David Njoku makes shirtless plea for Myles Garrett to stay

Garrett’s fellow 20174 NFL draft first round pick has made a public plea

Myles Garrett is not the only Cleveland Browns player on Radio Row at the Super Bowl, as tight end David Njoku has also been caught on the scene.

And in classic Njoku fashion, the Pro Bowl tight end is not wearing a shirt just like it is a pregame ritual in 20-degree weather. On Radio Row, however, Njoku sat down with the guys at Bleacher Report to discuss the future of the Browns, including the trade request made by Garrett, who did a media tour of his own.

In the interview, Mike Golic Jr. asks Njoku if he has any public plea for Garrett. Njoku responded:

“Come on, dawg, stay home, bro… Stay home, come on, give it another shot. We ain’t that far off, honestly speaking, so.”

Njoku furthered his plea to his fellow 2017 NFL draft first round pick:

“That’s my brother, man. We came in the same time, the same round. We’ve been here the same amount of time. We’ve seen the lowest of the lows and the highest of the highs in our team… I don’t think we’re done yet. I know he wants to win, wants to be great, wants to be a champion. So do I… Stay home baby. We already got this far. We didn’t come this far just to come this far.”

As for how close the Browns are? Njoku thinks they may be just one piece away:

“I think we’re close, man. I think we just need a healthy, good quarterback.”

The Browns have publicly stated they will not entertain trading their future first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer. Can Njoku and the Browns get Garrett to buy back in for the 2025 season though?

Is David Njoku playing today? Injury updates for Browns TE

Browns TE David Njoku is dealing with a knee injury. Here are the latest updates.

The Cleveland Browns have been working through a knee injury with tight end David Njoku, and it has affected his status in Week 17 against the Miami Dolphins.

After missing practice all week, the Browns ruled Njoku out in this matchup on Friday. He will miss his second game in three weeks with a lower body injury as the 3-12 Browns look to potentially scrape away a fourth win on the season. For a team already looking ahead to the 2025 NFL draft due to a poor season, the reasons to watch this Week 17 game got even fewer.

Here is everything we know on the status of Njoku, not only this week but ending the season next week as well.

David Njoku injury update

Njoku did not practice at all this week, now going into the third week in a row of dealing with an injury. He did not play in Week 16 against the Kansas City Chiefs, returned to the field last week against the Cincinnati Bengals despite practicing just one day, and now will miss this game.

The past two weeks, however, it was a hamstring injury that was hampering him. This week it is a knee injury that has sidelined Njoku as he got an MRI after the game against the Bengals last week.

If he cannot get back out onto the field next week against the Ravens, Njoku will finish his 2024 season with 505 yards and five touchdowns on 64 catches.

How long will David Njoku be out?

Njoku has now missed two of his last three games with lower body injuries despite playing against the Bengals last week. Sitting at 3-12 with one game to go after this matchup against the Dolphins, who knows if the Browns will push him to be back in Week 18 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Typically opting to play through an injury frequently, however, Njoku will likely play if he can against the AFC North foe.

Browns TE depth chart

The Browns recently signed a new tight end off the New York Jets’ practice squad to their active roster, Brenden Bates. Jordan Akins and Blake Whiteheart join him as the active tight ends in this game against the Dolphins. Tre McKitty is also on the practice squad.

In their Week 16 game against the Chiefs, it was Akins who grabbed three catches for 30 yards. Njoku, however, led the team in receiving last week with Dorian Thompson-Robinson in this game. If Thompson-Robinson looks to the tight end in this one as well, Akins may be his man.

Browns Pro Bowler set to get MRI on knee after loss vs Bengals

David Njoku is fighting through a knee injury with six days to prepare for the Dolphins

The Cleveland Browns may be without Pro Bowl tight end David Njoku against the Miami Dolphins after suffering a knee injury against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski told the media on Monday that Njoku is set to have an MRI on his knee as the team prepares for their Week 17 game. Njoku had missed the previous game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a hampered hamstring. Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson is also dealing with a calf injury that may put his status against the Dolphins in question.

However, it is only Monday and the Browns do not practice until Wednesday. Stefanski added that Njoku will play if he can play, and for a player who has fought through high ankle sprains and severe burns to stay on the field, there is plenty to believe in that statement.

We will have a better picture of the status of Njoku when the initial injury report comes out on Wednesday.

Is David Njoku playing today? Injury updates for Browns TE

Browns TE David Njoku is dealing with a hamstring injury. Here are the latest updates.

The Cleveland Browns were without their Pro Bowl tight end David Njoku a week ago against the Kansas City Chiefs and may be without him again in this Week 16 showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Dealing with a hamstring injury, Njoku was limited in practice this week, even missing some time on the practice field. Returning to practice at the end of the week, the Browns have listed Njoku as questionable against the Bengals.

Find out everything you need to know about Njoku’s gameday status in Week 16!

David Njoku injury update

The Browns have listed Njoku as questionable in this game against the Bengals. After missing last week against the Kansas City Chiefs, Njoku did practice on Friday as the Browns prepared for their AFC North rival.

Njoku has been a tough player who has played through high ankle sprains and severe burns on his skin, so if Njoku can go he is going to play.

How long will David Njoku be out?

Hopefully, Njoku will be able to go in this game against the Bengals. After a Pro Bowl season a year ago, Njoku would be on pace for another one if he had not dealt with injuries this season for the Browns.

At the end of the day, Njoku remains a long-term piece to the Browns so there is nothing to evaluate about his future with the team down the stretch. If he needs to rest the last few weeks of a lost season as the Browns sit at 3-11, it would not hurt his future in Cleveland.

Browns Tight End depth chart

If Njoku cannot go, it will once again be Jordan Akins getting the bulk of the tight end snaps for the Browns. He brings a receiving threat as a former basketball player at the University of Central Florida but is not much of a blocker.

The Browns also have tight ends Geoff Swaim and Blaker Whiteheart as depth at the tight end position on the roster as well.

Chiefs vs. Browns: 15 players listed on Cleveland’s latest injury report

The Cleveland #Browns had 15 players listed on their final injury report heading into Week 15.

The Cleveland Browns will need every advantage they can get to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15, but even before kickoff at Noon CST, their lengthy injury report could prove too much to overcome.

While the Chiefs have suffered some key injuries themselves, the Browns had no less than 15 players on the mend this week, which could test Cleveland’s depth this afternoon.

The Browns are expected to be without dynamic wide receiver Cedric Tillman and Cleveland’s star tight end David Njoku is listed as questionable.

Should both players be held out of the game due to their injuries, the Browns would be without two of their top receivers.

Take a look at this table of the complete injury reports from Cleveland and Kansas City, which was shared on Twitter by Chiefs team reporter Matt McMullen:

Though the Browns were always going to be underdogs heading into today’s game, the sheer number of injuries that Cleveland reported this week could point to a potential blowout on the road for the 12-1 Chiefs.

Browns expected to be without massive weapon vs. Chiefs

David Njoku is expected to miss Week 15 with a hamstring injury

The Chief is not expected to play against the Kansas City Chiefs as the Cleveland Browns will look for answers without tight end David Njoku.

Dealing with a hamstring injury, Njoku missed practice for the Browns on Wednesday. The Browns are not overly optimistic about his chances of getting back out on the practice field this week as Cleveland dot com’s Mary Kay Cabot has reported the team expects their star tight end to miss this Week 15 matchup against the Chiefs.

Coming off of a Pro Bowl season in 2023 where Njoku racked up 882 yards and six touchdowns on 81 catches, Njoku has followed it up with another solid season. This season, Njoku has 439 yards and five touchdowns on 56 catches. He now has three games left to continue to make a back-to-back Pro Bowl bid.

Njoku has been a team-first guy over the past half-decade and has even played through a high ankle sprain and severe burns over the past two seasons. If he cannot go in this game against the Chiefs, then he is truly feeling it in his hamstring.

Window dressing: Jameis Winston finds Njoku to cut lead in fourth quarter

Welp, at least they kept playing

The Cleveland Browns at least made it look less ugly as quarterback Jameis Winston found tight end David Njoku for a touchdown strike to pull the game within two scores.

With just over seven minutes left in the game, Winston connected with tight end Njoku for a 15-yard touchdown, capping a 14-play, 79-yard drive to cut the Steelers’ lead to 27-14. Cleveland converted two crucial fourth downs on the drive, one on a three-yard pass to Njoku and the other on a nine-yard completion to receiver Elijah Moore. This was Winston’s second touchdown pass of the game.

The Browns relied heavily on the passing game with time running out, keeping their slim comeback hopes alive in Pittsburgh. However, kicker Dustin Hopkins’ two missed field goals from within 45 yards now loom large, as they could have brought the game within one score with ample time remaining.

Winston has completed 23 of 39 passes for 201 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, following his record-setting performance for most passing yards in franchise history last week. Running back Nick Chubb has rushed 11 times for 48 yards, while Jerry Jeudy continues to lead the receiving corps with 64 yards and a touchdown. Cleveland will need a big play or two to stay in contention for an improbable comeback.

Big-time response: Jameis Winston bounces right back with masterful 2 minute drill

Jameis Winston finds David Njoku again!

The Cleveland Browns operated a masterful two-minute drill with quarterback Jameis Winston at the helm to draw closer at the end of the half against the Denver Broncos.

Right after throwing a pick-six on a promising drive, Winston connected with tight end David Njoku for a four-yard touchdown to cut Denver’s lead to 21-17 near the end of the first half. Cleveland orchestrated an 11-play, 70-yard drive to secure a crucial score as they aim to double up after halftime. It was Njoku’s second touchdown of the game.

Receivers Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore were instrumental on the drive, combining for 57 yards to move the Browns into scoring position. Jeudy made a key third-down reception early, while Michael Woods contributed a clutch 13-yard gain on another third down later in the drive.

Cleveland has racked up 298 total yards in the first half, crossing into Denver territory on every possession. However, a missed field goal and the earlier pick-six have kept them at 17 points. Winston has already thrown for 245 yards, with Jeudy hauling in five catches for 97 yards against his former team. Njoku has been a consistent red-zone threat, scoring twice to keep the Browns competitive against a tough Broncos squad.

Jameis Winston rebounds from pick-six with TD pass to David Njoku

Jameis Winston showed resliency after throwing a pick-six

Jameis Winston is unflappable.

After throwing a pass late in the second quarter on Monday that turned into a Denver Broncos pick-six by Nik Bonitto, he brought his Cleveland Browns right down the field.

The drive lasted 11 plays and 70 yards. It only ate up 1:25 before Winston connected with David Njoku for a four-yard TD pass.

The game went to halftime with Cleveland trailing 21-17.

It was Njoku’s second TD reception of the first half.

On the board: Jameis Winston finds David Njoku to tie game

Jameis Winston continued his clean streak of football in the first quarter against the Broncos.

The Cleveland Browns tied up their game against the Denver Broncos as quarterback Jameis Winston capped off a stellar drive with a touchdown strike to tight end David Njoku.

With three minutes left in the opening quarter, Winston connected with Njoku for an eight-yard touchdown, tying the game at 7-7. Cleveland answered the Broncos’ opening score with a 70-yard drive in just five plays, highlighted by a 44-yard reception from receiver Elijah Moore as they look to upset the Broncos on Monday Night Football.

Recently elevated receiver Kadarius Toney contributed with a three-yard rush on a reverse while running back Jerome Ford added a four-yard run. Njoku bookended the drive, starting with an 11-yard catch and finishing it with a tight-window grab from Winston in the end zone.

The Browns’ offense has shown promise early, though their opening drive ended with a missed 47-yard field goal by Dustin Hopkins. Winston has started strong, completing four of his first five passes for 107 yards, with Moore and Jerry Jeudy each recording 44-yard receptions. The run game is averaging four yards per carry on six attempts, aiming to maintain balance against Denver’s formidable defense.
