.

Chargers CB Michael Davis tested positive for COVID-19

Michael Davis was pulled from warmups because he wasn’t feeling well, only to find that he tested positive for COVID-19.

The Chargers anticipated having all of their starting cornerbacks out on the field for the first time in four weeks against the Texans.

However, that did not come to fruition, as Michael Davis was pulled from pre-game warmups because he wasn’t feeling well, only to find out that he tested positive for COVID-19.

In place of Davis, Davontae Harris got the start on the outside. But after struggling, Harris was pulled, Chris Harris Jr. moved near the boundary, and Essang Bassy, who was claimed off waivers last week, played in the slot.

Without Davis and Derwin James, who was an emergency player after still dealing with a hamstring issue, the defensive backfield had no answer for rookie Davis Mills, who threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns.

If Davis tested positive for COVID-19, there’s the possibility of some Chargers players resorting to the reserve list due to close contact at the very least this upcoming week.

Los Angeles had 13 active players who did not play on Sunday due to COVID-19.

Chargers sign CB Davontae Harris

The Chargers are adding some much-needed cornerback depth.

The Chargers are adding some much-needed cornerback depth.

Los Angeles signed CB Davontae Harris off the 49ers’ practice squad on Tuesday, the team announced.

The move comes after the uncertainty of Asante Samuel Jr. for the remainder of the season. Samuel suffered his second concussion in Week 11 against the Steelers.

A fifth-round pick out of Illinois State in 2018, Harris played for the Bengals, Broncos and Ravens before finding his way in San Francisco this season.

Harris has played in 31 games through four seasons, eight of which he started, posting 50 tackles, defended passes, and a forced fumble.

49ers roster moves: Cornerback and running back waived ahead of Bye

The #49ers waived a running back and a cornerback with their Bye week coming.

The San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday announced a pair of moves that opened up two spots on the active roster. Cornerback Davontae Harris and running back Jaques Patrick were both placed on waivers with the Bye week coming up.

Harris was just activated off injured reserve, so there’s a chance the team tries to re-sign him to the practice squad if he clears waivers. He was with the 49ers for a short time in the preseason and made the active roster before immediately being placed on IR with a hamstring issue.

Patrick joined the 49ers before Week 3 against the Packers when they signed him off the Bengals practice squad. His two games with San Francisco yielded six offensive snaps and 18 special teams snaps. Patrick notched two carries for 12 yards in Week 4 vs. Seattle.

The 49ers anticipate getting healthier after the Bye and they may be looking to clear roster spots for when they activate players off Injured Reserve. They could also be angling to sign veterans at other positions where depth is problem.

49ers claim former Ravens DB Davontae Harris off waivers

With depth at CB lacking, the #49ers added CB Davontae Harris off waivers from the Ravens.

The 49ers on Tuesday announced another addition to their secondary as they continue battling injuries and depth problems. They claimed defensive back Davontae Harris off waivers from the Ravens, and released QB Josh Rosen in a corresponding move.

Harris was a fifth-round selection by the Bengals in the 2018 draft. He was let go by Cincinnati after his rookie season, joined the Broncos for the 2019 campaign, and was claimed off waivers from Denver by the Ravens midway through the 2020 season.

He’s played in 30 games with 8 starts across his three-year career. His most extensive playing time came in 2019 when he started six games for the Broncos and played in 429 defensive snaps. Harris has 50 tackles, four pass breakups and a forced fumble in his career.

The 49ers will slide Harris into their thin cornerback room that saw Ken Webster get released as part of the first wave of roster cuts. Emmanuel Moseley is also working through a hamstring injury going into the second preseason game. Harris can’t be written off as a candidate to make the roster, but his primary function to start will simply be filling out the secondary with injuries and roster cuts limiting that group.

Ravens waive three players, place two on injured reserve

Ravens waive three players, place two on injured reserve

The Baltimore Ravens have a huge amount of depth at multiple positions on their roster this offseason. While it’s a great to have a plethora of playmakers, it will make for some tough decisions over the coming weeks as rosters get trimmed down to 53 players.

The first roster deadline comes on Tuesday, as by August 17th at 4PM EST teams must trim their roster to 85 players. Baltimore took steps towards doing that, waiving three players while placing another two on injured reserve.

Adeoye and Wolf both spent the 2020 season on the Ravens’ practice squad, while Harris was brought in during the midway point of last season, playing in four games for the team. Marshall will spend his third straight season on injured reserve as he’s only played in three games during his three year NFL career. Dorsey got hurt in practice last week, and now won’t see the field during the 2021 season.

Baltimore also signed quarterback Kenji Bahar in the wake of Trace McSorley’s back injury, which will keep him out multiple weeks.

With the three players waived, two placed on injured reserve and one signed, the Ravens’ roster currently stands at 86 players, so it looks like they’ll have to make one more move before Tuesday’s deadline.
