More on this storyline

More importantly, Durant did raise the topic that even to this day, there are people serving serious time in prison for selling marijuana. That fact has become even more absurd as businesses all over the country make immense revenue from selling the product. Durant’s message and candid admission about being high during the interview itself are just two more signs of how much things have changed in recent years. It will be interesting to see how much more he discusses his involvement in the blossoming marijuana industry going forward. -via ahnfiredigital.com / May 18, 2022
In an interview with David Letterman (who showed up at Nets Media Day back in September) that will air later this month, Kevin Durant talks about his investment in WeedMaps an app that helps users locate marijuana dispensaries … and his personal use. “To me, it clears the distractions out of your brain a little bit. Settles you down. It’s like having a glass of wine,” Durant said in an advance of the interview provided to Bleacher Report by Netflix. When Letterman asks about his own use, KD smiled and responded, “I’m actually high right now.” -via NetsDaily / May 17, 2022
On a more serious note, Durant said he wants to “change the narrative around athletes and marijuana.” Durant told Letterman he began smoking marijuana when he was 22. He’s 33 now. While recreational marijuana is legal across the country (and in many if not a majority of the NBA cities), it is illegal in the NBA although the NBA suspended marijuana testing during the “bubble.” -via NetsDaily / May 17, 2022

David Letterman trolls Kevin Durant on media day

Dave Letterman crashed Nets media day.

Television host and comedian David Letterman stopped by on Nets Media Day on a mission to troll Kevin Durant. Letterman’s antics started when he introduced himself as “Dave from Basketball Digest” and things sort of took off from there. He asked the Nets star why people call him KD. Durant responded saying, “My first name is Kevin with a K and my last name is Durant with a D.”

The trolling continued when Letterman told KD, “I just got off the phone with the Dolan family and they said they’re talking to the commissioner now. They’re looking at working out a contractual deal that will allow you, when you’re not playing for the Nets, you’ll be able to play for the Knicks. Comments?”

A fed up Durant replied, “Alright Dave, that was the last one.” Except, this actually was not his last question. Before leaving, Letterman made sure to ask Durant a question about the New Orleans Pelicans. He said, “What about the Pelicans? When you play the Pelicans does it kind of make you giggle?”

This was enough to get the two-time NBA champion to laugh before he answered saying, “Ya.” Unfortunately for the Nets, this was Letterman’s last question, and he left before any other player came out.

Shortly after when Blake Griffin arrived at the table, the veteran was asked if he saw David Letterman earlier. A stunned Griffin responded, “I almost made a joke, well he looks like David Letterman … I didn’t know David Letterman came to our Media Day. Wow ok, missed that one.”

David Letterman asked Kevin Durant hilariously bizarre questions on Nets media day

Meet Dave from Basketball Digest.

I’ve seen a lot of negative takes on David Letterman jumping on a Brooklyn Nets media day call Monday morning to ask Kevin Durant some weird questions.

My response: It’s David Letterman! A comedic legend! Did we all forget that? Let him ask some bizarre questions to KD, including, “Why do people call you KD?” Letterman even got Durant to crack when talking about how weird it is to play at team called the Pelicans.

So here it is: A bit between “Dave from Basketball Digest” and KD. I got a chuckle out of it and I hope you do too:

IndyCar team owner David Letterman shared a hilarious story about his first Indy 500 in 1966

David Letterman had a good time at the 1966 Indy 500.

David Letterman isn’t your average racing fan.

The former Late Night talk show host is such a huge IndyCar Series fan that he’s actually the co-owner of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, and one of his drivers, Takuma Sato, was the defending Indianapolis 500 champ going into Sunday’s Indy 500.

Letterman’s earliest memory of the race nicknamed “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” is from 1955 when he’d listen to the race on the radio with his family just miles away from Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the mammoth 2.5-mile track that hosts the race.

But before Sunday’s 105th Indy 500, Letterman shared a hilarious story of the first Indy 500 he attended.

It was 1966, he told NBC Sports, and he and a friend from Ball State, where Letterman went to college, went to the race with what he described as a “homemade beer-carrying melter.”

As Letterman tells it:

“I think it was 1966. Jackie Stewart was there, Dan Gurney was there, A.J. Foyt was there, and it truly was a world event. …

“And the other thing, I think it was a buddy of mine from Ball State, we drove down, and we found a old piece of Samsonite luggage. A big, like six-suiter or something, and we put as much beer in it as we could. And as the day heated up, all the ice melted, and we had a waterfall going down. And people beneath us [were like], ‘What? Where is this?’ And of course it was the idiots, the drunks, sitting up there.”

Letterman’s IndyCar team had three drivers in Sunday’s Indy 500: Sato, who started 15th, Graham Rahal, who started 18th, and Santino Ferrucci, who started 23rd.
